HT201210 I wanted to update my phone and I wanted me to connect to iTunes, but when I did it, I was told I cannot restore my iphone. Now I don't know his to turn my phone again
I wanted to update to iOS 7, but first I had to make an update to the previous version. When I pressed update, I was shown a message saying that I have to connect to iTunes. When I did that, iTunes said I cannot restore the phone (which was the onyl way I could update apparentyl) but the phone is still showing the same message"connect to iTunes". What am I supposed to do? I tried turning it on and off, but it doesn't work. I can't use my phone right now.

hi, my name is taylor ginter and i recently found my ipod 5. When i got it the front said it was disabled and it wont let my type in my passcode. ive tried connecting my ipod to itunes but it will not let me. ive also reset it and tried but it just went back to how it was when i first started. how can i enable it and keep all my pictures and apps i have on it currently? im not positve on what my iOS is but i know its oneof the 7's.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it.
This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. -

You could order the Full Retail Version of OS X (Black DVD with a silver X on it). Regarding always starting up in Open Firmware, in this thread a bloke had the same problem until he disconnected his peripherals before restarting. See if the entire thread helps:

My iphone4s does not turn on,when I connect to power ,it shows the message "connect to itunes" but when I connect to iTunes,my pc does not detect my phone,so iTunes does not detect my iPhone.
Are you running the most recent version of iTunes for Windows on your PC? You may be running an older version that is incompatible with the 4s.

Before you did the resotore Via itunes you should of made a Back-up of your Data. But to be honest, i don't think that you would be able to get that stuff back.. Sorry mate

If you backup with iCloud only - yes your apps are included in the backup. If you backup and sync with iTunes - only your app data and documents, device settings and things like that are included in the backup.
So if you use iTunes only, you have to restore from the backup and then sync with iTunes. If you are going to update to iOS 5 now you should backup your iPad ... Or even iOS 6 when available on the 19th - backup your iPad. -

You need to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes, and that should recognise the phone and let you reset it back to factory defaults - you can then restore/resync your content to it.
