HT1933 When I try to buy album on iTunes it comes up unknown errer
Trying to buy album on iTunes and message comes up "unknown error"
Method 1 (preferred)
On a computer, go to http://appleid.apple.com and select "Manage your account". Log in with your Apple ID and password, then select Password and Security from the left column.
You need to know the answers to your existing security questions before you can change them or create new questions.
If you do not remember your answers, there may be a link on that page where you can have a reset email send to your "Rescue email address", as long as you provided one in the past. This option will not appear if you have not provided a Rescue email address.
Check all your known email addresses for their response, which will contain further instructions to follow. The email is automated and should arrive immediately. Check your spam / junk folder if you believe you did not receive it.
Method 2 (you cannot perform the above and you're stuck)
If there does not seem to be any way to reset your security questions, go here:
https://expresslane.apple.com/
Navigate the columns as follows:
All Products and Services > iTunes > iTunes Store > Account Management > iTunes Store account security
Answer the questions and if required sign in with your Apple ID and password - same one you used to log in on this support forum.
You will find an option to send an email to Apple on that page. Compose a thoughtfully worded email explaining your dilemma, and politely ask to have your security questions reset. There are over 400 million iTunes account holders and Apple receives a great many of these questions every day, so make sure your request is easily understood.
You will receive a confirmation email immediately. Check your email spam / junk folder for it because a humanoid should respond in a business day or two. You may need to provide more information before your questions can be reset. These back-and-forth emails may result in a week of correspondence before it is fixed.

Hi, I have a Power Book G4 Tiger 10.4.11 and my problem concerns iTunes 9.2.1(5). I have changed my Apple ID and password recently. Since that, I am told, only when I try to buy something in iTunes Store, that my "session has expired". Where does this come from? What should I do to solve this problem ? I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.
Hi, I am khonthaï. I solved the problem thanks to JHdeVilliers's post on 4 Dec. 2011: I removed all cookies in Safari and it worked immediately !!!

i have £20.00 in my account but when i try to buy a album it it wants to charge my debit card
Are sure that it is not simply asking you to verify your payment info? This is how itunes verifies your account.

When I try to buy a tv episode on apple tv, it gives me a message of "problems connecting with store, try again later". I hit ok, and then another message comes up to go online and verify payment information. I have done that, all info is correct. Why won't it let me purchase? This has been going on for days.
I figured it out!
I read a solution for something that sounded similar.
Anyone in similar position:
Open iTunes app on iPhone, and pick an option from bottom, such as music. Then scroll down to bottom of page and where your iTunes ID is, press on it, and pick sign out.
Then return to home screen, and double press home button and press and hold on first icon showing, until a minus symbol appears in the top left of icons present. Press on each minus symbol on each app in turn, until all app icons have disappeared. Then Restart the phone by pressing and hold the home button and the on/off/standby button at top of phone, until the apple symbol appears in centre of blank screen.
Swipe to turn phone fully on and open settings and scroll down to iTunes and apps option and tap that. Pick sign in and put in your apple ID, it will accept it and then return to home screen and open iTunes a you'll find it works fine
Simple really, but some like me won't think f this themselves!
Hope that helps -
When I opened the Mac App Store on my White MacBook(2010 model running Lion), it told me I had an update for Angry Birds. I never bought the original Angry Birds for Mac, so I decided I'd buy it because I enjoyed it on the iPad. When I clicked buy, it had my email switched to a russian one and when I tried to buy the app on my account, I got an unknown error (4). I can buy other items on my account, but when I try Angry Birds it always returns the error. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks in advance!
edit: Sorry! Found the answer on a related discussion.i have this too -- it's from trying to install pirated sw. I have no idea how to fix it -- even trying to buy a legot copy gives an error in the app store.

When i try to buy something it always says "could not be downloaded at this time"?
I need help when i try to buy something on itunes it says," could not be downloaded at this time"
That's not necessarily correct. At least in my case slides and videos for Stanford CS193P are downloading from deimos3.apple.com.
Annoyingly if I try to download "12. Persistence (November 3, 2011) - SD" from iTunes U on my iPad I get the error message:
Unable to Download Podcast
"12. Persistence (November 3, 2011) - SD" could not be downloaded at this time.
[Done] [Retry]
But if I then try from iTunes on my MacBook Pro sitting right beside it on the same network it actually starts downloading. Generally I've found downloads to be more reliable from my MacBook than on my iPad, but they're still amazingly slow (10 kilobytes per second seems the norm, regardless of whose network I'm on at the time). -
Account info is updated but when I try to buy music I can't

There might be a block on your account (iTunes or bank). Yep. Best to contact them and have them check your account.

I have entered a gift card on my apple id. The credit shows but when I try to buy a song itunes wants to used my previous credit card information to complete the purchase? When I click on redeem it asks for the gift card # again??
It will automatically be charged against your balance. You need to nothing.
Confirm you payment info as this is how itunes verifies your account. -
I keep getting "Error 5002" When I try to buy an album. What do I do?
I keep getting "Error 5002" When I try to buy an album. What do I do? I already reinstalled iTunes... not sure what this error means or how to be able to buy this album.
There's some info on your error message number in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:
iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting -
I get the message 'Store credit temporarily unavailable' when I try to buy an album. There is credit available. I have reset the cache and warnings and logged out of Itunes.
Apparently there is an issue if you try to make a purchase which is more than the amount from a gift card. It should charge the balance to your stored credit or debit card. It doesn't and displays this error instead. This issue is known by Apple but no fix date was given.

When i try to buy an app from the app store it ask for my billing imformation and when i type everything in it tells me the imformation does not match my bank records. Ive also tried using my wifes card to buy apps and it says the same thing. Any ideas?
The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico my first language is Spanish. I do not speak English, however I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Are you putting in the address where the bank sends the monthly statement?
Apple's servers are very picky about the format of the address. If you live in the USA, then the server is expecting the style that the US Postal Service uses. One way to do this is to use the USPS ZIP Code lookup service;
https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupAction!input.action
Enter the address to look up the ZIP code and then copy the exact USPS output into your iTunes account information. -

I get error message: not enough space to download when I try to buy a tv series on Itunes. It tells me to delete photos or videos to make space, but I have no photos and videos. Help?
I would guess that a TV series takes up a fair amount of storage capacity. It is just a standard message I think that may indicate that you are actually running low on storage space.
If you go to Settings>General>About how many GBs are specified as being available? If you are low on space maybe deleting some apps may help. -
My second iPod is a 5th generation and when I try to buy something it says it needs make sure I am who I say I am and it makes me answer security questions. But the problem is I don't know the answers to them. I did not choose them. And if I can't find an answer I can't buy anything!!! Help!!!!
