  • How can i get my iphone on straight talk to send and receive mms?

I have an iPhone 4 on straight talks network. I have never been able to send or receive mms messages to anyone other than a device with iMessage.  How can I get it to work?  I dont want to change to a Galaxy or any other kind of phone, but I will if this doesnt get figured out.  Straight talk says its an issue with Apple products. Please help!!

    Hey Jstugelmeyer,
First, I would go through these three steps:
    Restart your device.
Update to the latest iOS Software.
If you are trying to send a message to multiple recipients and you type in each contact manually instead of using the contacts list, make sure you tap return instead of space to separate each one.
Then, if you still can't send or receive MMS messages:
To send and receive MMS messages on your iPhone, verify that your wireless carrier supports MMS2.
Ensure that MMS Messaging is turned on in Settings > Messages.
Verify that your phone is able to access cellular data.
Some carriers allow you to edit your APN (Access Point Name), which may prevent MMS from working.
If you are roaming outside your calling area, make sure you have Data Roaming turned on in Settings > General > Cellular to send or receive MMS content.
While on a phone call, you will be unable to send or receive MMS messages when using an EDGE, GPRS, or any CDMA cellular data network. After the phone call ends, you will receive any incoming messages. If you tried to send an MMS message, you may need to send it again.
If the issue persists and your wireless carrier has confirmed that your wireless account is provisioned2 for MMS, restore the iPhone.

  • IPhone 3GS Straight Talk can only text AT&T Phones? Can't MMS

    Background:
I have a AT&T iPhone 3GS. My contract ran out last September. I just let it end including the phone number.
I then signed up for Google Voice and just used the Talkatone app on my phone with Wifi to make calls and text.
In the last 2 Days I bought the correct Straight Talk Sim and Unlimited Refill Card and had my Google Voice number transfered to the Straight Talk Sim, and they activated it.
---I did not unlock my phone if that helps.---
    What's Happening:
My phone can send and recieve calls from anyone.
My phone can access the internet fine.
    BUT
-It can ONLY Text those on the AT&T Network.
    -It CAN'T Picture Message anyone!
(it can iMessage everyone with iMessage but that works through the data)
What is happening and how do I fix it?
    Thanks for the help!!!!!!

The phone, like all 3GS's sold in the US is carrier locked to AT&T.  Contact AT&T to find out if they will unlock it for you.
FYI, StraightTalk is only a supported carrier for iPhones purchased from StraightTalk.

  • Verizon iPhone 5 straight talk 2 Verizon?

I've got a Verizon iPhone 5 that was once used on straight talk service, but am wanting to now use with a Verizon service plan. I've heard some say it can't be done, I was can be done. Can it? If so how can I do this?

Well, normally the answer would lie in whether your previous carrier worked over a gsm or cdma network. Verizon requires CDMA compatibility. However, Straight Talk is a bit different in that it actually uses both networks, and so just knowing the previous carrier in this case is not enough information.
But there is an easy way to find out for sure. There is a model number on the back of your iphone 5. Here are the different possibilities, pasted directly from the apple support website:
Model number on the back cover:
    A1428: iPhone 5 (GSM model)
A1429: iPhone 5 (GSM and CDMA model)
A1442: iPhone 5 (CDMA model, China)
So since you need CDMA for Verizon, you will want your model to be A1429. I doubt you have the Chinese model A1442, but if you did, that should work too.

  • Iphone and straight talk

i want to buy an iphone 4s from apple to use on straight talk. I am hearing that mms will not work, as well as some other features without going through a lot of hassle, buying tmobile sim cards, jailbreaking, bla bla bla. I am about to spend six hundred dollars on a phone and I really just want to turn it on go thru a couple steps and have it work! can someone enlighten me? if the iphone supports mms and straight talk does also, what is the deal? also, i dont know what os it comes with these days to look up fixes...any help? thank you in advance.

