HT201210 is it possible to recover a backup password

is it possible to recover a backup password,my password is encrypted but i didnt set a password :-S

You cannot recover a password, otherwise it would not be secure.  Could you explain the situation a little more, especially since your subject line refers to an article on update and restore alert messages.  It sounds like you are saying there is an encrypted password on your backup file that you did not set...is that correct?

  • Is possible to recover hot.backup of a nonarchive database?

I have read on several books that hot backups must be done on a database set with ARCHIVELOG mode, but it is physically possible to recover a hot-backup of a database that was in NOARCHIVELOG mode. Obviously some transactions would be lost, but it is possible to do it?
I'm trying to do it unsuccesfully (when I try to startup the data base he asme for recovering the database and then always ask me for a archive log file.......)
    Thanks

What you have red is correct.
You can't do hot backup on non-archivelog database.

  • Time machine - possible to recover deleted backup files that have yet to be overwritten?

I recently had to wipe my hard drive and reinstall my OS after my MacBook Pro failed to start.  I managed to restore all my files from a Time Machine backup on an external HD after installing OS Yosemite.
After my computer is up and running again, I switched on Time Machine again, which started deleting my older backup files to make room for a new backup.  Before I know it, it has deleted all my backup files except for the latest one, the one which I used to restore my computer.
Then Time Machine discovered that it still would not have enough room for the new backup and stopped.  So I don't think anything new has been written to my external HD yet.  Given that Time Machine may not have overwritten the old backup images (fingers-crossed), is there any possibility that I could recover those?  If so, how do I do it?
The old data backup is extremely important for me.  Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much.

  • Possible to recover interrupted backup?

    Unlikely but true:
I had set up to backup my MacBook with Time Machine. In the middle of this process the MacBook was stolen, but the thieves left the FW disk. There is now a partial backup on it. Is there any way for me to retrieve whatever had been backed up to it? I have tried to just run Time Machine from another computer, but it says it wants to reformat the disk.

  • Is it possible to recover autofill forms that has been removed

I accidentally clicked remove all (instead of remove 1) in the autofill preference.
Now I have many sites that I can't remember the passwords.
Is it possible to recover web form passwords that has been removed from autofill?
Also I couldn't find them in the keychain. Please Help

Also I couldn't find them in the keychain.
    Open Keychain Access  /Applications/Utilities
    Select Passwords on the left.
Use the search field top right corner of the Keychain Access window to find web site addresses
If you want Safari to "remember" a new password for a site, first make sure User names and passwords is selected in Safari / Preferences - Autofill.
Navigate to a site. Enter the user name and password. When prompted, click Yes. That will create a new keychain for that site for you.

Is it possible to recover my data from iCloud backup without working wifi? I have as many other upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.0.2 with the result that the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth no longer works. However, i can connect to iTunes via cable but there is wrong version of backup.

    Answer is no.
If you want the iCloud backup you have to have n internet connection, thus WiFi.
The not working WiFi has happened with quite a number of users.
It is not exactly clear what is the cause but there are suggestions to clear it up:
Some people have had success by removing an apostrophe from the iPhone name. If your iPhone is called something like “John’s iPhone” then this might work. Go to Settings > General > About > Name and change it to something with no apostrophe.
Some people have reported success by putting the iPhone into Airplane mode and then going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, but the problem may return.
You could also try going to Settings > Control Center and disable Access on Lock Screen then turn your iPhone off and on again.
Make sure that your router firmware is up to date.
Try backing up your iPhone and then restoring it. Check how to factory reset an iPhone for details.
If nothing is working for you, try contacting Apple or take your iPhone into an Apple Store.

  • Restored iPhone to fix a ringer failure, but lost all my texts and pictures in the process. Then, my backup failed to mount. Is there any possibility of recovering them?

So my iPhone 4S stopped ringing, and I was missing all of my calls. The speaker works, it's not on silent, and I'd exhausted most every other option (messing around with accessibility options and various soft resets), to no avail.
So I reset it to factory settings, logged in with my Apple ID, and lo and behold, my backup failed to take. All my apps got restored, but my texts and all of my pictures are missing.
So here's what I want to find out.
    1. Does the reset procedure involve writing over all old information with 0s?
    2. If not, is it possible to recover the data, in full or in part, through some alternative methods?
The phone is out of warranty, so I'm willing to try whatever it may take to get this data back.
    Thanks in advance.

