HT200150 Find my iphone app issue.

Hi,what if the person who stole my iphone and log out from my icloud account,do i still able to locate my lost iphone?

You're welcome.
You have to understand, Find My Phone was never designed as or marketed as a theft prevention/recovery mechanism.
Look at this, free, open source & it works:

  • Find my iphone app issue

Hey, I have been making some tests with the app called "Find my Iphone" and i have found an issue that could cause a headache. I noticed that if someone steal my device, this person is capable of deactivating the app without any authentification. Thus it means that I am not going to be capable of locate the stolen device.
I really would apreciate being heard.

That will change when iOS 7 is introduced this fall, which requires entering your Apple ID credentials to disable Find My iPhone.

  • Is there any way to block the shutdown of the device is protected by password? This function would help in case of theft with the issue of the find my iphone app.

is there any way to block the shutdown of the device is protected by password? This function would help in case of theft with the issue of the find my iphone app.

    Device experiences issues, locks up.
I need to do a reset.
How would I do that with a pass code lock in place?
    Wait until the battery dies?
Apple's changes in iOS 7 are smarter.
"Losing your iOS device feels lousy. Thankfully, Find My iPhone can help you get it back. But if it looks like that’s not going to happen, new security features in iOS 7 make it harder for anyone who’s not you to use or sell your device. Now turning off Find My iPhone or erasing your device requires your Apple ID and password. Find My iPhone can also continue to display a custom message, even after your device is erased. And your Apple ID and password are required before anyone can reactivate it. Which means your device is still your device. No matter where it is."

  • Mac Locked through the Find my iPhone app having issues with unlock

I was testing out the Find my iPhone app and locked my 2013 MacBook Air running OSX Yosemite thinking that it would just lock the computer and show a pretty message or something. Unfortunately that's not quite what happened.
When I turn on the MacBook and hold down the option key it asks for the 4-digit pin I made when I locked it. (I know what the pin is). If I don't hold down the option key then it just skips to the message in the 3rd image.
Once the pin is entered it asks to select which partition to boot up. I select Macintosh HD. (My Windows 7 partition seems to be working fine.)
Then the Apple logo appears with a gray background (something I would expect from Mavericks) and this message pops up momentarily before the MacBook shuts down. It doesn't show up long enough for me to select any of the options.
Has as anyone else had this problem and is there a solution available?

the lock screen you are seeing is not the Find my phone remote lock screen but the firmware password screen. Preventing unauthorised access to Start up options. Restart normally and see what happens.
If you get the same message, boot with the options key again and choose Recovery 10.9. Once booted open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions and Disk.
    Restart.
Failing this you could be looking at booting again and reinstalling OS X either from a Time Machine backup or a fresh install.

