I tried to update software on my Iphone 3 from Itunes after i managed to sync phone to laptop but then i had a message (error 1015) after completing saying itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode, i am now unable to do anything with my phone, please help!!

You generally get that error code on a jailbroken phone ?
If it is Jailbroken then I am afraid you will get no help here.

  • Tried to upgrade but got "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode"

Hi, just tried updating my Itouch 5 to the newest upgrade on Itunes. Mid-way the Itouch screen displayed the image of the plug pointed to the Itunes Icon as if it was new. Then Itune as me if I wanted to restore. I really was sad to loose my kids videos but seemed to have no option, so I hit restore. Itunes proceeded to download the upgrade....again then I got this message
"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
I chose restore again, then it proceeded to re-download the upgrade and present the same message. Help... How can I get my Touch up and working again? And does this mean I've lost my videos for good?

  • "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes."

Went on a Vegas trip on Sept
    11th.  My iPad worked fine
before getting on the plane. In the hotel about 48hrs later I opened my iPad it
read the message: “iPad is disabled,
    connect to iTunes.”
To my knowledge myself, nor anyone else has tried to access my device or
entered the password incorrectly 3 or more times.
I started by updating my iTunes account on my computer to the latest version.
    Then multiple times I attempted
    the “Use recovery mode”
    steps.
    e.g.
    1. Turn off your device and leave it off.
    2. Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
    3. Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB
cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes
    screen.
I received the message on my computer saying “iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.”
I click the “Restore iPad” button.
During which time the progress bar on my computer’s iTunes
screen was moving very slowly and other times seemed like it wasn’t moving at
all. I would leave my two devices and attached by the cable and upon returning
I would find that the process would have ended before it had completed.
Initially I thought it was a connections issue because I was in remote
locations with slow internet servers. Since being home I have re-attempted the
process and have been able to fully complete the forced recovery but I will
    receive a message saying:
“The iPad could not be restored. The disk you are attempting to use is full.
Removing files and emptying the recycle bin will free up additional space.”
What recycle bin is the message referring to? Obviously I CANNOT access any
data on the iPad itself. Just for the **** of it, I did empty my computers
recycle bin and re-attempted the forced recovery process but as I suspected it
did nothing for the iPad and I still received the same message: “The iPad
could not be restored. The disk you are attempting to …”

I'm trying to put my music on my new iPod and keep getting this error message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore the iPod before it canb work with iTunes". I click "restor to factory settings" and then the same error message comes up when it's complete. iTunes does recognize my iPod, it just doesn't seem to realize that I've already done what it's telling me to do. Going around and circles and can't get my music on...:( Help, please?

No my Ipod is in recovery mode. Everytime I download the Update (Restore and update) there is this constant pop up that comes up (iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode).
I click ok everytime but then after 5h download there is the Processing file part which when I click ok on the pop that constantly keeps coming after some it, all stops and I need to restart the process again for 5h. Keeps going on like that.
Its really annoying stuck in an update like that which only a minor patch. I can't use my ipod for days now.

  • 'iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode' loop. Help?

On Friday I plugged in my iPod touch (4g) to download the new ios 5 (from 4.3.5), but about when it reached about 4 minutes remaining, the error message 'iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore the iPod before using it with iTunes.' appeared. I've tried restoring it about 10 times now, the closest being  just 2 seconds away from finishing.
The iPod has the screen on the usb pointing to the iTunes symbol.
It does NOT show up under computer, or under disk management, so I don't know if i can change the drive letter. If there are alternatives, please let me know!
I've tried using another computer and different users - all of which comes up with the same error, so I'm thinking that it is the iPod that is the issue.
When i attempt to restore it it says it should take around 15 minutes, but usually the error comes up within the last 5 minutes.
The iPod info just says Name: iPod
                                      Capacity: n/a
                                      Software version: n/a
                                      Serial number: n/a
Really don't know what to do, any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately not yet. Any thoughts on this are useful...

  • Restpre iPOD, "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode".

Hi, my iPOD was running just fine (80GB, 5th. Gen). I made a mistake (i believe) and i connected my camera to download pictures from weekend while my iPod was connected, not synchronizing, just charging via USB. It seems that iTunes recognized the memorystick as an MP3 player or something. I tried to syncrhonize my iPOD and i get the following error: iTunes has detected an iPod in Recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. So, i restored my iPod and keep on getting the same error.
Help, how can I get my iPod out of "recovery mode"?.
    Thanks in advance.

