Hello, I'm using Yosemite with OSX Server. Is there a way of configuring adaptive firewall for VNC and RDP connections?

Apple has never documented what the adaptive firewall really does, as far as I know. It seems that the built-in network services send it some kind of notification whenever there is a connection attempt. The Screen Sharing service is one of those, so it should be protected. There is no built-in RDP service, so if you somehow added one, it would not be protected.

How can I Create a Client Configuration File for RemoteApp and Desktop Connection with Server 2012?

I have a working RDS RemoteApp site and looking to test out the feature in Windows 7 Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\RemoteApp and Desktop Connections

Server 2008, and I'm running 2012.
Any suggestions or tips on how I can begin testing this with Server 2012?

You can manually enter the path to the 2012 feed and it will connect and download the RemoteApps and Desktop connections.
If you need a sample .wcx file I have posted one here a couple of times. If you want I will look for it and post a link.

VNC and RDP problems with 1800W

I have two 1800W routers, one in the main office the other at the secondary office. If I VNC or RDP from a PC in the main office to a PC in the secondary through the GRE tunnel I do not see the other screen, the mouse moves okay but no picture. If however, I do the same from the secondary office to the main office it works fine. I have tried changing the access-list, the NAT, everything, but nothing seems to work.
I have the original network still going. It consists of (main) a 2600 and secondary a 1700. To setup the 1800 routers I copied the conf from the originals. The origianl network works fine both ways with both VNC and RDP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your TCP segment size. To find out what it should be you can try the following.
From a PC at site A, ping a PC at Site B. You need to set some ICMP switches though.
C:\>ping 10.10.2.100 -f -l 1500
The -f is set the Do Not Fragment flag, the -l is the send buffer size. Continue to do this each time decreasing the packet size until you have a successful ping. When you find that number, that is your maximum TCP segment size. You can then set that on the router. Any packet that is too big, the router will respond to the sending device saying it is too big, send a smaller size. It will do that until the packet is less than or equal to the number you set. In most routers the largest size you can set is 1460, so that might save you some time. To set it in the router, go to the tunnel interface and enter "ip tcp adjust-mss

Configuring PPP options for only one VPN connection

How do you configure PPP options for only one VPN connection that is using L2TP over IPSec? The built-in VPN client in 10.4.9 is failing authentication because it won't talk MSCHAP-V2 (this is the only authentication protocol I can use) with the server. I am able to establish a connection if I add the following to /etc/ppp/options:
refuse-eap
refuse-pap
refuse-chap
refuse-mschap
require-mschap-v2
However, these options will affect all PPP connections. The preference file that contains the network configurations (/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist) also contains PPP options for each specific network service. After some searching around, I found that there are several keys that seem promising (MSCHAP2, etc.). But these keys take a string value and I have no clue what they should be. These keys are defined in SCSchemaDefinitions.h file.
Any ideas?

I just tried to check all of ADDT´s "includes" files for any internal references (read: "require" or "require_once" statements) to the file "tNG_config.inc.php". So far I can only see this file referenced in the file "tNG.inc.php" (within the "$KT_tNG_uploadFileList1" array).
So what could this mean ? Maybe you´ll have to make copies of the the original "tNG.inc.php" as well and save them as, say, "tNG.inc_ital.php" file plus make sure that these copies internally point to a different "tNG_config_ital.inc.php" file -- because it´s always the first mentioned file which gets referenced from e.g. an ADDT login page (see the "Load the tNG classes" - part)
I want to use ADDT’s User Registration Wizard and I have looked at all the neat stuff in the Control Panel/Login Settings
The Control Panel will always update the main "tNG_config.inc.php" file, so any further modifications will have to become manually applied to the custom files you´re creating.

Silent Deployment for RemoteApp and Desktop Connections 2012r2 / Windows 7

Have created a 2012r2 RDS Farm, have Silent deployment working for windows 8 clients, however, cannot seem to get it to function correctly for windows 7 clients.
have followed multiple directions from url's stating to create the .wcx file and run the technet powershell script...applying it in GPO...to NO AVAIL!!!
Does anyone out there have any solid instructions on how to configure Silent deployment of RemoteApp and Desktop Connections 2012r2 to windows 7 clients.

I've downloaded sqldeveloper version 1.5.4(build main-5940)
when I try to set NLS parameters as following it is thrwoing following error
TOOLS->PREFERENCES->DATABASE-->NLS parameters
on right side pane
I've changed

actually I want to make SqlDeveloper to make case insensitive search.
when I google, I've found to make oracle as case insensitive I need to set NLS_SORT to Binary_CI and NLS_COMP to LINGUISTIC
Default SQLDEVELOPER NLSParmeters values are as NLS_SORT---->Binary and NLS_COMP--->Binary
Now I want to make these as NLS_SORT---->Binary_CI and NLS_COMP--->LINGUISTICS.

