HT200156 Aperture does not open
Aperture is giving me the following error when it try to open:
Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager
Referenced from: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
Any idea on how to fix it?
I was just noticing this issue with A2.0.1
Selecting multiple files in A2, only one would open in Photoshop.
I have found that, if when opening files from Aperture, the color setting profile in PS is different than the color tag in the image, such as sRGB vs aRGB, the mismatch warning appears and stops subsequent photos opening.
If the image profile matches the color settings in PS, then all selected photos open from Aperture to PS.

Help: Aperture does not open Browser window
I'm a long time Aperture user. I believe this happened after the latest release which I updated on May 27.
When I click on Aperture, the browser window does not display. Then, if select View->Fullscreen it crashes.
Actually, it used to crash. After that I deleted ~Librarary/preferences/<aperture preferences> . After that it doesn't crash on full screen -- but the full screen view doesn't appear either.
So symptoms:
On starting Aperture, I can't see the Browser window. It doesn't crash, however.
I believe this happened after the 3.2.4 update, but not 100% sure.
Window-><show HUDs> works. So I can see the Keywords HUD, Inspector HUD etc.
But no browser window, no pictures.
Mac OS version 10.7.4.
iMac 2.8 GHz Core i7 (late 2009). 16GB memory. 3TB disk.
Things I have tried that haven't fixed the problem:
(1) trashing preferences file in ~Library/preferences
(2) Start Aperture with Shift
(3) rebooting
(4) disabling preview in preferences.
I'm hoping this is something simple, but I'm out of ideas on what to look for.Not sure what to look for in the console window. I will try to log on as a different user -- they won't be able to access my Aperture library, though right?
It crashed again. This time, it showed a blank (black) screen when I entered full screen, except for a tiny back-arrow "Projects" in the top left. When I clicked on that, it crashed again. Here's the crash log:

After I installed Mavericks I have trouble with opening aperture
What kind of trouble? Does it not launch at all? Or hang, or crash? Is there any error message?
What is your Aperture version? For compatibilty you need to update Aperture 3 to version 3.4.5 at least, better 3.5.1. -
On my MacBookPro - After updating iPhoto 11 to version 9.3.1, it does not open and shows a box "Aperture library needs to be upgraded" with choices to update or Quit. If I quit it closes iPhoto - if I try to update it goes to the App Store and requires a purchase of Aperture - I do not want to purchase Aperture.
If you tried the First Aid Tools without success, make a backup of the iPhoto Library and rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager as described by Terence Devlin:
uprgraded to yosemite all good but iphoto crashes every time I attempt to upgrade the photo library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Image cannot be rendered because Aperture does not support image format
Dear all,
I have installed apple Aperture 3.03 and the complete Nick software plug-in selection:
• Dfine 2.0 for Aperture
• Color Efex Pro 3.0 Complete for Aperture
• Silver Efex Pro for Aperture
• Sharpener Pro 3.0 for Aperture
• Viveza 2 for Aperture
History
Until a few days ago the system was running ok / no notable issues on performance. / all pug in seem to run good / no issues. Also
• I Run OSX10.4/ Aperture 3.03 ( 32Bit mode)
• My library contains just over 10000 images / approximately 140GB
• I have recently updated the OSX software update including the security update 2010-005
• as well as the Snow leopard graphic update 1.0
• As far as I am aware all updates where automatically recommended by OSX Software update ( no manual intervention).
• As far as I remember after update the system still was running ok but honestly I can not tell you how many times the Nick Plug in started out of Aperture.
After all, Several times I continued using the system / still no noticeable problem until the following was happening:
Problem:
After creating with "PT gui" a panoramic image File type: "TIF" Pixel size: 5112 × 2556 (13,1 MP) I imputed this file in to Aperture (drag and drop). During the attempt to eddied this file with "Nick Define 2.0" the system was hamming up No response for several minutes from Dfine 2.0 / Aperture" At the end I had to "force quit" the applications.
After the consequential reopening of Aperture I tried again to eddied images with any Nick software Plug-In but each time Aperture prepares any image previously stored in my Library ti open the Pug in the following Error message appears:
*"This image cannot be rendered for editing because Aperture does not support the image format"*
Currently non of my previously in the library safed images can be opened in a Nick software Plug-In this applies to all file types I have tied " Raw, tif, jpg"
• I am still able to eddied normally with Aperture ( so far I do not find any other issue)
• A newly imported Raw image after being taken with my EOS 5D can be edited in the completed Nick software Plug-In selection ( so far I do not find any other issue)
The following actions have been taken to overcome the issue (all not successful):
• I restored my Library out of my back Up ( to previous time of event ( no Time machine back up)
• Uninstallation of all Nick software Plug-In selection
• Uninstallation Aperture Reinstallation Aperture / Nick software Plug-In selection
• Repairing the library ( all three possibilities)
• installation of latest EOS utilitys
Questions
• Can you support me to overcome this issue?
