HT1947 home sharing on for both and the remote doesn't display anything

I follow the steps on the instruction page.  I get nothing on the remote.  I turn off all the firewalls and still get nothing.  I( am runing windows 7, an iPod Touch, and have a D-link router.

Just thought I'd let you know that the problem was fixed by replacing the router.  I am not sure if the old router (D-Link DIR-651) was defective or just had some setting that was interfering with the whole process, but I replaced it with a TRENDnet TEW-651BR and everything began working perfectly.
Thanks for all your help.

  • HT4557 Does home sharing work for apps? The instructions make it sound as though home sharing really only allows you to stream content.

Does home sharing work for apps? My young son received iPad mini for Christmas, and I don't want him to have to repurchase the games and other raps I'd already bought for him that are resident on my iPad.

does Home Sharing allow you to copy any item begtween libraries, including CDs you have ripped yourself
It certainly allows you to copy ripped CDs. Just did that myself last week.

  • How do I transfer my iTunes library to a new computer?  I have transferred purchased music but wish to transfer the rest of my library.  Home sharing isn't responding and the computers are going to be in different locations.

How do I transfer my iTunes library from my old computer to my new one?  I have successfully transferred purchased music but not my library of CDs.  Home sharing will not work, and isn't working in fact, as the computers will be in different countries.

Assuming your library is in the default location and all of the media is stored within the library's media folder then this is what you need to do:
Copy the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> on the source computer to <User's Music> on the target computer.
You can do this directly over a network (making use of shared network folders) or by making a copy on an external drive, moving the drive between computers, and copying again. Any way that works is good. However if you say that you cannot use Home Sharing (doesn't work properly anyway) because the source and target are not on the same network then method 2 as I describe it won't work either.
Your playlists, play counts, ratings etc. are stored inside the database iTunes Library.itl which is inside the iTunes folder and a successful migration includes all of this information, not just the media files. I recommend method 1 from the earlier link as it sets you up with a backup mechanism to use in future. All hard drives fail eventually and often without warning, or at least a warning that is noticed and then heeded.
If the initial assumption is wrong, or you need help checking, just ask.

  • About Home sharing on two Macs and the option to update on play count...

There is an option under the Home Sharing tab in the Preferences of iTunes to update the play count on "all devices and computers". But if I click this option, what count does it take into account? That of the computer on which I tick the option or the highest of all the computers that are "shared"? You see, my main computer at home is my iMac. It's the one computer with the biggest HD and on which most of the music I listen to is played. Well if I tick this option on my MacBook, I'm afraid it will erase my play counts on the iMac! If I tick it, will it ask me which computer's information I want to use as the start of the update? Unless I get confirmation that this will be the case, I won't do anything that might make me lose my play counts! Any help would be much appreciated!

The import button remains greyed out and therefore unavailable.
Quickly doublechecking ... has the MacBook gone to sleep? If it's awake, does the Import button become active for you?

  • Microsoft Rights Management Sharing Application for Windows and the connection with AD RMS

    Hi,
I have installed AD RMS and now installed on end users Microsoft Rights Management Sharing Application for Windows.
When I choose protect a document in any end user machine, does it connect with AD RMS server to get a certificate and encrypt the content, or does not use at all AD RMS services? What about when choosing to protect  with an AD RMS template distributed
    to end users?
    Thanks

    Hi Ardi -
The first time a user creates or consumes protected content, they must contact the RMS server to "bootstrap".  In this process, the user obtains certificates to identity them within the context of RMS.
Once a user has bootstrapped, he or she can create protected protected content without access to the RMS server.
To open protected content, a user must connect to the AD RMS server to obtain a "use license".
    Does that help?

  • Creative Logo stays on the screen and the player doesn´t do anything el

I have tried everything, but my Creative Zen Micro, will just show the Creative logo on the screen at first with the blue light, and afterwards without it, i stays like that until it runs out of battery, has anyone else had that problem? I had tried the clean up, and it just stays there and does nothing, the reboot will give me the same problem, and the other 2 options, reload firmware and format all, the same.
    Thank you for your help

Can your PC detect your player, when it is in recovery mode?
Then try reload firmware and upgrade the latest Zen Micro firmware downloaded from Creative webpage.
I thought he already said they didn't work:
"and the other 2 options, reload firmware and format all, the same."
But I think that maybe he could still try what you suggested.
At least if the PC CAN recognize the player, so yes, you are right, it's def. worth a shot.
(Although I always leave the format player as a last resource)

    Hi Monty,
Sorry to say it, but this is normal for Apple TVs. I've owned a TV2 and a TV3, and neither lasted for an entire year. They are quite fragile and of low quality, and as you can see here, quite fussy even when they work. The wi-fi receiver on these are cheap and unreliable.
Consider the $99 an annual rental fee. They rarely work for a whole year, so if you are going to use the platform, you will have to replace them constantly.
Also, when one dies under warranty, never, never send it to Apple for repair. Go to the Apple Store for replacement. I sent my ATV3 in for warranty repair using a box sent to me by Apple, and although FedEx tracking showed it was accepted by Apple, it was never seen again. Apple won't replace it or even return my calls.

All of your computers content are available in the AppleTV section called "Computer".  This is where you will find your music.
The Music section of the AppleTV is only for those who subscribed to iTunes Match.

  • Hello there - how can I share my iTunes library between two users on the same computer? I put the library in a shared folder between both and have selected this library on both as well, but when I update iTunes with music etc it only appears on one?

Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly   Thanks anyway!

  • Does home sharing allow my husband and I to share our itunes content?  If so, how do we do that since it requires the use of the same Apple ID and password on each device to do so.  His itunes is linked to his email and mine is linked to my email...

Does home sharing allow my husband and I to share our iTunes content?  If so, how does this work?  From what I've read to use home sharing the devices/computers all require the same Apple ID and password.  My husbands iTunes is linked to his email/password and mine is my email/password.  So if that's the case how to we go about sharing?  God I hope that makes sense.

All apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that bought them. To stop your id from popping up, you need to delete the apps on his phone, and then repurchase them under his account.

    Hi Craig
Unfortunately, in your case, there isn't really a way to separate them as far as I can think.
You could try restoring from a backup, and choosing an older backup perhaps

Can anyone assist me with this issue?
    Thanks

To downgrade, you'll need to download the previous software version here: ATV3 http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-4361.20120605.grjot/AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830 _Restore.ipsw
    ATV2: http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-4362.20120605.t8i4U/AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830 _Restore.ipsw
Next, plug the Apple TV into your computer with a micro-usb cable (most phones today use these) and start up Itunes. It should detect the Apple TV in recovery.
After that, hold down Option on Apple or Alt on Windows and click Restore. This should open a window that allows you to select the software update you want to apply. Select the one you downloaded earlier.
It will then go through the restore process, which takes only a few minutes, and then you will be able to plug the Apple TV back in to your display and set it up again.
I recently ran into a similar issue with a bunch of these things and after restoring them all to the previous software version they are working again.

I have tried downloading photoshop cs2 and cs4 on a new computer.  I have the disc available for cs2 and the serial number for cs4.  They are both registered in my name.  I need help doing a download.  I was able to get part way through cs4, it showed up in my downloads but never got as far in the process as to ask for serial numbers.  I tried with cs2 and I got an error message that some bit of information was incorrect.  I currently have both downloaded on two other lap tops I own.  One is operational and one is dead.  I cannot access the dead one to remove the program. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

For CS2 you will need to download a special new version
    CS2 Activation
You might find CS4 download here