Hello,
Load-balancing is not suported as the ASA does not supports PBR. You can try to do some work-arounds to send some traffic from one link but this is not cisco supported. I have seen scenarios about this working so if you really need it you can give it a try.

Possible solution for -8 and other connection errors

I've been struggling recently to make connections with people, often seeing the -8 error. This happened even with the most simple network setup we could find, with our routers either running with uPnP enabled or disabled, and ports forwarded or not. Often we could connect individually to the Apple test accounts, but not each other.
The fix that worked for me, and also for someone else on these boards, was to look at our network "ports" on the Macs themselves. Not the TCP/UDP ports, but the "ethernet" , "airport", etc.
If you open system preferences, Network, and from the Show: dropdown at the top choose "Network Port Configuration" you will see the hardware network ports on your machine. If you use your machine in multiple environments, such as with a wired Ethernet port, Airport, perhaps a Firewire network too, your Mac may have several IP addresses assigned to itself, even if only one is active. Installing virtualization software such as Parallels adds more ports here, with more IP numbers.
Whilst running iChat in debug mode, and watching outbound connections through Little Snitch, I saw that firstly iChat thought I had multiple IP addresses which it attempted to open uPnP with, and secondly my outbound packets had the private internal IP address of one of the Parallels network ports the person I was trying to communicate with - which would never be delivered.
What we did was disable all the ports in the System Preferences described above, except for the one in use. We then restarted iChat and our video streams opened! I believe that iChat simply gets confused about which IP address to do its uPnP mojo with, and disabling the ones not in use makes it choose the correct one.
If you follow this advice, remember to re-enable the ports you disable when you use want to use them in future.
I'm convinced this is the cause of the problem - even when I use my MacBook behind a commercial locked down Watchguard firewall the video conferencing still works, which suggests that it's not the opening of ports through the firewall that's the issue, at least for some people.
I hope this is useful information for people struggling with -8 errors - let me know how you get on.

after applying the AirPort Extreme 2007-001 update:
This is (often) soluble by disabling any third-party
wireless signal monitoring or sniffing utilities.
I don't think Little Snitch was causing any problems, for me at least. It did let me see that it was trying to talk to the other machine's non-active IP address, which is what led me to turning off the other network ports.
It's quite informative to see which TCP and UDP ports are being actively used, and where they're going.

This document says "The complete set of Case Management extended attributes that are used on an Oracle Enterprise Data Quality (EDQ) server are configured in a file named flags.xml in the oedq_localhome/casemanagement directory. This file must be modified to add new extended attributes"
On my Windows installation I do not have that flags.xml file under C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Enterprise Data Quality\oedq_local_home\casemanagement
I do however have the file under C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Enterprise Data Quality\oedq_home\casemanagement however I am not able to modify it.
Please could you confirm how to proceed.
Also, generally what is the usage of the oedq_local_home and oedq_home directories.

The base configuration directory: This directory contains default configuration data. Once EDQ is installed, the files in the base configuration directory must not be altered, renamed, or moved.
The local configuration directory: This directory contains overrides to the default configuration. EDQ looks for overrides in this directory first, before looking in the base configuration directory. Files in the local configuration directory can be modified to customize or extend EDQ.
The names and locations of the configuration directories are as follows:
If you are using Oracle WebLogic Server, the Oracle installation wizard automatically creates and populates the configuration directories in the EDQ domain with the names of oedq.home (base configuration directory) and oedq.local.home (local configuration directory). An example installation path is: WLS_HOME/user_projects/domains/edq_domain/edq/oedq.home
WLS_HOME/user_projects/domains/edq_domain/edq/oedq.local.home
If you are using Apache Tomcat, you create the configuration directories manually in any location, with any names, and the configuration utility will populate them. You are prompted to create the directories during the installation instructions.
Just copy flags.xml from your oedq.home casemanagement folder to your oedq.local.home casemanagement folder and edit the file accordingly.

Supervisor Engine 6-E (WS-X45-Sup6-E) configuration for 10G and 1G connectivity

I need to confirm something.
With the WS-X45-Sup6-E supervisor engine, is it possible to use one of the uplink ports with the X2 optics for 10G speeds and the other port with a Cisco Twin Gigabit Converter Module so as to have 2 1Gb ports?
Or does it only work with 2 10Gb or 4 1Gb only?

Sorry but you can't mix and match on the Sup 6. There's a single stub ASIC inside the card which causes this limitation.
