I have actually tried that also but unfortunately that also does not work. Actually My complete screen is frozen. I can see on the screen " Slide to Unlock " . But when i try to slide its nothing like the screen is Dead.
Sorry, I not sure if I am understanding your reply completely as I mentioned a few different things in my post.
If you try to reset the phone by holding the home and sleep buttons continuously (ignoring the 'swipe to turn off' message), does after about 10 -15 seconds the screen turn off and then display the apple logo. If it does, then what happens?
Whn i connect to Itunes it does Sync the phone and does everything finr. BUt still the screen remains the same. I cannot still operate the screen. I mean even if i try to unlock still nothing works.
Also if when connected to iTunes are you able to select the Restore button and then allow iTunes to reload the firmware and restore the phone to 'new'?
By your descriptions, it sounds like a hardware failure to the touch screen. But, if its only the touch screen, then the hard reset (home/sleep buttons till you see the apple logo) should work and when it reboots, it should go to the home screen but you will not be able select anything. Is this what occurs?
If nothing works, and you cannot restore it to 'new', then I would suggest that it needs to be returned for warranty replacement.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Hi after updating my phone to ios 5.1.1 shortly afterwards my phone entered recovery mode. I have tried everything, i have updated windows, updated itunes, removed all third party usb's from computer, plugged iphone usb round the back not the front, checked security settings and restarted my home computer, but when i try to restore through itunes i always get the same "itunes could not restore iphone from an unknown error (1)" I have been to the apple shop and they told me £120 for a new phone, i said no as this isnt really my fauly a new update and its ctashed my phone. PLEASE HELP???

I have an iPhone 3GS which I updated with the last firmware (iOS 5) 2 weeks ago. Everything goes ok.
And suddenly, while the phone was recharching. It asked me to activate it but I was unable to do it as it was rebooting constantly every time I connected it to iTunes.
I tried both 2 restore modes (Restore and DFU) but since I can't achieve a restore with the last Apple iOS 5 firmware. I got the error code 1.
I I tried on 3 different computers but same error. I really don't know what to do next...
I already called Apple Customer Care and I'm still waiting for an answer. I let you know.

My iPhone 3gs got an update today ios 6.1.6 but when i press install update my phone shutdown and shows connect to itunes display, after i connect to itunes it shows unknown erro (306).....whats is happening and what should i do ?

Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
To reset iTunes Store cache:
In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences(PC).
Click the Advanced tab.
Click the "Reset cache" button.
Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
Open iTunes.
Access iTunes preferences:
On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
Click the Parental Controls tab.
Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.

i m using iphone 3gs & i m updating the OS from 4.1 to 6.1 ,,it is showing the message that ur iphone cannot be activated because the activation server is not temporarily unavailable

I have an iPhone 3GS and have updated to IOS 6.1. Before with emails there was a user bar at the bottom which allowed you to move emails to folders, print etc, but it now seems to be removed. Can you help ?
Close out of the mail app, double click the home button and completely close out of the mail app.
Then do a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release then wait for the phone to boot back up.
then check your mail again. -

Samsung, Sony and every other company are constantly coming out with new models and dropping older models. Many older Android phones also cannot be updated to newer OS versions, as their manufacturers don't release firmware updates for them. Apple is not unique in that aspect of the business - they are all competing with eachother.
Despite many people's wishes that companies were ultra-altruistic, they are not (and largely because their share holders do not want them to be). They make products to sell them and make profits, and whatever is necessary to do that in an ultra-competitive market is what will be done. The pace of change is not going to slow down, if anything, it is just going to continue to ramp up. And millions of happy share holders, and tens of millions of iPhone customers are constantly demanding more new things, not stable older things.
That said, the iPhone 5c and Apple's move into the trade in program, are attempts to offer better options to people on a tighter budget than others.
But, as with any personal item, you buy what you can afford. Nobody is entitled to the best and the greatest just because others have it. -

My friend had an iPhone 3GS and the updated it to IOS six and it wasn't laggy at all.
I strongly recommend updating to it, As it's one of the latest stable versions of the OS.
Look up some YouTube videos on people's outcomes.
Worst case scenario you can always upgrade to an iPhone 5 haha. -
