I just tried to restore my ipod to its factory settings, the process was not completed. Says an error (1) has occured, now my ipod is stuck in recovery mode. What do I do?

If you are having troubles restoring your iPod and the steps in the article you came from didn't help. I would continue with this step from the following article:
Check for hardware issues
Related errors: 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer might have a hardware issue that stops the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Make sure that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

Okay my Ipod Touch is stuck in recovery mode and will not restore because "the ipod software update server cannot be contacted". I have tried to restart my computer, restart my ipod, tried different computers, and re-intalled AND updated my itunes and it still will not restore. It is stuck on the picture of the usb cable pointing to itunes and won't do anything else. I'm trying to restore it because my memory was full and I wanted to clean it out and now the ipod is useless, please help me restore it!

- Try on another computer/network

IPod touch 4G stuck in recovery mode- it won't even go into DFU

When I accidentally disconnected my iPod touch 4G during an update yesterday, it automatically went into recovery mode (the screen with the USB cable pointing up towards an iTunes logo). Now it won't turn off, it is recognised by neither my laptop nor by iTunes, it won't even go into DFU, so there's absolutely no way, as far as I can tell, to fix it. I've looked all over the internet, and the only other person I can find who has experienced a similar problem hasn't received an answer in about a year. This program may geit out of recovery mode. However, if something went wrong with te iOS and it went inot recovery mode then it might not be able to get it out of recovery mode. When in recovery mode the data is not accessable.

IPod touch 5g stuck in recovery mode.

Hi.
I tried to update the software on my ipod touch 5g, for some reason the connection was lost between the ipod and the PC midway through installing the software on the ipod, now im stuck in recovery mode.
I keep losing connection between ipod and pc since trying to update the software. Basically the connection is lost then comes straight back.
My ipod shows the lead with an arrow pointing towards the itunes logo.
Itunes tells me that im in recovery mode and gives me an option to restore.
Whenever I have tried to restore it downloads the latest software then nothing happens, just stays in restore mode.
I have tried putting it into DFU mode but nothing appears to happen after following the steps.
Really annoying as the next available appointment at the Apple store is on Monday and would like to get it fixed a lot sooner than that if poosible.

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.

I was updating my ipod touch 3rd generation (ios 4.3, i think) and I saw a wasp and left the computer on in the middle of the updating process and now the ipod is stuck in recovery mode and it says the only way to get it out is to recover it, but that will erase everything!!! A few hours ago, I tried updating my 5th generation iPod touch to iOS 8. It ran into an error and couldn't update, which left my iPod touch stuck in recovery mode with a screen showing a USB cord pointing to an iTunes symbol. I tried searching for ways to get my iPod out of recovery mode without restoring it to its factory settings, but after a couple hours of seeking, I decided I might as well just restore it. I clicked the restore button, and when it finished, it said that my iPod touch couldn't be restored either. Now, I have no clue what to do. May I have some help?

- Try another usb port

Ipod touch 2G stuck in recovery mode

I was given an Ipod touch 2g (not sure if it is an MC model or not) with 16 gig. The device won't show a picture on the screen, but when I connect it to the pc, it is recgonized and the apple mobile device driver is installed. Itunes shows ipod in recovery mode and click to restore. I attempted to restore, downloaded the update from apple, and when it tries to restore or update the software, the screen turns white and then I get an error 21. I attempted this on several different computers with no luck. I have tried reinstalling itunes, holding down the power/home keys as described, turning off all of the security/firewalls, and still no success. I was desparate and tried using redsnow to load the software with and without cydia and I actually had a glimpse of hope in that the screen came to life showing an image with loading jailbreak data, then it started the I think it's called verbose booting showing the programming lines, and I noticed it was reporting errors such as watchdog timeout and nand format mismatch. I ran a diagnostic test through itunes and itunes reported that there was no ipod detected when it was plugged up wanting to restore it, totally contradicting itself. Can anyone help me bring this thing back to life? I know it must have some signs of life, for there is music that showed up in the library that was not on my pc before plugging up my itunes. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Go download RecBoot, kick it in recovery mode and install the firmware manually. You can download it here.

When you get done upgrading and for some reason you get and error or are stuck in recovery mode, use RB to get out of it. It might still work fine at that point.

IPod Touch 4g stuck in recovery mode after iso 5.0 upgrade attempt

Sorry that I'm late to the party and too stupid not to know better when updating my ipod touch just days after the update was released, when will I learn.
I have tried nearly everything I've seen posted in this community and others ... unpluging all usb, holding down sleep and home, re-installing itunes 10.5 ... you name it.
I can't find an answer to this problem anywhere, but rather people yelling at other people for not being able to help and badmouthing eachother because they are ****** off at Apple.
Is there any updated news on what the issue is with error 1604 or why Idevices are getting stuck in recovery mode?
Are the servers still swamped and I just can't get through?
Next time I will wait about 3 months before upgrading a new operating system (but then, I think I said that the last time I did this.)

Try a manual install, as outlined in the link below. You can kick it out of Recovery Mode using RecBoot.
