Water damage is really a tough hurdle to get over if the steps you have already tried do not work.
The next step would be to tranfer your Logic Board to a working 3GS to see if it works.
If the Logic Board is good or you just want to try one more thing, try cleaning the Dock Port very well with Isopropyll Alcohol. If still problem, at most replace the Dock Port Assembly.
Throwing good money after a bad iPhone is not a good idea.

iOS: Unable to update or restore
If the steps in the article don't help, this phone either has hardware damage or was previosly hacked/jailbroken and is DOA. -
I dropped my iPhone on the ground, and as I went to pick it up, I started to swear under my breath as I realized my iPhone was in recovery mode. I'm like "how would an iPhone be this sensitive -_-," and so as my iPhone's docked unto my laptop, and with relentless attempts to restore my iPhone, I always find iTunes stuck at the "Waiting For iPhone" stage and I honestly have no clue what to do at this point. What should I do to bypass this or fix this problem? Or do I just wait? -_-
Nothing except that when I turn it on, there's a USB cable and an iTunes logo above it, indicating that it's in recovery mode.

i have an iPhone 4 that is stuck in a recovery loop. i try to restore it but it comes up with an error code (-1) towards the end of the restore. can someone please help me?
i just baught it off someone.. so im unsure if it was jailbroken or not.. and i dont think its under warranty now.
is there a software or something along those lines that would indicate what peice of hardware is faulty?
i baught it in this recovery loop thinking it was going to be a cheap way of getting a new phone without having to do much.. but now im starting to think its a brick -
Was stuck on "Waiting For iPhone." Now it won't respond to the charge chord
My phone has been giving me a lot of trouble today and I've been looking all over for tips and tricks, but so far, nothing has helped.
It's an iPhone 4. One of my apps was being glitchy after a recent update, so I decided to delete it and reinstall it. When that didn't solve the issue, I decided to shut my phone off and turn it on again to see if it made a difference. Since then, it's been stuck in a loop. At first, it was stuck on the Apple logo. I managed to get it into recovery mode and connected it to iTunes, but only got as far as the "Waiting For iPhone" message.
After several attempts to get it to recover, it no longer responds to the charge chord. Pressing and holding the top and home buttons only gives me the Connect To iTunes image and when I reconnect it to my computer, ... nothing.
What should I do? Is my phone lost for good? If I take it to the Apple Store in another city, is there anything they can do, or am I out of luck because I'm out of warranty? The message that you're getting about the USB port is Windows rather than the Shuffle, ignore this as it will all work anyway.
How were you formatting the iPod shuffle? Using Windows? If this is the case I'd assume that was probably a bad choice that Windows asked you to make.
In any case I would download the latest iPod updater from http://www.apple.com/uk/ipod/download/ - open this and then plug your iPod into your computer - update the firmware and then everything hopefully should be sorted -
My iPhone 4 is stuck in the recovery mode after downloading iOS7. iTunes screen reads "Waiting for iPhone". It's been waiting for two days. Can anyone help?

my 3gs is stuck in restore mode and when i hook it to my computer to update it goes all the way thru till its to the part where its waiting for iphone and that's it it stays there no matter how long i leave it hooked up.. does anyone know how to fix it??
That does happen. It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system. If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

My ipod touch wouln't turn on because I dropped it, so I plugged it into the computer. It went into recovery mode and is now stuck on a waiting for ipod screen. The ipod shows the apple logo and and an empty loading bar. Please help. Thank you.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

So awhile ago the screen broke so I bought a kit on ebay to fix it, my boyfriend did a beautiful job using a tutorial on Youtube, it turns on, tells me to connect to itunes. I did that and now it's been connected to my laptop for 9 hours and the status bar never moves. I'm getting very frustrated! I've tried putting it in DFU mode but nothing changes.
Please help me! What do I do?!https://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?facet=content&type=discussion&sort=rel evanceDesc&showAnsweredFirst=true&q=This…

i was trying to update my iphone 5 but it got stuck on itune screen. whenever i try to restore it says error (1669) what can i do. please help
Try these troubleshooting steps.
If that Article did not resolve it... then perhaps a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is required..
Be sure to make an appointment first...
Note:
That error message may be indicative of the Device being Hacked / jailbroken.... If this is the case then you are on your own.

hello
i bought my first mac and i want to become an iOS developer and creat app for iPhone iPad but now i have only iPad 4 and i want to buy iPhone 5s but I'm not sure to buy iphone5s now or wait for iPhone 6 because iphone6 may have bigger screen if i buy iphone5s now can i creat app for iPhone 6 if it has bigger display without buying it just test it on iPhone 5s
thanksOne of my favorite things about developing for iOS using Xcode is the Simulator. It runs any of the iOS devices simulated right on your Mac. If you don't have a hardware device to test your application on, the Xcode simulator will surely be your best friend.
So to answer your question less vaguely, yes. You can own the iPhone 5s and develop for the 6. There is no real release information of the iPhone 6 at the time anyways, so I would not let it play too large of a factor in your decision. -
Hello having major issue with Apple TV, have searched the forums over the last week but can't find a solution that works.
My ATV is not working when I had it plugged into TV so I thought I would plug it in and restore it via iTunes. I have tried three different micro-USB (all of which work on other devices). So in iTunes I had downloaded the latest ATV software and it starts to restore the ATV (extracts/prepares/verifies) but the restore gets stuck on the part of "waiting for Apple TV" and then nothing happens, as in overnight nothing happens. I have tried using the remote to reset the ATV but nothing. The flashing light is constant.
Anyone got an ideas on what to do when the restore doesn't work?Best to take it to Apple

My sister messed up her phone and was trying to take a screen shot ,in the end she got it in dfu mode blank screen and cant turn back .so i connect to itunes and it says its in recovery mode ,clicked it and loaded the software i downloaded before gets to the "waiting for iphone" and its stuck on the swigaly loading bar and stays like that any ideas to fix it and there is no turning back i tried exiting dfu.
If it won't restore, you'll need to take it to the Apple Store for an evaluation.
