The light on my atv2 came on out of nowhere, but i didnt turn it on at any point, i switch my TV input to see if it's on (the atv) but it isnt, what is going on!! Anyone??! TX

I seriously need help on this, it gets anoying seeing that light glowing. I still dont understand why it shows the atv2 off when ligth glows

Need some quick help - fairly urgent!

I've just taken over a new job and have been the task of finishing the new brochure for Christmas, there's not a lot to do but a lot of the measurements need changing
This is the layout I'm dealing with..
All the boxes have been made in Illustrator
The text has been done in In'Design and it seems every piece of text is it's own box if that makes sense
My question is, if I select the whole specification box - copy, paste it into Adobe Illustrator and change the text there, then paste the edited box back into In-Design, will I lose quality when it gets printed?
I'm worried if I do it this way it may come out blurred? Or am I just worrying about nothing?

I couldn't find an Illy file in the end and have ended up creating tables in ID to replicate what was already there!
Didn't take very long and I guess if I didn't do it now, I'd come across the same situation next time!

There certainly are viable "quick fix" solutions proposed here, and if the dealine is looming and this file never needs to be touched again I might be tempted, but they are only postponing the pain for a file that needs periodic updates, and I wouldn't waste effort on them, myself, when that time can be put toward a proper rebuild now if that's the ultimate goal.

New Builder needs some info K9A Plat. RAID Array help

This is a new build AMD 64x2 6000+, K9A platinum, Lite On DVD Re Writeable SATA, 2x74Gig WD Raptors in Raid 0, Asus X1950 pro Thermaltake 700 W PSU Crossfire cert.
BIOS registered my drives, Built array PC Rebooted, Installing Win XP pro Hit F6 install drivers, Format drives, Then before Install It says that :setup cannot copy the file ahcix86.inf.
If I skip it, it will install XP but when I try to boot from the hard drive It starts to load XP but crashes to the blue screen of death

Looking at some info on Google and Microsoft site, I cannot find the BC error code, only the error code ending with B. It indicates an error with the boot device. It can be caused by several things.
Check that you are using the correct device drivers to install Windows
Also, check the installation CD. It could be that the disk was damaged and that you are missing a crucial file because of that
You can also try installing Windows again and choose to recover the previous installation.
If this all does not help, try installing Windows on a single HDD (no raid) to see if that will work.

I Need some info about interfacing the PC or laptop to Spectrum analyzer using Labview

we need to control the spectrum analyzer using an interface that will be developed using Labview .
Spectrum analyzer will be connected to tha PC using RS 232C and the waveform observed will be seen in the PC interface of spectrum analyzer.

Using a spectrum analyzer with LabVIEW is a pretty common application, my first program 15 years ago did this. What we need to know to help you though is what model spectrum analyzer are you planning on using? Most of the ones I'm familiar with use the GPIB interface rather than RS232, but that isn't a major issue, the spectrum analyzers command set is the important one. There are a lot of LabVIEW drivers available for a larger number of analyzers, here on the National Instruments' site. Although most use the GPIB interface (or ethernet), they can be used as a starting point to develop an RS232 driver if one isn't available, assuming that there is a driver for the model that you have, or a closely related one (manufacturers frequently use similar command sets within a model type).
So, what type analyzer are you using, and what types of things are you planning on doing with it?

GT70 680m/8970m troubleshooting - need some experienced help!

Looping for some serious help...
After some erratic behavior my i7 3rd gen GT70 just stopped working with MSI 680m 4GB. The card shows on occasions in manager, but both - discrete and HD4000 have no installed drivers and wont work unless 680 is plugged out (then intel kicks in without prob). That happened after some automatic driver updates and possibly BIOS update. Tried a ton of these and Bioses, rather randomly, trying to solve the disappearance of my 680m from control panel, but non of them worked. To make the things worse, I've messed with EC firmware editions trying the "beta" t25,21,16,17 - one of them bricked the lappi for good... Had MSI re-flash the bios (couldn't do the blind flash myself) but they say they can't help me with 680 since it is from GT60 originally and it's not supported by GT70 (I switched it from 675 to 680 in the other MSI laptop some 8 months ago - both worked without a problem until the issue). Don't have access to check my 680m in another MSI to check if it's working and is no hardware failure, but have access to 8970m from CLEVO for some decent bucks - was wondering which bios should I install to run it in my GT70 or which bios/EC firmware to flash so my old 680 start working again... This or that... Any idea? Guys? Svet? Sure will make the donation if needed of course!