• Have you heard similar issues of Nick user Running the Aperture plug-ins?
For me it is really strange that even after replacing the the library in my normally not connect back up the problem still exists (this should be not affected by the event as the back up was not done any more) / new imported images are editable with the Plug-In.
I would be happy if you could support me in this issue.
Best regards,
Matthias
PS: I have reported this issue to Apple (via Aperture feedback) as well as contacted the Nick software support and currently waiting for feedback.

I have just had the same problem
I use
• Aperture 3.03 with a iMac 2.8 Intel Core 2 Duo with all files on external hard disks (mac extended fomat as apple suggests) with referenced masters.
• Camera Nikon D300, with probably 75,000+ images on 2 hard drives
• Photoshop CS2 with PhotoTools 2.5 plugin
This has been working perfectly until yesterday when the system froze when I was using PhotoTools 2.5 with Photoshop CS2 - as a result of which I resorted to a force quit.
Since then on most of my files it has not been possible to use an external editor.
A message appears saying: *Editing Error - This image cannot be rendered for editing because Aperture does not support image format*.
The problem seems to apply to the attempted use of any external editor (including Noise Ninja)
The following have each been tried, all unsuccessfully:
- Using each of Aperture's library 3 first aid options
- Rebuilding directory using Diskwarrior
- Checking for virus using Virus Barrier X4
- Defragmenting library hard disk using TechTool pro
- Changing permissions settings
- Using Disk Utility first aid to repair permissions and checking main disk
- Removing some plist elements when open 'show package contents' of library
- Setting up a(n almost clean) new system, with newly loaded version of Aperture, with a new library from a vault saved prior to the crash when the problem first occured
Several things seem to me to be totally bizarre:
1 - The problem is the same on the other library hard disk which was not in use at the time
2 - The problem still occurs when a back up vault saved prior to this problem is loaded - using a new hard disk with a new system and a newly reloaded and upgraded Aperture software
3- The problem seems inconsistent. It appears to affect some photos but not all. Even from the same shoot, some photos can be edited using an external editor, whilst others cannot (but as far as i can tell most of the photos in a particular album seem to be consistently affected)
4- The only way around it seems to be if I import a new (copy image) from the original master. Then everything works ok, and I can successfully edit that copy image in photoshop / phototools plug-in.
I am beginning to wonder whether what has been corrupted is Aperture's ability to make copies from the master file which it then uses with the external editor (I have no real idea whether this is correct)
Does anyone have any ideas or solutions - or has anyone else been suffering a similar problem?
Eric
PS: As a professional photographer this problem is a really serious issue for me - and I really don't really want to go to Lightroom or Capture One -
Aperture does not recognize that there are images to be imported on an SD card. My workaround is to copy the images from the SD card to a folder and then import the images from the folder. Aperture also imports incredibly slowly after the update to 3.4
Check your Import settings in the Import Panel, i.e. all that might exclude the image type you want to import:
If you did not exclude any file types, and still Aperture will not import, remove your ImageCapture preferences fro your user library:
To remove the image capture preferences:
If Aperture is running, quit Aperture, and log off and on again.
Open your user library from the Finder's Go menu: Hit Command Shift G (⌘⇧G) and then type in: ~/Library/Preferences/ then hit return.
In the window that opens remove "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist"
and look into the subfolder "ByHost": if there are files named com.apple.ImageCapture something .plist remove them too.
then try again.
And if that still does not help, remove the Aperture preferences as well:
~/Library/Preferences/aperture.plist
Regards
Léonie
P.S. in MacOS Lion and later the user library ~/Library is hidden by default.
You can reveal it also from the Finder's "Go" menu:
Finder > Go, then hold down the options ⌥ key, until the Library appears in the drop-down menu, select it and open the Library folder. Then go to the "Preferences". -
IDVD 09 and Aperture 3 not open
When I try to open idvd or Aperture 3 with X 10.6
I get the error message: iDVD cannot be opened because of a problem, check with the developer to make sure IDVD works with this version of Mac OS X. Be sure to install any available updates to the application and Mac OS X. It is a brand new computer,, I just got it, I would think that the applications would work. I get the same message with iMovie. I also used the software disc to reinstall and that did not work either. I went to the library preference, nothing mentioned about these applications. I dont want to reinstall the operating system.
