HT201169 How to delete songs from imusic folder on iphone5

Dear Sir,
I wish to delete the songs existing on iphone 5 & add new ones. How to ?

iOS: Syncing with iTunes - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386 -  You can sync everything or selected playlists.  "WIth iTunes 10, when automatically syncing, you can also manually drag items to the iDevice. These will show up in Manually Added Songs at the bottom of the Music tab after Playlists, Artists Genre, Albums." - https://discussions.apple.com/message/18919754

  • Please someone tell me how to delete songs from the newest/latest verison of Itunes! You can't just right click anymore... :(

So I have the latest version of Itunes and I can't figure out how to delete songs from Itunes when my IPad mini is connected; it's not like it was before when all you had to do was right click and select the delete option...
    Thank you all so much

I have exactly the same problem with videos and my right click does not work either.  There is no delete function that I can see.

  • I see how to delete songs from iPad, but there are some that won't give me the option to delete when I swipe it. Why won't it let me?

I see how to delete songs from iPad, but there are some songs that don't give me the option to delete when I swipe them. Why can't I get rid of these songs?

Do they have a cloud icon next to them? If they do, they aren't on the iPad so you can't delete them. They are in iCloud ready for you to download them if you want to and they are visible in the music app for this purpose.
If you don't want to see these songs that are in iCloud, go to Settings> iTunes & App Store>Show all>Music>Off.

How do I delete songs from an iPod Touch 5th genration. We tried many other forums with the swiping method, but when we tried it, a picture of a cloud with a red arrow appeared after tapping the delete button appeared and the song remained.

Go to Settings>iTunes and App Store and turn off Show All. That way only downloaded songs will show in the Music app.

  • How to delete songs from library after already deleted from playlist?

I already deleted several playlists in an attempt to free up space. I later learned that you have to delete it from the library to free up space. I also later learned that if I had used alt del in the first place that would have solved this problem. Is there a way to delete the songs in the library that are no longer on any playlists now? How can I find them easily to delete or is there a way to automatically do it. I've already emptied my trash and my library is way too complicated with a lot of songs not even identified. There's no way I can go to my library to look for songs individually.
Also, if you use alt del to delete a song from a playlist and your library... if that song is in another playlist, will it also make it unavailable anymore for that other playlist, as well?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    1) Make a new folder among your playlists.
    2) Drag all your existing playlists into that folder.
    3) Create a new smart playlist with the rule "Playlist is not {name of the folder}."
    4) That smart playlist should contain all songs that aren't in any other playlists, and you can delete them (though I would make sure that everything is as you expect first).
    5) Drag your playlists out of the folder, then delete the folder.
Also, if you use alt del to delete a song from a playlist and your library... if that song is in another playlist, will it also make it unavailable anymore for that other playlist, as well?
Playlists are just pointers to songs in your library — they don't contain duplicate copies of the songs. Deleting a song from the library will delete it from all playlists.

  • HT5637 How to delete songs from phone after disabling match

I have songs with a cloud next to them that I cannot delete from my phone.   I had match on but have disabled it.  When I swipe the song with the cloud icon, nothing happens.  When I download it by touching the cloud, it downloads.  When I swipe again, I get the delete button.  When I click the button, the song plays but does not go away.  When I sync with my pc, the song does not show in the library.  How do I get it off my phone?

    Hi garyfromsouth egremont,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The variable that has changed with iOS 7 is the "Show All Music" option in Settings > iTunes & App Store. This feature displays your iTunes in the Cloud purchases on your device (while they are not locally stored). You can identify these by the "cloud download" icon on the right.
To hide your iTunes in the Cloud purchases, disable this feature in Settings > iTunes & App Store.

Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
    Cheers,

  • How to delete songs from iPod?

I just got my replacement iPod today after my other one went kaputt. Everything works nicely and iTunes FINALLY recognizes my new Nano but..
...how do I go about deleting songs and adding more to my iPod? When I plugged it in, the iTunes program automatically downloaded ALL the files I had in iTunes to my iPod but I don't want all that stuff in there.
I tried to delete and add stuff to the Nano but for some reason, my music database thingy is "lightly shaded gray" and I can't click on anything.
Normally, i'd right-click on something and clear it but that's not working with my Nano. Any help?

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. Managing Your Songs Manually
One thing to remember about manually updating though is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • How to delete tracks from Music Folder?

After selecting all of the tracks of one of my iTunes playlists, i.e., an album, and clicking Option + Delete to move them to the Trash, I accidentally clicked Enter and, by default, selected the "Keep Files" option instead of the "Move to Trash" option in the "Do you want to move the selected songs to the Trash, or keep them in the iTunes Music folder?" dialogue box. I went to Home > Music folder > iTunes folder > iTunes Music folder > the folder of the album artist, but I do not see the folder of the album in the artist folder. How can I find these tracks so that I can send them to the Trash as intended?
    Thanks,
    Paul

After performing a (Finder) Find for .aif files, I located the tracks and was able to delete the playlist (album) folder with the tracks. So no assistance needed after all.
However, inexplicably, the folder with the tracks to be deleted was located in iTunes Music folder > Compilations folder, rather than in the artist folder. After finding and moving the folder of the tracks to the Trash, I checked the info of the original CD in iTunes out of curiosity and discovered that "Part of a compilation" was checked for the tracks, even though this is not a compilation (or even a live) album. I assume this sort of...tagging, I guess...was originally imbedded in the CD and is not a result of any glitch in iTunes. In fact, in the Compilations folder, I noticed several albums which are not compilation albums. I'd appreciate any thoughts or explanations as to why some non-compilation albums are checked as compilation albums.
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • How to delete photos from faces folder?

Hi my iPhoto events are all clear of photos as are all my folders.  However I have 4000 photos sitting in the faces folder - how do I delete these?

Sorry but that doesn't make sense to me. There is no reason to remove the faces thumbnails. Are you trying to empty a library or something? If so, don't waste your time. Just trash it and make a new one.

  • How to play songs from a folder that has been moved

I recently installed a second drive to my computer and copied the whole iTunes folder to this drive. I have just discovered that i\Tunes is still looking to the old folder location for the songs. Is there a way of mass moving this pointer, or must I individually locate each track as I want to play it, or will i have to re-rip all CD's to the new folder location?

If your really copied the iTunes folder to the external drive and not just the music files, then your library database should be there.
In order to connect to it you need a shift key start.
Hold down the shift key and start iTunes, Keep holding the shift key until you are prompted to choose/create a library. Select choose and navigate to the iTunes folder on the external drive. Choose iTunes Library.itl.
If you ever start iTunes with the drive disconnected it will default back to the interal drive and you will need to repeat the shift key start.