No special BIOS is required to support 680M. Just use the latest BIOS release for model GT70 0NE by MSI, it should be working on the machine as long as there is no other strange issue, like a malfunction VGA card/Mobo....

My ipod is majorly screwed up and i need some serious help

Replaced zd8000 motherboard and need some troubleshooting help please............

I just replaced the motherboard on our HP zd8000 (pentium 4, 3.0ghz, 2gb ram, Win XP) with a used but tested good MB and need some help with the following.
1) I now cannot play DVD movies as the error no "dvd decoder" present which was not an issue before? Where can I go to get a free decoder that will work, as Windows only shows paid versions? We have the dvd burner/reader with lightscribe. SOLVED! CNET HAD DECODER.
2) The internal temperature, according to SpeedFan, is running around 140 degrees with just some Internet browsing. Is that a normal temperature because I only have one of three fans running on the laptop? Is there anyway of making all three fans run to be sure there are no issues? I am positive I hooked up everything but again only one fan seems to be running?
3) I discovered some of the pins were damaged in the card reader. I may get the Seller to give me a discount, no intention of tearing it apart simply for that, but is there any concern of short or otherwise?
4) Our battery stopped charging years ago, these were notorious for such, but I purchased a new one last year and hoped the replacement MB would allow charging again. No such luck though. Is there anything I can do, BIOS update etc, to make the battery charge?
5) Anything you folks can think of for me to test to insure the new motherboard is working properly?

P.S. This was a correct replacement board according to MB serial numbers. Everything else seems to be functioning properly other than mentioned. Our graphics went out on the original MB.

Some of the wires had pushed out of the harness that connected the other two fans. I double checked and re-attached those so now the laptop is running quite a bit cooler.
EVERYTHING IS GOOD TO GO!

Satellite Pro A10 - need some info about RAM upgrade

In regard to the above machine : please can anyone advise :- how many memory slots does it have.
I think it is two but am not sure.
Also what max size memory module can we have in this laptop please.
If it is 2 @ 1gb per module, then we would have a total of 2gb.
Is the hard drive on this machine a standard laptop hard drive. Can I take the small 20gb one out and replace it with a larger one. eg 120 gb etc

On satellite Pro A10 two memory slots are available. Notebook can handle with 1 GB RAM and you can use two compatible PC2100 512MB (PA3164U-1M51) modules.
This old machine uses 2,5 HDD with old IDE connector. I found some info that it was delivered with 20GB, 30GB and 40GB HDDs. I think you can upgrade it with HDD up to 100 GB but just be sure it has the same HDD connector.

Rman - Need some info

I have worked with Rman the last days - and it is far more easier than I first thought.
I have found out to make easy backup simply with "backup database" command - but my question is now how do I test this backup.
If we imagine that the server is falling apart and I have to build this database up again, can I do that simply with this "backup database" command that I have used ?.
If this backup can do it, I should be able to rebuild the database on my local pc with this backup I have made - but how ?

It isn't clear what you mean by your server "falling
apart". Two possible scenarios are:
I) Your server is unavailable. In this case you would
need to follow the procedure for disaster recovery. In
such a situation you can rebuild your database on a new
server, provided you have the following (on tape or
elsewhere):
1) Full RMAN backup.
2) Current controlfile or a backup controlfile.
3) All archive logs since the full backup and online
redo log at time of failure.
4) Server parameter file (or initialization parameter
file).
5) It is also helpful to have ancilliary files such as
network config files (tnsnames.ora and listener.ora)
and the password file. However, these aren't absolutely
necessary for successful recovery.
Given the above you can recover your database up to
the last committed transaction prior to failure. The
details of this procedure are well documented in the
RMAN User Guide.
II) Your server is still up and running. In this case
recovery may merely be a matter of figuring out which
files(s) need recovery and then restoring the file(s)
and recovering the database. This can be done without
shutting down the database provided the affected file(s)
are not SYSTEM datafiles. For SYSTEM datafiles the
procedure is a bit more involved (since your database
would have crashed).
There are several other scenarios, and it is impossible
to cover every possibility in a forum thread. Again, it
is best that you read the backup and recovery
documentation before going any further.