Any suggestions appreciateThere are actually a couple reasons to have both. If you have a multiuser system - either with one computer or a home network - sharing an iPhoto library is very easy to set up and nearly bug free, whereas sharing an Aperture library is quite risky. If you have created any books, calendars or cards in iPhoto, those do not get imported or converted when you migrate your photos to Aperture. So you should not delete photos in those creations unless you want to delete the creations. In addition the latest version of Aperture does not create these things so you may want to keep the iPhoto program around with an empty library as you can access your Aperture library in iPhoto via the iLife browser. Personally, I use both. I take all of my top photos every month and export a folder of fairly large JPGs which I then import into iPhoto. Then every one in the family can use the iPhoto tools for making desktops, screen savers and whatever else they want. The originals are well protected from all the other users.

Aperture will not open- HELP!!!
Can anyone help me? Aperture will not open and I'm worried that I will loose over 35000 photos. When I try to open Aperture this is the message I get:
There was an error opening the database for the library “/Users/philcammarata/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary”.
Does anyone have any suggestions or am I just screwed?
Looking forward to hearing from someone.
PhilOK good, version 2 on Mountain Lion would be dicey.
Do you have backups of the library? If you don;t now would be a good time to make one.
The first step is to run the Aperture library first aid procedures. Hold down the option (alt) and command keys while starting Aperture. This will open the first aid window. Now select and run Library Repair.
Once it is done post back the results.
Good luck -
This image cannot be rendered for editing because Aperture does not support
Editing Error: This image cannot be rendered for editing because Aperture does not support the image format.
I have been having this issue when trying to open photos in CS4. It only seems to be affecting images from the last year or so, although I'm using the same cameras (Canon 7D, 5D, and S90) as before. My library is large, going back to year 2000, and all the older images seem to work fine, but most all of the recent files display this error when trying to open them is CS4. I've tried the methods described in other threads and on the support website, namely starting aperture while holding option and command, pulling up the options to rebuild the library in various ways. I've done all three options, the last two twice, with no change. This is very frustrating to not be able to use the program in the way I had planned... Any ideas? I'm wondering if my library is simply too large- although I'm not sure if breaking the library into smaller chunks is the best way to go. I prefer having all my photos together. I have found that iMovie fails to operate properly when events get too large. Is this a similar problem?Again, thanks for the input. As for the first suggestion, when I import without renaming they all work, but as of late, all appear to work no problem. It seems like it was a block of time from roughly October 2009 through November 2010 where most all the files imported during this date demonstrate the problem. As for the second suggestion, I've tried both 8 and 16 bit TIFF and PSD file types selected in the editor preferences, with no luck.
My next move has been to relocate the offending files out of their current location to another location (they are referenced, not managed). In doing this, I encountered what seems to be a file access or privelege error message, although about 20% of the files were moved, and in doing so, it seems to have solved the problem for those. But I don't have a good way of isolating the involved images outside of Aperture, and I don't want to move them with Finder anyways since that would ruin the referencing.
This bug is getting so complicated I'm ready to throw my hands in the air and just go back to Lightroom. Aperture has so much potential, especially in regards to integration with ipods, iPads, other Macs, etc. but in the 4 months I've been using it, I have spent WAY more time addressing buggy issues like this one than the amount of time supposedly saved using Aperture instead of Lightroom. -
When trying to get the images to open in Photoshop, I have recently got this Error message This image cannot be rendered for editing because Aperture does not support the image format.
I am not sure why this has happened as it has been fine up until now?
ThanksI assume you have defined PhotoShop as your External Editor and chosen an External Editor File Format in Aperture's Preferences? Maybe you should do this again just in case something has gone wrong.
Hope this helps -
Aperture does not recognise TIF files from Nikon CoolScan
The TIF files from my Coolscan are good in every other application, but Aperture does not recognise them. I've tried re-saving the TIFs as JPG and PDS but Aperture doesn't recognise any file generated from the TIF. Maybe it's something to do with the scanner driver? Any ideas how to load these files into Aperture?
You might check the color space that is assigned to the files. If you are using Nikon Scan software to manage your CoolScan, there is a preference for setting the color space of the saved file. FWIW, Nikon CoolScan .nef files are a 'raw' file, not camera raw, that was/is a Nikon proprietary format for their scans. If you use the Nikon Scan for image editing, the edits are non-destructive in saved files and can be adjusted by re-opening the file in NS. Adobe first made editing camera raw available in early 2003 and the Nikon format preceded that. Nikon's camera raw format also has the .nef extension, but is not the same as the CoolScan .nef-- really confusing. I suggested checking the color space, because Nikon has different internal names for Adobe RGB(1988) as well as their own Wide Gamut space.