Okay so did that and data still isn’t working.
SMS works except for one thing -
I was texting one of my friends (who also has an iPhone) while connected to the internet so they were sending as iMessages but later on, when I wasn’t connected to the internet, she apparently texted me again and I didn’t receive the message until I got home and connected to the internet. Could this be possibly a problem with her contact information for me? As in she hasn’t saved my number in my contact information in her phone? I just asked her but she hasn’t responded yet - I’ll let you know what she says.
(Also, thank you for all of your help)

  • IPhone 5 Straight Talk?

anyone using iPhone 5 with straight talk service?
how is it? good data speeds ok coverage?
i heard they cut u off if u go above 2gb data
and can u use facetime over 3g with them? since ATT blocks it..... would i have to restore or is that feature blocked by certain sim cards?
im looking for the best 3g prepaid carrier for my iPhone and t mobile wont cut it with there edge speeds..... unless they have 1900mhz in honolulu that i dont know about?
i would hate to lost my number as its a business phone number...
    Thanks

You did not have to unlock your iphone 5, so the 45 dollars was a waste. I am not sure about the nano sim. However, the bring your own device option from straight talk ships a micro sim card. All the devices that use this chip use the AT&T network, which is why you did not need to unlock it. My device was not locked and all you have to do is pop the sim chip in and cell phone service works automatically. Following, you go to a website via wifi and have the APN settings saved to your iphone and thus data works. With my iphone 4s I get speeds between 5-7mps consistantly in the Louisville, Kentucky area, and even when I have been to more rural areas I have not dropped belows speeds of 1-3mps that often, in fact very rarely have I ever. This is with the 4s however, which supports hspa+ speeds and thus is faster than the iphone 4. With an iphone 4 i was getting between 1-3mps so it may be worth the upgrade. The cell phone service is amazing. For 45 dollars you can't really beat it, the 5-7mps is still pretty good and you may get faster speeds in larger cities or different areas in general. I would definitely recommend it. As far as the iphone 5 I would not imagine that it would get much faster speeds than the 4s since straight talk does not utilize any LTE at this time. Again this is a great deal for 45 bucks a month and unlimited data, talk, and text you really can't beat it. However, I have heard that straight talk has been known to boot customers who exceed 2gb of data. If this concerns you, however, you can use net10, which is exactly the same service, under tracfone, however their terms of service specify unlimited data where as straight talk's terms of service is more vague. In addition you can buy a net10 sim at any dollar general for 15bucks and it includes the micro sim, regular sim card, and tmobile sim card. Again these are almost literally the same services, the difference is that straight talk is a walmart exclusive and is 5 dollars cheaper per month if you buy the monthly plan cards, but if you think you'll go over 2gb or are worried like the vague terms of service then you can go to net10. Also net10 has an auto enroll program which deducts the amounts from your bank account or card if you choose and then they knock of 5 dollars a month. I have tried both and they are exactly the same, and I have gone over this supposed 2gb limit straight talk sets and have had no issues so it's all your preferance.

  • Iphone and Straight Talk APN Issues

    Hi,
So my uncle from Taiwan (I live in the United States) gave me his iPhone 4 (model MC605TA) which is currently running iOS 7.1.2 and I decided to use the AT&T Straight Talk BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) plan. It had told me that the iPhone was compatible with the program. I followed the instructions provided in the started package for the plan - inserting the AT&T SIM card and activating the plan on the website. I also downloaded the APN app/program/whatever-they-call-it which currently can be found in Settings -> General -> Profile. I then, as instructed, turned off my wifi connection, rebooted the phone, and tried to get onto Safari. Here’s where things started to get dicey -
When I tried to use safari this notification came up:
Could not activate cellular data network
You are not subscribed to a cellular data service
But in the top left corner it has the 4 dark circles and then an empty circle (which is signal strength), TFW, and then says 3G - so I know that I’m connected. Moreover, I can call and receive calls just fine, and texting was fine. I did some digging around and stumbled upon the SIM swap method which seemed to work for everyone else... except for me. I tried about 6-7 times all to no avail.
Upon deleting the APN settings that I installed earlier, I could easily access the internet without using wifi but iMessage was acting strangely (I could still call). Even though I turned off the wifi on the iPhone, messages were not sending as texts rather they were sending as iMessages. Eventually, I re-downloaded the APN settings, but I just reverted to the original problem on top of the texts continuing to send as iMessages and if I turned off both wifi and data, they would send as texts but reach the other person about 30-40 minutes late.
I called customer support for Straight Talk but after talking to a representative for five minutes who then told me that he would be back to me after a couple minutes while he tried to figure out the problem and essentially left me stranded for about an hour and a half at which point I decided that they probably either forgot about my call or didn’t want to deal with it. So here I am. Anyone have any suggestions? Or is my case hopeless?
    Bonus issue:
I have a early 2014 Macbook Air running OS X Yosemite (version 10.10.2), and when I attempted to sync iMessage with the iPhone, it sometimes would register and sometimes would not register when I sent anything as a text from the iPhone and when I sent something to my friend (who was helping me by acting as a guinea pig to figure out what was going on) as a text and they texted back, I wouldn’t always receive a reply on the Macbook but would on the phone or vice versa...
    Any suggestions for this issue?