Apps have never been included in the backup, so is there actually a backup?
Have you failed to use the device as designed, meaning syncing contacts to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service?
There are some 3rd party programs that claim to be able to extract data (like sms) from a backup, try a google search.
Unless you're willing to spend and extremely large amount of money, there is no way to recover the data that may still exist on the iPhone.

  • Is it possible to recover erased information after reinstalling os x lion if I haven't made any backups?

We were having some problems with our iMac not starting so I searched the Internet and found That I needed to reinstall os x lion to fix the problem. Before reinstalling the program, I tried the Disc utility option to see if that would fix the problem. It said there was an error and I deleted the disc thinking that it was my external hard drive and not my computers hard drive. I then reinstalled os x lion only to discover all my files were deleted. Is there anyway I can get my stuff back? Obviously I am not great with computers and I thought my computer automatically made backups, so I never made any backups. Please help

hew, some may be recovered, but...
It may be possible to recover some erased ones, but you must quit using the Computer immediately, because the OS will think it can write to those freed blocks on the disk.
Either boot this one in Target mode...

  • Is it possible to recover overwritten iOS backups?

I recently backed up my iphone to itunes, bofore i restored it to factory settings. when I then tried to restore my iphone to my backup, it was nothing there. I believe the old backup may have been overwritten automatically when i inserted my iphone to my mac again. is it then possible to recover these files somehow?

There is some way to simply download the iOS (as compared to download and install).
If you download and install, you are required to keep the iPhone attached to iTunes throughout the download.  If you simply download, there is an "eject" button that shows up during the download, and you may press that and remove the iPhone from iTunes.  I suggest this latter approach.  Then once the download completes, you can reconnect the iPhone to iTunes and complete the process.

  • I deleted the photos via Finder and empty trash long time ago. The thing is, that I want to recover one event or album.  The event appears in the iphoto but when open, it shows "!". Is it possible to recover the photos?

I deleted the photos via Finder and empty trash long time ago. The thing is, that I want to recover one event or album.  The event appears in the iphoto but when open, it shows "!". Is it possible to recover the photos?

No.  When you removed the photos via the finder you damage the library.  Photos should always be removed from the library using iPhoto, never with the Finder.
If you have a Time Machine backup of the library from before you deleted the photos you can restore the library to the Desktop and export that album from it to import into your current library.
It's been too long to be able to try one of the file recovery applications.  You sure to have overwritten those files with new files since them.

Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Your only bet is to resotre from the Time Machine backup. However when you do this the sync process will promptly delete the calendars again, so you need to work through the slightly convoluted method detailed in this page:

If it is completely dead in that it is not making any noise indicating it is not spinning etc. then you cannot use any software to try and recover data, these software programs generally only help if the hard disk is physically ok but the data is damaged.
In your case it would appear to be a hardware problem and the only option would be to send it to a specialist data recovery firm. If you went to Apple they would only be able to replace it with a new one (if under warranty) and would not do any data recovery.
The specialist recovery firms would completely dismantle the hard disk and replace faulty parts to enable them to get it working and to copy the data off. Your profile does not indicate your location, but an example firm (I have no personal experience of them) is Datatrak Labs see http://www.datatrack-labs.co.uk/company_profile.asp
By the way, why have you not been making backups? Time Machine makes this so easy it is no longer excusable to not do this. I had a hard disk fail in one of my Macs earlier this year (hardware failure), but because I had a full Time Machine backup I lost nothing.

  • My iMac has less than 2 years. The hard drive from 1TB just failed. Possible to recover data?

The support store just told me that the hard drive of my IMAC 27" is damaged and the solution is to replace for a new one. Meanwhile, I saw this: "Apple has determined that a very small number of Seagate 1TB hard drives used in 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac systems, may fail under certain conditions. These systems were sold between May 2011 and July 2011."
I bought my system a couple of months before. Anyone knows if it's the same hard drive?
Another question is. Is it possible to recover recover the data from the damaged drive?
    Best regards

If the hard drive has failed then that data is lost.  That's why you always need to maintain an up to date backup copy of your important files on an external backup hard drive.  Hard drives do fail; being an electro-mechanical device they are the weakest link in any computer.
    Hope this helps