All said, I've not had a problem opening .tif scan files in Aperture. -
Aperture will not open library - permissions not correct -- but they are
How do I get Aperture to open a library when I get an error message saying the permissions are not correct, but the permissions are correct, and other libraries open fine?
I was using Aperture current version with a library on an external drive connected via airport extreme. I imported about 15 images to an existing project in that library and was editing the images when Aperture closed suddenly. When I try to reopen the same library I get an error message that says Aperture does not have access to that library because the permissions are not correct. But the permissions are set to everyone read write. Aperture opens other libraries on the same drive with the same permission setting.
1. I ran disk utility repair permissions -- it says it fixed permissions on my laptop internal drive, but disk utility does not recognize the external drive so apparently it did nothing on that drive. Same error message on that library.
2. I deleted user name >> Library >> Preferences >> com.apple.Aperture.plist and tried opening the library again. Same error message.
3. I tried rebuilding the library using control command Aperture. Same error message.
4. I used "show package contents" on that library and moved the project I had been working on when Aperture crashed to another drive and created a new library and imported the project successfully. Works.
I read through existing topics and found suggestions like 1-4 but none work for me.
I would be grateful for any help!
Thanks. Please tell me you aren't trying to do this wirelessly!?!
If you're wired to the Airport Extreme, that's better, but forget about running a remote Aperture library on a wireless connection! Even wireless 802.11n isn't fast enough, though I'm sure someone will argue that.
Still, the Airport Extreme only has a USB interface, which is painfully slow! Firewire 800 is supported on all the new MacBook Pros and on the 17" "gen1" MacBook Pros. I'd highly recommend a FireWire 800 external hard drive or even a eSATA interface if you're running Aperture libraries remotely!!
Depending on your total storage needs, just replace your internal MacBook Pro's hard drive. I've replaced a few in the past couple of weeks in some MacBook Pros to the 320GB WD Scorpio drive. Also buy a cheap (~$20) external USB enclosure for your old hard drive to repurpose your old internal drive and aid the restoration of your data. Next install the drives and use Migration Assistant to restore your data to precisely where you were before the hard drive upgrade. Pretty easy except for the actual install of the hard drive in the MacBook Pro, which can be tricky and requires special Torx tools; certainly more complicated than the standard MacBooks. Unless you know what you are doing here, pay someone skilled to do this for you.
Seriously, I'm sure part of your problem is the lousy transfer speeds for Aperture trying to read data, causing data corruption, especially when you force quit so often. -
Every attempt to open Aperture results in a spinning beach ball. When attempting to force quit, every program freezes. I am running a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.3, 8 GB Ram. Have deleted and reinstalled the program from the App store with the same results. Purchased Aperture a few months ago and began without difficulties. However, recently, the program simply stopped working. Suggestions?
Try a few of these:
-Hold option while opening. This will ask you to create a new library/choose a different one. Create the new library, see if it opens
->If it opens, it's a library issue. Swap the library back to the original one.
->Try running Library First Aid (cmd + opt while opening)
->Make a backup first, run each of these until it opens.
-If it does not open, test in Safe Mode (shift while booting)
->If it works there, it's user login items or startup items that can be removed from /Library/LaunchAgents, /Library/LaunchDaemons, /Library/StartupItems and ~/Library/LaunchAgents.
->Show no mercy in these folders, but don't trash everything just yet. Move it to a safe location on the desktop where you can easily put these files back. Reboot, test.
->Put some files back from harmless/well-known developers. Reboot, test.
->Rinse and repeat until Aperture doesn't open.
-Test in a new user account
->If it opens here, it's part of your user preferences
->Log back in to your main user
->Open ~/Library/Preferences, pull com.Aperture.xxxxxx.plist
->Logout, log back in, test.
If it keeps up, contact Apple or try verifying/repairing the disk through Disk Utility. -
Aperture does not accept keyboard entry
When I need to enter information by keyboard, Aperture does not see the letters or keys being typed. All other applications on my iMac see the keyboard strokes with no issue.
Never mind. It seems to apply mainly to text entry when exporting a picture. When you first open up the "Export" dialogue box, the text entry doesn't work. If you click anywhere within the box and then in one of the text entry fields, it works.
Sorry to bother everybody.

Message was edited by: catngregI have had the same problem with Firefox in Ubuntu. However, a simple solution I use is to go to System->Preferences->Keyboard and type in some characters into the 'Type to test settings' edit box. This will bring back the ability to type characters into Firefox once again.

Firefox window does not opens. It shows an alert message -"Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." I have deleted the processes in task manager and restarted Mozilla.Even then it does not opens. Pls get me a solution.
Make a new profile ('[[managing profiles]]'); if the old profile directory is still there, just copy-and-paste its contents into the new profile directory.
