need to restore as new phone. computer says i must turn off location services through iCloud before i can restore. the problem is that i cannot access iCloud on my phone. have been unable since i updated to ios 7
Either force the phone into recovery mode, as described here:

Or, login to iCloud.com, on your computer, locate the phone, then erase it.

To load the settings should take about 5-10 minutes if you have a strong wifi connection. Using public wifi is a bad idea. Once the settings are loaded on it will load the rest of the backup (apps, pictures are the really big things) this can take hours based on the wifi network you're using.
It's very important to stay connected to POWER and WIFI throughout the restore process.
If the settings aren't loading I would reset the iPhone (sleep/wake and Home button for atleast ten seconds) and start the process over.

You were already provided the answer. If you do not have a backup of the phone while the photos were on the phone, they are gone. When you restore your phone from an old backup, anything that has been saved to the phone since that backup is deleted. Sorry.

I did a backup from my 3G and want to get the backup now on my iPhone 4, but the backup from the old 3G is not shown as an option to configurate. How do I get the information on my new phone?
First, back up your old iphone manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your old phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.

After that, connect your new phone and let iTunes set it up. iTunes will detect the old 3G backup and ask you, if you want to use it to restore the info on your new iphone. If you agree, all settings and data will be present after the process is finished.

If you have an iCloud account, change your AppleID and iCloud passwords immediately. That will keep a thief from connecting and deleting your iCloud backups. When you get a new iPhone, if from an Apple store, the genius bar staff can download the information you have in iCloud and restore it to your new iPhone.

I am trying to set up a new iphone 5 replacement and i don't know how to get my back up to the new phone.
Well you would be first need to be using the ITUNES program. Not be on itunes the internet page. The program will usually be a music note icon on your desktop. IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE INTERNET = safari , internet explorer, firefox, etc ....your not using the program itunes. YOur surfing the web.
with that said , always make sure your running the latest version of itunes. If on a mac >in the upper left , next to the little Apple, click on the word itunes> check for updates.

In this case you would have to reset your new device (Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings) in order to restore it from a backup during the device setup.

I haven't backed my phone up since June 2012, but my phone syncs for a few seconds whenever I would plug it into my computer. However, I have not manually synced it in a very long time. Is there any way to restore my new phone to what was synced the last time I plugged my phone into my computer (apps, music, contacts, pictures, messages, etc.)? Or is that something completely different. The guy at the Verizon store said I could, but the only options I'm getting for restoring the phone are from last year and before. The info that was on the old iPhone can only be retreived either by restoring from iCloud/iTunes back up or syncing from iCloud. You need to chek these places and if nothing is there then I'm sorry that data is gone and you will only have the back ups you see.

My IPhone 5, was backed up and restored. Music doesn't sync, when reconnecting device each time, it only offers restore or new phone rather than sync option. I have reinstalled ITunes but still this hasn't worked. Can anyone help please?
This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

I have restored my new phone from I cloud but when I connect to my PC to put some music on it asks for set up as new phone or back up from a date from iTunes that is too old. Help it's doing my head in
Select setup as "New", the next screen should prompt you to rename your phone. Just name it what you already have it named. After that, you should be able to sync and all of your data & settings will still be exactly as you've already set them up on your phone. The message is more threatening than what really happens.

Hi I recently destroyed my iPhone 4, before replacing it I backed it up through iTunes... I restored my new phone from my old one's backup but not one single picture was copied.. Did I lose all my pictures or are they just hiding on my com?? is there a simple solution??? You password: You have set it! It might be your passcode or you mioght have set it accidentally, so test all of the passwords you normally use. If you cannot get the password you backup is lost, but you can still sync your iTunes content. -

If you plug your phone into your computer you can sync and backup so that when you get the new phone you can restore from a backup instead of setting it up as a new iphone

What phones do you have (old and new?) If your old phone was backed up using Verizon's Backup assistant, the new phone should pick up those contacts, as the Verizon cloud has replaced Backup Assistant, or ratherm BUA has been "absorbed" by the Cloud.
Knowing which phones you are using will help us to give more specific information for transferring the contacts. -
