HT201177 VIDEO stops after two vids and have to restart each time

what is freezing up my machine? After two vids it locks me out of web based video streaming

Also, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
''If Firefox is not running:'' Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
''If Firefox is running:'' You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
''Both scenarios:'' A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Refresh).
Is Firefox any better behaved in Safe Mode?

  • Video stops after two seconds

I've had a Macbook for a little over seven months, and this problem just started showing up a few days ago. It's the video. It will start playing for the first two seconds and it'll just stop there. It happens to every video I play. I've tried different DVDs so it's not a problem with the DVD itself. I also tried viewing videos on YouTube, and the same thing happens. I could move the bar thing around, but it'll just play for another two seconds. What's wrong, and how can I remedy this problem?

Someone told me to do a software update. The video works now.

  • What can I do to get my email? - I have to restart each time before it will receive new mail

Mail is not receiving new emails. When I know I've received a new email (it comes through fine on my ipad), I have to restart Mail to get it to connect to the server. In my settings I have mail set to automatically check every minute. Even if I hit the Get mail button, nothing happens.
I switched over from Office and now sorry I did.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • I have Windows 7, Firefox 8. Any other browser will play YouTube except for Firefox. I have installed and ininstalled Flash, restarted each time. The You Tube page also looks funny.

I have also tried http and https.

The latest Adobe Flash plugin adds a 64-bit player as well as the standard 32-bit player. Youtube seems to set a cookie that conflicts with the 64-bit version and therefore causes you to see a black screen when trying to play videos. All you will need to do is go to the Firefox menu on the top left, then go to History -> Clear Recent History. From there, make sure both Cookies and Cache are checkmarked (feel free to uncheck everything else) and then make sure that the "Time range to clear" setting has "Everything" selected. After that, click the Clear Now button and you're done. You should now be able to play Youtube (and presumably) other videos again.

  • Downloading stalls and have to restart multiple times. plenty of mem. left

I am having trouble downloading without restarting the download multiple times. My computer is up to date and I have plenty of memory.

Large files? Small files? Various web sites?
    Which browser?
Same thing happens with different browsers?

  • After installing firefox 5 my browser opens blank then i have to restart each time.

if i close the browser or have it open to long nothing happens or i get a blank page with an address in the address line

You have the latest version of the Flash plugin but in the future, please use the Plugin check: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/]
If you're having issues with 3.6.4 and the Flash plugin, please take a look at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and increase the timeout as indicated.

    Hello GrahamBIOM,
I understand while viewing a video or listening to some different content, you lose audio, is that correct? I will do all I can to assist you with this issue.
Does the issue occur when you have headphones inserted? If you are not sure, if you have a set of headphones available could you test that please?
Please respond back at your earliest convenience with results.
    Thanks

  • Problem when exporting movie, video stops after 2 minutes

I set up a Project containing both images and videos. They were all shot using a digital camera (Canon SD400).
When I export the 5 minute movie, around 2 minutes the video freezes, but the music (from an mp3 file) keeps playing. At 2 minutes one of the videos start to play and the video has a little yellow button showing on it in the timeline. None of the other videos have this little yellow button, although I am not convinced that this is the one causing the problem. Here is an image of it:
    http://dombovari.com/stuff/imovie.png
Any ideas why the video playback would stop when I export it? It plays fine in iMovie when I preview the project, but when exporting, the video playback stops.
    Thanks!

I have this very same problem. All 640x480 clips shot with a Canon SD550. iMovie 5 will play back everything fine in iMovie, but once I export the file using H.264 or MPEG-4, the video stops after about 30 seconds (of the 3 and half minutes of the video). The music still plays, but the video has not exported properly (and it shows in the file size).
What WILL work is if you export it to web, but I can't use that. I need it exported at its full quality. (Also will not work, by the way.) But, again, it plays in iMovie just fine. I even tried exporting from the timeline file (with the reference media files) in the iMovie file package—but I get the exact same results.
Quite frustrating considering it works in iMovie just fine. Any other ideas, folks?

  • Technical question:  Is it possible to work on the same Lightroom catalog across two computers and have the catalog sync? If so, how??

    Technical question:
Is it possible to work on the same Lightroom catalog across two computers and have the catalog sync? If so, how??
Here's a little more information on what I am trying to do.
I have a desktop computer with 4tb worth of pictures that has Lightroom and Photoshop on it. I also have a laptop with Photoshop and Lightroom. I would like to be able to edit those same pictures with their current edits that are currently on my desktop on my laptop. If this can be done, I'm sure I need to be on the same wifi network for my laptop to be able to access my desktop's photo library. I am technically savvy enough to map a network drive, but how do I get my two Lightroom catalogs to sync when I make a change on one of my computers? Would i be working only on one catalog? Or two separate catalogs that would need to be manually synced to the other computer? Would it be beneficial to put my lightroom catalog on something like dropbox?
I'd appreciate any information or tutorials if someone knows how to do this.

I do this by having my LR catalog and photos on an external drive that I swap between the two computers.  I am on Windows and have the same drive letter assigned to the drive on both computers.
Because the photos are on a portable drive I back up the portable drive to another hard-drive every night or after important work, because portable drives are susceptible to damage or loss.

  • I added music to a set of clips but want to stop the music there and have no music in the rest of the movie. How do I do that?

I added music to a set of clips but want to stop the music there and have no music in the rest of the movie. How do I do that?

there are two ways applying music to an iM project
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/#mov3b0f955f
as 'Background' which offers lots of automatisms, but lil' control
    or…
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/#mov3b0fb470
as 'clip' - which can be handled asany other clip, edited, shortened, copy/paste, faded, located, etc

    Try this:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • Youtube videos stop after activating bluetooth headset

Anybody else having youtube videos stop after activating a bluetooth headset?
I've seen a few people mention it, but no consistent resolution. One post said to change the audio frequency under midi config, but the panel only gives an option of 8Kb.

I'd love to see some resolution on this as well. It seems any(?) flash based application or plugin will refuse to play audio and/or video when the default audio output device is a bluetooth headset. I've tested this in several browsers with flash video. Oddly, if the web-based flash video is downloaded, VLC is able to play it with no problems.
My guess is this is a conflict between Adobe's Flash player and the bluetooth drivers in OSX.
The suggestion regarding changing the MIDI frequency to 44Khz is also not an option as this particular headset is limited to 8Khz (one channel)
