HT1941 why does it say 'not charging'

So...I am a week away from my warranty expiring and have started to notice an intermittent issue with my MBA.  When I attach the charger the light stays very dim and my MBA shows the plug icon but says 'not charging' beside it.  What causes this?
I can unplug and reattach the charger and then sometimes it just starts working, other times the same error happens again.  The connector is not dirty or dusty.
Any thoughts?  Should I go to an Apple store?
Thanks,
Ian

I went to the apple store and there was indeed a problem with my magsafe adapter...they just gave me a new one.
Thanks guys!
Ian

  • HT5012 Why my iPad says not charging..what can I do about this??

My iPad is connected to my lab top for the 1st time and it says "Not Charging" what can I do about this?

This is normal, as the USB ports on most computers do not provide sufficient current to charge the iPad properly. It is best to charge it with the included high power adapter.

not charge with usb hub in wall outlet?

Because the hub is not compatible with the iPod.
Just use your computer or purchase a wall charger.

  • Why does my iPhone not charge with the wall charger?

i have recently purchased an iphone 4 (within the last month). it has charged via the wall charger at first but now, the wall charger does not work. it does charge by connecting the USB cable to my computer. is there any way i can get my wall charger working? or will i have to get a new one? thanks.

Try a different wall socket - if you haven't already and/or try this.... reset the iPad
Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. then try again.
You could also try updating your software as I have no idea which version you are running on your iPad.

  • Why does JadTool say "Not an RSA key: DSA"?

I'm trying to sign a midlet with a CA's blessing and have followed the sequence described in WTK tool documentation, http://www.spindriftpages.net/blog/dave/2006/06/18/midlet-jar-signing-a-tutorial-revised/ , http://www.forum.nokia.com/document/Java_ME_Developers_Library_v2/ , and such. I created a keypair with my company info, then a certificate signing request as described in many places, gave Verisign the request and $500, imported the reply in my keystore, and am now using JadTool from the WTK (we're at WTK2.5.1). JadTool.jar -addcert works fine. JadTool.jar -addjarsig throws "java.security.InvalidKeyException: Not an RSA key: DSA". If I dump the keystore I see no refs to a DSA key. I do see "Signature algorithm name: SHA1withRSA" which is surprising, following MD5 and SHA1 fingerprints, for certificate 1 (us) and 2 (Verisign).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions / answers.

Verisign tech support had the answer. In my case, the replaced key in the keystore had only 2 certificates in the chain, not 3. Because I did not say "-trustcacerts" when importing the reply from Verisign, it did not look up their top-level certificate from the cacerts file in the JRE, the one signed by God that vouches for Verisign. Since I did not have a copy of the pre-reply-import keystore, I had to start over, generate another certificate signing request, and go to the Verisign site to request a replacement. (They don't charge you another $500 for this.)
There was a new issue here - apparently I had been using some earlier version of keytool before. When importing the base64-encoded reply, -rfc is no longer necessary; it checks auto'ly. But where before I had to remove the "-----BEGIN CERT..." and "-----END ..." lines from the reply that I import, now they are required.

  • HT1476 Why does my battery not charge?

I started having problems a couple of days ago when I noticed that non apple cables don't charge my phone anymore. But last night I tried to plug my phone to an apple charger and it took or ten times before it started to charge. I had tried about three plugs before one finally worked after many tries.please help because I am not due for an upgrade yet.

Even the apple wires that come with the iPhone are having difficulties to connect all of a sudden. Could this be a software issue, or is my iPhone just done??? If it is it didn't even last two years and I promise it's gonna be the last apple product I buy!!!! I hope apple reads this. Thanx for the reply.

  • Why does my iphone4 not charge from the wall when on? But will charge when on and plugged into my laptop? I've tried different wall plugs, charging docks.. Nothing works, not even car charger.. Anyone else having this issue since the update?

My iphone 4 will no longer register my wall charger while on.. It WILL charge if turned off.. OR, if I plug it in to my laptop while on. Tried any different cords and plugs, all the same result.. REALLY REALLY frustrating!!

    - While charging try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if still problem restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
    - However, I really think that the iPod has a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.  If defective Apple should give you a refurbished iPod.

  • TS3274 When I plug in it says not charging.  I have tried 3 different ways. Two computers and direct to power

anyone know why my iPad says not charging?

Your computer's USB port would not be providing enough power. It gives that messege but is in fact charging quite slowly. This method is not recommended.
If you are also getting the message when using the supplied 10W charger then I also suggest trying another cable.

  • WHY DOES IT SAY BATTERY NOT CHARGING WHEN I TRY TO CHARGE MY IPAD??

WHY DOES IT SAY BATTERY NOT CHARGING WHEN I TRY TO CHARGE MY IPAD ???

How are you trying to charge it, via a computer or the wall plug ? If a computer, then a lot of computers (especially older ones) generally do not provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.
If the wall charger then have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't work then have you tried a different charger and/or cable ? Do you know anybody else with an iPad so that you can try their charger and cable and they can try yours ?
And for info typing in capitals is considered SHOUTING.

Why does my ipad say "not charging," when plugged in?

Read the KB article.  Make sure you are using the 10W adapter that came with the iPad or a High-Power USB 2.0 port.

  • Why does my iPad 3rd gen keep saying "not charging"?

My iPad (3rd gen) is frequently saying "not charging" when I plug it into my computer or ac adapter. I'm using Apple cords and adapters, too!

There has to be a power going through to charge it surley , it is ither of or on not low power? . Also daughter judy said '' i have tried ac adapter''. Maybe if you have another device e.g xbox with a usb port in try to connect through there

If you already updated to 8.0 you're doing nothing wrong. It's one of the lovely issues created by the update. I just tested mine, same problem.

  • ITunes says I have authorized five computers so I can no longer play music I have purchased. I have not replaced my computer once. Why does iTunes say this?

iTunes says I have authorized five computers so I can no longer play music I have purchased. I have not replaced my computer once. Why does iTunes say this?

    Hey Christownsend,
Thanks for the question. To troubleshoot this issue, you may want to try deauthorizing all computers:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
To deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID
If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
    1. Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
    2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
    3. Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
    4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
