HT201210 Iphone5 locked in recovery mode

My iphone went into recovery mode and can't get it out of it. Tried charging it but as soon as i unplug it it goes dead. Tried restoring it but error message appears with the code 11 or 21. Any suggestions what to do next?

Best thing to do is to take it to the apple store.

The ipod is locked in recovery mode. Everytime I plug it into the computer iTunes pops up and says it has detected ipod in recovery mode and it must be restored before using it with itunes.
After I go throught he extracting software and then it locks up in itunes saying its waiting for the ipod but it just sits there for hrs with no result.
    I need help please

No. You have to restore. To allow the restore try the following:
    - A reset.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Manually placing the iPod in Recovery Mode
    - Placing the iPod in DFU mode.

    - If you can't turn the iPod off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • TS3694 iphone5 is in recovery mode and when i try to reboot it on itunes it keeps coming up with error 21

iphone5 is in recovery mode and when i up date it on itunes it keeps coming up with error 21.

These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

  • IPhone5s stuck in recovery mode after lots of times displaying blue screen of death, cannot restore it as iTunes displays error 14 on verification, same time phone crashes again with blue screen.

hi, my iPhone5s is only 3 months old, it has been like a whole month now since it started crashing, displaying the blue screen of death, since yesterday it was in the loop of restart-crash, and now it is stuck in recovery mode after lots of times displaying blue screen.
I cannot restore it as phone continues crashing again with blue screen, when iTunes displays error 14 on verification.
help please, this phone is all the means of communication I have.

It's a hardware problem. That's it. You shouldn't bother yourself with this situation. Just see an AASP.

  • IPhone5 stuck in recovery mode during iOS7.0.6 update - no way to secure media?!

    Hi Apple,
I have run your recent iOS7.0.6 update on my iPhone5 and it got stuck in the Apple logo + progress bar screen (N.B. I had no problems updating an iPadAir and iPhone4). To get it out of the update infinite loop (no pun intended!) I put it into recovery mode, i.e. pressed Power+Home buttons until I got the blue iTunes + USB cable screen. iTunes wants to restore the phone continuously and I cannot get it out of the recovery mode now to save my media. Do you have any suggestions?
    Many thanks!

That is not very helpful, TJBUSMC1973.
Is there really no way to get the media off the phone before restoring it?
No, once the device in is recovery mode, there is really no way to get the media off of the phone.  However, perhaps you have an iCloud backup?  Check www.icloud.com and log in with your Apple ID & password to see fi you have any data there.
Other than that, you'd have to independently research third-party data recovery processes that may or may not be helpful.  But since those are not approved by Apple, we can't make any recommendations.
The device has effectively 'crashed'.  That's why you can't get the data.  Other than the third party options I mentioned, all your Apple-authorized options have been explained.

    Hi krisomalley12,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I would recommend placing your iPhone in recovery mode manually and trying the restore. Please follow the instructions to complete this process in the attached article.

  • I have an Iphone 3G and it won't restore, I've tried everything and it's locked in recovery mode... What should I do?

Recently, my Iphone 3G failed... horribly... I tried plugging it in and a pop-up said it was on recovery mode and had to be restored. So I did that and I got an error message for a few days until I somehow managed to make it work. Then it happened again less than a week later, but I only got 2 error messages until it worked.
Now today it has failed again, and no matter what I do it doesn't even come close to getting fixed, saying a different error number everytime, going from 21 (while being frozen with a white screen) to 160x (while being stuck preparing for the restoration).
What should I do to get it fixed? I've never jailbroken it or done anything of the sort :/
    Thanks in advance

Have you tried a "hard reset"? If so, I would take the phone to an Apple store. If not,
    1. Make sure the phone is OFF
    2. Hold the HOME button and then press the power button and HOLD IT.
    3. Hold both buttons until the phone comes ON, goes OFF and come ON again (about 45 seconds)
    4. Re-sync with iTunes.
    Hope this helps.

  • My iPhone5 Stuck in Recovery Mode After Update

I tried updating my iPhone 5 through iTunes just now and there was an error while installing the update. Now the phone is in recovery mode and the best part is, iTunes can't even detect my phone anymore. No matter how hard I try, restarting the phone, unplugging the USB and plugging it back in, restarting my computer... heck, i even reinstalled iTunes! iTunes still can't detect my iPhone and my iPhone is still in recovery mode!
Anyone facing the same problem as me?

tried that too, even tried the updating the Apple Mobile Support Driver or soemthing like that too but to no avail
in the end i plugged my iPhone to my wife's laptop, and surprisingly her iTunes recognized my iPhone in recovery mode.
So i restored everything to factory settings using my wife's laptop, then tried plugging it into my computer again.
and guess what, my iTunes finally recognized my phone, so I proceeded to restore my backup data into my phone.

  • My iPhone5 is in recovery mode, Itunes keeps saying error 9 occurred

My iPhone 5 keeps going into "recovery mode" unexpectedly. I've restored and updated it at least 3 times. It is now in recovery mode but cannot be restored because "error has occurred (9)" I'm in the US for a few months but live in Canada so I can't talk to an apple store. Any ideas how to fix this?

  • Locked in recovery mode after 3.0 update, common solution not working

A few minutes into updating my touch to 3.0, my computer says "found new hardware" and wants to install the driver for "Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)". It can't find a driver so it asks me to install from disk, but of course there is no disk.
the ipod shows the picture of the usb cable and the itunes logo, and restarting it doesn't do any good. every time i plug it in, i get the same thing.
people have told me that the resolution to this problem is this
    1. Dissconnect your iPhone.
    2. Reboot & reconnect the phone.
    3. Select "Install Drivers Later".
    4. Open the Start menu > (Right click) My Computer > Select Properties.
    5. Select "Device Manager" from the top left pane.
    6. The phone will be listed under "Other devices" as Apple Mobile Device.
    7. Right click it and select update drivers - Select "Browse my computer..."
    8. Navigate to c:
    Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    9. Click okay - Watch it install - Backup & Update with iTune - Chill out.
okay so i followed that to the letter, and it tells me "windows could not find the driver software for your device, etc."
    so, could somebody please help?

    Here's another option for you-
If you have access to another PC running iTunes 8.2, you can use that to restore you Touch to version 3.0. After the restore, you'll be able to sync with your regular PC and reload all your things.
    Here's how-
Do not connect you Touch to the 2nd PC yet. You'll need to copy the 3.0 update from your machine to the 2nd PC. The update on your machine should be located at C:\Documents and Settings\(account name)\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates. The file name is iPod2,13.0_7A341Restore.ipsw Copy this file into the same folder on the 2nd PC. It's possible that the folder ......\iPod Software Updates doesn't exist on the 2nd PC. If so, you'll need to add it, then copy the iPod2,13.0_7A341Restore.ipsw file into it.
Connect your Touch and do the restore, but don't sync it. You'll now have 3.0 installed and you should be able to connect to your main PC and sync your Touch.