  • "Apple ID cannot be used for MobileMe" when setting up Find My iPhone app

Okay, folks, spent some time with MobileMe support via chat this morning. This is what I've learned. Apparently you CANNOT use an Apple ID, regardless of what format it's in (usually a full email address) AS LONG AS IT'S ASSOCIATED WITH A MOBILE ME (ME.COM ADDRESS) ACCOUNT THAT IS CLOSED OR NO LONGER ACTIVE. Unfortunately, there is no way to disassociate the two and there is no way the old MobileMe (me.com address) account can be deleted.
Apparently, I had some issue when I was trying out the MobileMe for the trial period many months ago and for some reason couldn't use my primary Apple ID (my primary email address), so I created a me.com address for the MobileMe account. Eventually, I cancelled the MobileMe account because the cost wasn't justified for the features it offered. Unfortunately, that association with my primary Apple ID is permanent and THAT is the source of the "This Apple ID canot be used for MobileMe" error. Or at least that's ONE reason for it.
The solution? Create a completely new, separate Apple ID using a valid email address from which you can receive a verification email. The address is NOT used to receive any further emails from Apple. Only to create logon credentials. Do NOT associate this email address with your current/primary Apple ID or any other Apple ID. This is what you use to set up Find My iPhone/iPad, etc. using the MobileMe setup in Settings>Mail/Contacts/Calendars as well as the Find My iPhone App (plus it's your logon to the MobileMe Find My iPhone web page).
When you log in to the MobileMe page, BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU ENTER YOUR APPLE ID IF IT'S A FULL EMAIL ADDRESS: apparently, the ID field automatically tries to change it to "[email protected]" instead of your "[email protected]". Just check it before and after you enter your Apple ID password and submit.
I did this and it works. Find My iPhone app and service works beautifully. Spotted my iPad right where I'm at on a map. I sent a message to my iPad via the service (which also offers the option to play a sound, lock the device or even wipe the device).
I hope this information helps SOMEONE.
Oh...interesting footnote: I was informed that APPLE IDs CANNOT BE DELETED. Even if you create a "test" Apple ID (like I did during our troubleshooting session) with some barely used email account using a weak password. That means, regardless of whether you use it or not for MobileMe/Find My iPhone, you really, really need to give it a SECURE password (if you're going to keep that email account alive). So yeah, there are a lot of dormant Apple IDs floating around out there!

    I agree.
I found this 'bug' out the other day when getting ready for my new iPhone I was setting up my iPad with some new apps too and wanted to work with Find My iPhone.
Here's the deal; my main AppleID is just a simple 'Username' not a '[email protected]' AppleID.
I've had this since the need for AppleIDs were used for these forums and the iTunes Store, AppStore, etc.
So it works fine and well with that stuff but not with find my iphone on my iPad as it wants a full email account, either a '@me.com' or a '[email protected]' AppleID which I did create but I think it was used as Job profile or something other along those lines (NOT used for a MobileMe account or .mac either).
And I only have access to one email now and I dont feel comfortable having multiple email addresses that I dont check or have no use for, call my simple or naive but thats just how it goes.
What I'd like to do is be able to use either AppleID for my Find My iPhone app and everything else.
And I think thats a good point, '@me.com's for all. make it a whole lot easier in my opinion.
merge all the apple accounts you created into a MobileMe, simplifies the situation and makes it easier connect to all Apple Services.
My itunes account, apple.com store account, appstore account, main AppleID for the past couple years it "Maxwell Stanley" but it does NOT work with Find My iPhone. So i created [email protected] (example.com is in place of my true email domain for privacy reasons) and that doesnt work as it statse it Cannot Be used.
My 'Maxwell Stanley" Apple ID's email associated with it was [email protected] i tried changing it to [email protected] but still doesnt recognize that as an AppleID even though its associated with "Maxwell Stanley".
I event ried to use the SAME email that is associated with my 2nd AppleID '[email protected]' with the appleid 'Maxwell Stanley' and no dice.
running out of options it seems.
Any idea on the best solution?
    Thank you!

  • How do I get iMessage to activate after having used find my iPhone app?

My husband not realizing he was going to wipe my phone decided to play around with the find my iPhone app. Of course it reset and I lost everything. I restored from a backup and cannot get iMessage to activate. I just keep getting a message awaiting activation.  I've tried shutting down the phone, turning iMessage on and off, resetting network settings, logging in and out of apple ID. I let it sit for about 10 hours and that didn't work either. Is there something else I need to try? Anything specific to the find my iPhone app?  I really don't want to restore without backup. I've already had issues with the 5 and lost my info on 3 separate occasions. Also can't get iCloud backup to work since I've had the 5. Any help greatly appreciated!!