Okay so did that and data still isn’t working.

Could this be possibly a problem with her contact information for me? As in she hasn’t saved my number in my contact information in her phone? I just asked her but she hasn’t responded yet - I’ll let you know what she says.

  • Iphones and Straight Talk

If I purchase a brand new unlocked iphone 5s from Apples website and order a Sim Card from Straight Talk and Transfer my phone number will it work? LOL I have straight talk and a Iphone 4 currently i want to upgrade to the iphone 5s they dont sell it on straight talks website so i was wondering if it would work.

ok i checked some mvno at&t sellers. and the ones i checked will have no problem reselling you at&t service on your bring your own device at&t unlocked iphone (a1532 or a1533 ) so you will not waste 650 if the walmart scheme fails.
aio wireless -  - 9.99 for sim +  plans start at $40 lte bands 17/4
air voice wireless - looks like a yes -  $4.99 for sim plans start at $30 - no lte
    black wireless - $10 for a nano sim (plus shipping) plans start at $30 ($30 - 50 mb $60 3gb - no lte
consumer cellular - free sim module - works on iphone 5s (nano) costs about 60 for voice and data - no lte
    i checked wikipedia
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_mobile_virtual_network_operat ors
and checked those websites to make sure i could actually order service.
although net 10 will activate iphones, they don't sell nano sims, so you would have to modify it

  • Iphone 5 Straight talk carrier update problems

I have a Iphone 5 setup on straighttalk when i first got the phon it had 4g. Then i had a carrier settings update and now the phone only has 3g. Has anyone elst had this issue? any fixes? Thanks

Straight Talk tried to tell me I was getting 3G because if there were 4G cell towers I would get 4g. Persisted to talk to manager. Explained that, being from the telecom industry, I know there are a lot of 4g towers in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I asked, so I guess you folks haven't subscribed to them in this area? AND you're currently advertizing SIM cards for my iPhone as 4G LTE. Do I have to buy a new SIM card?  His answer = YES. Go to Walmart and make sure you get the SIM T4 card, then call in and reactivate your phone on the new SIM card.
On my way now. I'll follow up later with the results.

  • How to unlock my verizon iPhone (contract over) to use it with straight talk?

My contract with Verizon has expired I would like to use mi iPhone with straight talk some people told me that I have to unlock my phone…please help me with real solutions!!!

You can't. The Verizon iPhone 4S can not be used with any US carrier other than Verizon. If you want to use StraightTalk, sell the Verizon phone and buy a StraightTalk iPhone. They are a supported CDMA carrier. Neither StraightTalk, nor Apple support using an unlocked phone on Straight Talk.

  • I have an unlocked iphone 3gs running ios 6.0 currently with straight talk. I was able to get all the functions working except mms.Do you think this issue will be resolved ? I really would like that option on my phone. I have tried everything.

Can't get mms. to work have, tried everything I have found online.ST tells me it's Apples' problem Apple tells me it's STs' problem.Does anyone think this issue will be resolved ? My phone is an Apple unlocked 3gs running ios 6.0 on Straight Talk using atts' towers.