  • ...has detected an iPod in Recovery Mode

Hi, I have a Nano 4th generation, bought last month. I loaded my sounds in iTunes and linked up the Nano. All worked fine and continued to do so until last week, when I went to sync and load up with some extra music I had added to the library. I got the message 'iTunes has detected an iPod in Recovery Mode. You will need to restore... etc etc'. Long and short, I have tried all 5 of the 5 Rs, and have now restored/reset it both separated and connected to my laptop so many times it isn't true, but every time I connect to to the Laptop, I get the same message. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, and have also changed the drive letter assigned to the iPod. No change, same result: 'iTunes has detected an iPod in Recovery Mode. You will need to restore... etc etc'. Its very frustrating has anybody had the same problem and found a workaround? I travel alot, so am not really in a position to get apple iStore assistance. Grateful for any help. Thanks.

OK - I figured it out. If you are connected to a computer that is on a network, you need to disconnect from the network drives. I don't know why this is the case but there was another user one of these threads that did this and it worked for him/her.
Some are talking about renaming your iPod drive letter, but I didn't have to do that. Once I was disconnected from the network drives, I opened iTunes and synched my iPod and everything worked fine.
    Wierd.
    Hope this helps.

  • Itunes gives me the message that it has detected an ipod in recovery mode, you must restore the ipod.  when I clikk the "restore" button the download begins and after 30 minutes, I get the original message that itunes detects an ipod in recovery mode.

iTunes gives me the message that it has detected an iPod in recovery mode and that I need to restore the factory settings.  When I click the "restore" button iTunes downloads the software.  This is a 30 minute process.  Once the download completes, I get the same message "iTunes detects an iPod in recovery mode....".  I'm running Windows Vista and ZoneAlarm security software.
I've tried this restore function multiple times and still get the same results.
I've also tried resetting the iPod by holding the wake/sleep button and the Home button at the same time.  The iPod turns on but shows the icons of a usb cable connecting to iTunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • ITunes has detected an iPod in Recovery Mode. Wiped out library and is stuck in loop.

Message "iTunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes" and after restoring, all content was erased from iPod and it is stuck in a loop displaying the same message - never reloads library. It just returns to error message. There was no problem with the iPod. It worked fine until iTunes "restored" it. Support gives the same crap - out of warranty, send money for repair. Try rebooting... right, that fixes everything.
iTunes was recently updated and that may be the root cause of the failure. Communication between iTunes and iPod is still functioning - iTunes can reset everything back to factory default but, hangs and won't reload library to iPod. Anyone else have this problem after installing new version of iTunes?

  • ITunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode, constantly comes up

I was listening to my iPod when all of a sudden, when I went to skip to the next song, it just went to the next song, but would not play. I would press the play button, the play arrow would be displayed, yet no playback started. At this point, I did a reset, pressing and holding the menu + select until the apple logo appeared. I then got the sccreen showing the usb cable wiith the mesage "connect to iTunes to restore". I then connected it to computer running the latest version of iTunes. iTunes displayed the message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes". I click OK to close this window and at the iTunes main screen, select the 'restore' button. The message comes up "are you sure you want to restore...", I then selected Restore. The "Extracting software" message followed by the "restoring ipod" message came up. It then said the iPod was restored and is restarting. On the iPod, the apple logo comes up then the screen flashes white and then the screen showing the usb cable with the mesage "connect to iTunes to restore" reappears. it seems to be stuck in this loop. I changed the drive letter assigned to the iPod but that didn't make a difference. A couple months ago, I had a similiar issue where I got the message about the iPod being corrupted and I restored it and that worked fine and all was fine with the iPod after. Is this a indication of some kind of intermittant hardware problem? Has anyone else had the same issues? Any suggestions as to how to get this to work and what may have gone wrong why all of a sudden I had playback issues in the beginning? I don't know if this is coincidence or not, but I had some videos on it that I recorded earlier in the day. The time I had the corruption problem a couple of months ago, I had some video recorded on it also.

Well, I finally got my iPod formatted and restored. I had problems on my windows XP computer in that I couldn't get the iPod formatted in Windows nor would iTunes get out of the "iPod in recovery mode" loop after numerous restore attempts.
I did the following on my Windows Vista computer and was able to finally get the iPod to work:
I first tried the iPod in iTunes to attempt a restore but got the same "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode" error message.
After exiting iTunes, I did a format of the iPod in Windows as follows: FAT32, cluster size 8 KB, and did a "Quick" format. Format was successful this time. Disconnected the iPod using "safely remove hardware".
Then, restarted iTunes and reconnected the iPod. This time I was able to do a restore, name the iPod and set sync preferences and sync files to the nano.

  • ITunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode.

I have an iPod classic 20gb. I would like to be able to doc my iPod at work and listen to it through iTunes. The problem is that everytime I dock my iPod at work it tells me that my iPod is in recovery mode and that I have to restore it. I have restored it, but as soon as I take it home and put more songs on it, the iTunes at work gives me the same error message again.
I have tried to restore the iPod on both computers and nothing seems to work. The computer at work is fine with the iPod as long as I restored it there, but I can't get the songs without linking to my home machine. I have also deleted and reinstalled the iTunes on both machines.
I've done all I can think to do, if anybody has any idea what is wrong, please let me know.

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.
