HT201210 iphone  5 in recovery mode wont restore

I have tried to restore my iphone as it requires because my phone is apparently in "recovery mode".  Itunes tells me it can restore because of application 9.
Should I just go to the AT&T Store?

Did you try to restore it using the recovery mode as discussed in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
You may also need to try using DFU mode, power down the iPhone, start iTunes on your computer, then while holding the power button on the iPhone connect it to the computer.  Continue to hold the power button for three seconds, and while still holding it press and hold the home button.  Hold both for another ten seconds and then  release the power button.  Continue to hold the home button for another twenty seconds.
If you take it anywhere it should be the Apple store, the AT&T store will not be able to do anything.

iphone 3gs is stuck in recovery it will not turn on unless plugged in and in restore mode saying to connect to itunes. when i restore it i get errors 3194, 1604 and 1611, i dont know what did this and im not sure what firmware the iphone is. itunes will recognise it in recovery mode but the computer will not. in dfu mode it will not restore either.

Well, as a start, Recboot hosed the network database on your computer, which could be the problem. Especially if you had used it at some time in the past. Look in /etc/hosts, and if you see any lines containing "gs.apple.com" delete those lines.
From your profile you are also using a version of OS X that is not compatible with iTunes 10, which is required to update iPhones. You need OS X Leopard 10.5.8 as a minimum.
See: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error9 for other tips. You could have a bad or dirty connector on the iPhone also. Try cleaning it with a soft, dry toothbrush.

  • HT201210 Iphone stuck in recovery mode!

I unplugged prematurely before update was finished, and that sent my Iphone 4S into recovery mode. I don't want to restore b/c I haven't backed up in about 2 weeks. I've tried RecBoot. Also tried holding sleep and home button down simultaneously. Neither worked. I'm in a rush to fix this. Can anyone help?!

Ok, so I was having the "searching..." signal for a long time, and then I decided to restore, after the restoration was done the iphone entered into recovery mode, i tried restoring again many times with no success, itunes keeps giving me an error (-1). The iphone is not jailbroken.

i really dont know what can cause it... best guess, somehow the iOS is not being saved correctly on the device...

  • IPhone 4 stuck in recovery mode, wont restore - Error (9)

    Hey all,
At my wits end here, my phone froze on the train home tonight, rebooted it, and it came up with the connect to iTunes icon.
Looks like its in recovery mode and I cant get it out. Ive tried getting into DFU mode, different USB ports, different machines, different cables, re-installing iTunes AND RecBoot on Windows and OS X.
Is there ANYTHING else I can do?

  • Phone stuck in recovery mode wont restore

the other day i plugged my phone into itunes and it started to update the software but became frozen so i unplugged it. When i plugged it back in itunes detected a phone in recovery mode but it doesnt recognise the model, serial numberor name. when i try to restore, every thing seems to go to plan but it freezes and wont finish restoring. can anyone help please?

Received excellent tech. support from Apple on this issue and after a full day of screwing around was able to get our Iphone up and working again without many of the aps and contacts that we have recently added. I'm an older guy and this reminds me of my early windows experience and not what I would expect from Apple. This is not a comment on the quality of the tech support but on the software glitches. Get it right guys or someone is on your heels who will!

  • IpodTouch 5 stuck in recovery mode, wont restore.

My ipod is stuck in recovery mode, when i connect it to itunes and press "Restore Ipod" which then downloads iOS 6.1.2, when the ipod software update is complete im left once again with the "Restore Ipod" option which does the whole process again like it didnt happen, ive downloaded the update atleast 5 times and turned off anti virus and firewall.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT201210 iPhone stuck in recovery mode error 11

Was having major battery issues over the last couple of days:
From fully charged to 13% in less than 4 hours,
Phone extremely hot to the touch after use
Showing "no storage left" on device, yet I had 6GB.
Ran behavior scan, nothing out of the ordinary except for the
photos... 300 in camera roll, 1000 in photostream, but it was
showing I had a total of 1300 in camera roll and that's why
    I've been having storage issues...
Anyway, the main issue now is that I'm stuck in recovery mode.
Tried to restore numerous times and have been getting error 11.
My iTunes wasn't up to date, so I will be doing that now and
    giving it another shot.
    Any ideas?

    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.
    Hope this information helps ...

  • Ipod is stuck in recovery mode: wont restore

i spaced out and connected my ipod (mac formatted) to my friends vista pc. ever since then my ipod has not been responsive, figuring i had all my music backed up i tried to restore it and it has been stuck in recovery mode whenever i connect it to a mac ever since. my brother has a windows pc and it connects perfectly to it... help please?

It's your penance for trying to steal music.
Hook it up to your computer and check System Monitor to make sure it is still showing up. If it is, use Disk Utility and repair the disk. Then restore it in iTunes.

  • Iphone 4 in recovery mode after restore

After buying a new computer and attempting to sync my iPhone 4 to the media library on the new computer, it kept telling me I needed more space on the phone (wrong) so I attempted to restore the phone and erase the memory, so I could start fresh.
However, the phone has now gone to the "connect to iTunes" screen after attempting the restore, windows/iTunes on the computer doesn't recognise the device & all of the advice on apples support pages doesn't work. I don't have a phone for them to call me on now and I'm not "conveniently located" to an apple store so I'm reaching out to you guys.
    HELP!

PS - not jailbroken new or old unit.

my iphone 4 will not come on keeps displaying the connect to itunes screen  once i connect to itunes gets an error 21

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
