Are you trying to install 6.1.4, or the latest version, which is 7.0.2? That error means that you are either downgrading, or your phone is jailbroken. Downgrading is not supported, and jailbroken can't be discussed in an Apple hosted forum.

HT201210 Error 3194 when attempting update?

I currently have the software version "4.3.5" and I continue to try and update to the "5.1.1", but when I try it gives me the error message "3194" I have tried to resolve this with information from the apple forums and such but nothing works. I have tried un-installing and re-installing iTunes, and resetting ALL things on the iPod. Please I have been at this for HOURS.

I can't update my iPhone 4S from iOS 5.1.1 to 6.0. I keep getting the 3194 error. I updated iTunes to the lates version, I restarted my phone and computer but I still get this error. I do not have my phone jailbroken and it had never been jailbroken. Can someone help me please?

i can not update my iphone 4, when i try to update on i tunes it extracts the software but when it gets to verifying iphone i get the error code 3194,
i have tried to update also on the phone through the iphone and get a message saying not enough free space you need at least igb of free space.
i have also tried turning of norton security and firewall but no joy.

I have fixed this now by clicking on the fit it for me button, on this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034 it fixes the host file for you, Happy Days

HT201210 i tried to recover my ipod touch and it told me that i have to update to the latest ios first so i did and at the end i got an error- 3194. so please can anyone tell me what to do.

When i finish downloading the update it goes through a process and it comes up with a message- error 3194.

3194 means that iTunes cannot contact the update server to verify the update. This can happen if the servers are being over loaded, or if the hosts file on your computer has been modified. HINT: This can also happen if your iPod was ever jail broken...
