HT201210 firmware file not compatible
i was trying to update my ipad 2 to ios 7 (on windows 7 - extracted the ipsw from the .dmg file) (model Number: A1395) when itunes said the ios 7 .ipsw file which i used was not compatible 'firmware file is not compatible' despite double checking it was the correct file! Any fixes/solutions to this issue please? Many Thanks.
iOS 7 is BETA software.
No support can be provided here.
You may have bricked the device by trying to steal unofficial software... good luck.

Since posting the above - I have now tried downloading the update on my iPhone rather than via iTunes, and its just worked and installed and seems fine! Was a lot quicker as well than the download time via iTunes

It means that the phone was previosly hacked and the baseband altered. It can no longer be updated or restored with a stock iOS.

I have an iPhone 5 GSM a1428. I am trying to update to IOS 8, and I have the right file, and I know how to do it. Also I have registered my UDID to get the download. Whenever I hit the file of ipsw, there is an error that says the firmware file is not compatible. I have tried numerous things to get it to work. PLEASE HELP ANYONE!!! I WOULD LOVE FOR THIS TO WORK!!!

While getting your .ipsw from a torrent or some "developer" who sells them is stupid and pretty much guaranteed to cause migraines it is not illegal. It can't be a theft as the cost of the upgrade when it is released is free.
It is a license agreement violation by the "developers" who sell and post these out on the internet and Apple can go after them (and I hope they do) the person buying it or downloading it has not violated anything.
Since this person registered their phone sounds like they are a developer and you wisely steered them to that site. -

I believe that it was in sleep mode, but my old Mac didn't do this. When I came back to it after being in sleep mode, it would start right back up, none of this white screen delay before getting started.

For the last few day my phone keeps searching for a signal and at the same time my phone keeps saying activation required.
when connected to the computer iTunes cannot read the phone and suggest restoring the phone, after downloading the new ios5 a get a message "cannot restore the phone because the firmware is not compatible"
I have spoken to vodafone (network provider) and they have informed me that it is because the sin card is do old and need to be replaced.also locate the .ipsw and delete it forcing itunes to download a fresh file and then restore

Pretty sure I just downloaded the .exe files to the SD card (I have a directory called "drivers" there & ran from Windows, no need to boot from anything else. Didn't even need to use Safe Boot. The files do need an .exe extension IE someimes downloads as _exe. No idea why but would just need to rename if download has the underscore and not the period. The you can run them.
Was so easy I really did not think about it. One of the Intel Platform drives does say "requires 1.60 update" so that is the one you need. Do the 1.60, reboot, and then the Intel update.
Key point is the release note on the Intel Platform Installer
"Release Notes
1.Please install the Windows BIOS version 1.60 or higher for Encore WT8-A (PDW09x) before installing this Intel Platform Installer update." note this says "BIOS" and not "USB BIOS" which is a smaller file. -