  • My toddler got hold of my phone and tried purchasing something it was declined due to no funds he has then deleted my find my iPhone app it won't let me as its going to additional billing information required is there a way to fix this

My toddler got hold of my phone and tried making a purchase it was declined due to insufficient funds he has then deleted my find my iPhone app and I can't reinstall it as its asking for additional billing information is there some way around this

    Hello Sammy,
Thank you for providing the details of the App Store issue you are experiencing.  To be able to purchase or download apps again, you may need to update your billing information.  It sounds like you do not want to associate a credit card with your account, so you may be able to select "None" as a billing option in your account settings.
You can find steps to update your billing information in the following article:
    iTunes Store: Changing account information
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1918
If you do notice that there is a pending charge on your account regarding the accidental purchase, I recommend following the steps in the article below to report this to the iTunes Store:
To report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBookstore purchase, follow these steps:
Find the email receipt for your purchase.
Click Report a Problem under the app that is having the issue.
When prompted, enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the item, then click Report a Problem.
Click Report a Problem next to the item you are having an issue with.
From the Choose Problem dropdown menu, choose the appropriate issue.
Follow the onscreen instructions and—if prompted—type a description of the problem into the text field.
Click Submit to have your issue reviewed.

  • Find My iPhone App Problem

Hello. I'm kept getting wrong locations of my iPhone whenever I tried to
locate it with Find My iPhone app. Sometimes the reading is off from 4
to 10 blocks away from the actual iPhone's location. Sometimes, my phone
is displayed in wrong sections of the city. Is it caused by GPS
signal problems or is there any other factor that may prevent me from
    knowing the exact location?

This issue is something both Apple and phone carriers need to discuss and improve in a cooperative way. There had been 3G GPS issues (inaccurate display of a phone's location) and my Verizon 3G had significantly slow network connections when I tried to locate my iPhone 4s and usually the dot's location was several blocks or kilometers off. I followed other people's advice by turning on the Wi-Fi for more accurate results, but it really didn't help in my experience. One thing I can at least tell you is that Google Maps is currently more reliable. I have my Galaxy S4 and its Google Maps gave me less frustrating moments whenever I tried to locate myself using 4G LTE GPS. Our technology is always full of flaws but I'm pretty sure Apple is still working for its own advanced map features/ functions.

problem with updated find my iPhone (FMi) app: when I attempt to open the FMi app, it tells me that I need to be a registered developer and run iOS7 to do so; is anyone else having this problem?  I got the app as a regular update to my existing FMi app which worked great.

The problem is being reported in the news media, yes. Apparently someone at Apple jumped the gun and uploaded the update before it was ready. They'll probably issue another update shortly, I would expect, but you can go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store. If you have a backup copy of the older version of the app, remove the newer version, restore the old version to iTunes on your computer, and resync.
Update: Well, that was certainly quick. As of a short time ago, various sites are reporting that the Find My iPhone app is no longer displaying the previous error message. If it still is for you, delete it from your iPhone and re-download from the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • Find my iphone app remove link

I have a couple of users that are no longer with the company.  They had the find my iPhone app set up on their company mobile devices.  I need to have the devices unlinked from the account.  How can i complete this?
    thanks

    There is not.
Make sure when you issue a device to an employee, they sign something so they understand they must remove their AppleID from it (or use only a company issued AppleID) and they are accountable for locked devices.

  • I made my own apple id because my family was getting my texts from other people. I want to add my device to my dads find my iphone app on his icloud but can't figure out how, without having to log in to his apple id on my phone. how do i add my device?

I made my own Apple ID because when I was logged into my dad's my family was receiving my texts from other people. I want to add my device to my dad's "find my iphone" app but without signing into his Apple ID on my phone because that was causing them to get my texts. I was told by Apple I could add my device to his by signing into icloud.com but there is no option that I can find to add my device. And I don't want to log back in to his.. Any ideas???

Also when I apply the safety copy it only imports the app the phones have had in common, so none of the apps that only the iPhone 4 had doesn't come in, only the ones I and the iPhone 4 has had in common. So you say the only way I can use the Apple ID to download on the old iPhone 4 is if I delete the apps that are in the phone and then download them again? How will that change the ID to download/update from. Won't it still have mine to update/download from?
