  • How to delete backup data in icloud to free up storage space?

My iphone 4s has not been backed up in 3 weeks because it says "there is not enough iCloud storage available". Through viewing the data sizes currently backed up in iCloud, the Camera Roll is taking up 99% of the space. I deleted almost everything from the camera roll and photo stream on the actual iphone device, but what do I need to do in order for the storage space to be freed? Is there another place I need to check to delete data (i.e. photos) and regain the storage space available and resume successful backups?
    Many thanks,
    SM

So by selecting "Delete Backup" it will delete everything backed up to iCloud from other apps as well, correct? Is there anywhere I can go to view the actual data being backed up and specifically delete certain data? Without knowing exactly what has been backed up, I'm hesitant to delete everything.

  • How to delete backup of 60gb that is on Macintosh HD?

I'm about to use time machine to create a backup and im using a 160GB hardrive. It is saying it needs 200GB to back the system up but I have since found there is 60GB of backups on my Macintosh HD that is probably taking up the space.
    How can I delete this?
And before you all say just get a bigger External Hardrive, I have used this before to back up via time machine so I know it works.
Thanks for your help in advance.

  • How to delete backup files from old backup drive?

    Hi,
I recently changed the backup drive used by Time Machine, from /Volumes/vast4 to /Volumes/vast2 (for example). Time machine now happily backs up to vast2 and shows available backups going back to the date of the change from one drive to the other. I no longer need the old backups on /Volumes/vast4, and I do need the 2GB of space they occupy. These old backups are not visible in Time Machine - it sees only backups on the new backup volume. Completely manual deletion of /Volumes/vast4/Backups.backupdb, with rm -r in a terminal, gives "Permission denied" even when I have admin privleges. Is there a way to do this deletion from within Time Machine, or at the command line? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jason

First try to use Disk Utility to repair that disk permissions. Then you can also get info on that folder and take a look at what sharing and permissions are set there. If you don't see your name there (your user name, not the admin) then add it by clicking on the plus sign. Set the permissions to Read & Write. Now try to delete the folder.

  • How to delete backup vault

    Hello,
I back up my entire Home folder on an external drive and back up my vault with it. When I update it again I delete the old updates, but i just got aperture so ive found out that it's telling me "You don't have sufficient privileges" to delete the old vault. Help please!

If there's an Authenticate button on the dialog box which states you don't have permission to delete the old vault, click it and type in your administrator password. Otherwise, find the folder enclosing the vault in the Finder, choose Get Info from the File menu, change the owner to your account in the Ownership & Permissions section, give yourself Read & Write access to the folder, and uncheck the Locked checkbox if it is set.

  • HT201210 How do I backup iphone on a different hard drive?

    Hi!
I want to update my iphone but I need to back it up before updating. Fine.  But it keeps backing up to my C drive and I don't have room for it.  My preference is set for a drive other than C.  So, I'm not sure why it keeps trying to backing up in C?  I need a back up for my back up?
    Thanks in advance,
    Lissa

    oh... that really *****...
My C drive is only has 5GB free, total 40GB.  It's a really old computer.  Anyways, everything is stored on an external hard drive.  I hope they'll change that someday.
    Thanks for the info!

How do i delete the backup on my iphone4!!!!?????

There is no backup on your iPhone.
If your iPhone's backup is on your computer - updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, go to iTunes > Preferences and under the Devices tab, select the backup you want to delete and select Delete Backup.