I am having the same problem but cannot get anything but the actual phone to work.  I have a unlocked 3GS running 6.0 (what was I thinking?).  No data whatsoever, no texting, no visual voicemail.  I simply cannot access the APN settings.  I have tried sim swap, I have tried APN changers.  I have been on the phone with ST tech support for hours and hours.  I have tried to get the answers from a "genius".  I am stuck and looking at Android devices, but would really like to keep using the iphone with Straight Talk.

  • How to Activate an already Activated Straight Talk Sims on Iphone 3gs?

Hello everyone! I am in a bit of a dilema,
Previously I have had Straight Talk for over a year now on my iphone 3gs.
Though today I accidently upgraded my iphone 3gs to 6.0, and it reset Everything for me.  It brought me back to the activation screen, yet I could not get past the activation screen.  Itunes kept telling me, "We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time".
I found a way to bypass the activation set up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hk5Tm_m91Y) and then I realized I was still not getting any talk or service at All.  At this point most everyone else has had no trouble activating their iphones with Straight Talk just fine enough to make a call.
Is there something I can do?  I don't know how to get my Straight Talk service back, even with my sims card in my phone and everything:(
Thank you in advance to anyone who is willing to help me,
    -Nina Marie

the error is: Your iphone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iphone to itunes to activate it or retry in 2 minutes.

  • Straight talk MMS will not work on iPhone 5 purchased from Apple

Just purchased an iPhone 5 from Apple and activated on Straight Talk. Used the BYOD ( bring your own device ) option and purchased a SIM from ST. Everything works fine except my MMS. I even went and purchased a nano SIM from Tmobile. I have tried every suggestion found on the nets but none seem to work. I have tried all the APN settings mentioned. Without the APN settings I do not have the option to even select the camera icon while in messages. After Imanually enter the APN settings I then have the option to select the camera icon to choose existing or camera to send MMS. Everytime I try to send one it fails. It seems the only reason I needed the Tmobile SIM was to open cellular data. Cellular data was already an option without the Tmobile SIM. Nothing ever loads in the APN with Tmobile SIM or ST SIM. Called ST and got no help because was told since I brought my own device there was nothing they could do and to contact Apple. I know Apple would not be able to do anything for this, because it is not a phone issue but a cellular issue.

    Hi Guys,
I got exchange mail working. It seems issue is around "Push". I enabled "push", account verified & all worked well. After that I disabled push (I do not want it & to save mobile data use).
By googling, I found many have got it up & apple may fix it in it next iOS udpate.
    Regards,
    Mathew

  • How can I use a bad IMEI AT&T iphone 5 with straight talk ?

Someone sold me a bad IMEI AT&T iphone 5. I had an AT&T iphone 4 with straight talk prior to buying this phone. I didn't know the IMEI was bad so I bought the iphone 5 hoping to switch. I cut my SIM card and put it into the iphone 5. Everything worked perfectly fine so I went ahead and gave the dude the money. I went to sleep and wake up the next day and try to make a call and I get a message saying my phone has been blocked from the network. I contacted straight talk and they thought it was a problem of theirs so somehow they got my phone to work again. Everything was good , calls, texts , and data. 2 hours later, the same problem happens. So I call straight talk again , tell them the problem. They fix It again, 2 hours later , THE SAME PROBLEM. I gave up this time and began looking for answers. Is there any way I can use this iphone 5 with straight talk ? There was a comment I saw through my search for answers where if I get another straight talk sim everything would work again. Is this true? How can I use a bad IMEI AT&T iphone 5 with straight talk ?

If that IMEI has been blacklisted by AT&T, then it is blacklisted by all USA carriers, as well as several participating Canadian and Mexican carriers.
As of 31 October 2012, USA Cellular Providers are sharing a common IMEI/ESN database to ensure that phones blacklisted on one carrier can't be activated on another carrier.  AT&T and T-Mobile are also participating members of the GSM-networks global shared blacklists.
