If Join was on then your home wi-fi must be set to Non-Broadcast. If you did not set this up (maybe your provider did) then you will need to find the Network Name they used, and any password they used. The SSID is Security Set ID and to see more try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSID . Basically it is the name used to identify your router/network. A lot of times the installer will leave it set as LinkSys, or Broadcom or whatever the manufacturer set it as for default. Your best bet is to get whoever installed it to walk you through how they set it up, giving you id's and passwords so you can get in. HOWEVER, if you are not comfortable with this (if you set security wrong, etc.) you would be well ahead of the game to hire a local computer tech (networking) to get this working for you. You can also contact the vendor of your router and get help (if it is still in warranty), or at least get copies of the manuals as pdf files. Sorry I can't give you more help, I hope this gives you an idea where to go from here to find more.

Hi if you seen my previous post, or you might have not. My safari app isn't working and the setting for safari in setting insn't responding. I reset all setting hoping this would work and fix the problem. However, i held both the home and off button because i didn't want to do the reset anymore because i was stuck at one place for a long time. the reset with the home did happen, but the resetting all setting is still happening and progress bar hasn't move. Im not sure if its stuck or if its just taking a while.

IPod Touch (2nd Generation): Erase and Reset all contents before selling
Dear all,
I have an iPod Touch sencnd generation and I am about to ship it out to someone who has bought it online. I want to delete *all* the important info I have on this piece of hardware and reset it to the default settings. I have gone through the following steps so far: settings > general > reset > "erase all settings and contents."
But I wonder if with a sophisticated software someone can still recover my previously stored passwords and private materials on this iPod Touch. How is it possible to completely zero out the hard drive just like you'd do on a computer? How reliable is "erase all settings and contents" by the way?

RonI would be satisfied with what you did. The iPod touches use Flash storage so there is no hard drive. You can tr erasing all contents amd setting a few times since that overwrites existing data. From the Users Guide:
Erase all content and settings: Connect iPod touch to your computer or a power
adapter. Choose General > Reset and tap “Erase All Content and Settings.”
This resets all settings to their defaults and erases all your information and media:
 On iPod touch 3rd generation or later: by removing the encryption key to the data
(which is encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption)
 On iPod touch 2nd generation: by overwriting the data
Important: You can’t use iPod touch while data is being overwritten. This can take
up to four hours or more, depending on the model and storage capacity of your
iPod touch. (On iPod touch 3rd generation or later, the encryption key is removed
immediately.) -
HELP!! Erase and remove all settings...
Hi, Recently I purchased a iPad off craigslist and on receiving my iPad I wanted to erase out all of the data and start from the beginning.. In doing so I consulted the online instructions and my question is how long should this take? It has been 24 hours and the iPad only shows the apply sign. I cannot turn it on or off and if I reset it, it just shows the same apple sign.. If anyone knows what I can do please let me know.. It's a 64g wifi. I'm just worried I killed it.. Not really, but I just wanted to know if anyone could help me.

If you can reset it by holding down the power button until the slider appears to shut down. then you wait a few seconds and restart, you can turn on the passcode and turn on the option to "reset ipad after 10 failed attempts". type in 10 wrong codes and voila', original settings.
I think that would do exactly what your looking for.
On a personal note, I dont know if I would trust a seller for an ipad on craigslist. No warantee, no support and no recourse if something is wrong with it. the most I have bought is a bike for $30.

I need a solution over it. i have check on your cummunity people saying to keep the phone in refrigerator that will solve the WIFI problem. i hope apple are considering on the quwries of the people such a major case need to be sort out soon where all the data and contents are getting deleted from phone on the researt and also upgrading to the new IOS 7.0.2 or IOS 7.0.3 the WIFI buttopn is grayed (disabled). being on the global markets and such issues on upgrading then its better to be with the previos ios atleast it would work fine. even some times when i switch to HDR mode in cammera it crashes. some time it captures photo but when i try to view its total black dont even open on other phones or computers.
i kindly request you to go throuth the all the quesries and do revert on the same ASAP.Apple guys are deleting posts. I have found my posts have been deleted. Apple should MUST let us downgrade at least to previous release from current which was working fine.

Can anyone advise me how long does it normally take to reset while doing- settings-general-erase and reset all settings.It has already taken 4 hours and only the apple logo is being displayed yet. I am little bit worried if the operating system will not be restored.
Use the following steps to place your device into recovery mode. If the device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
Did you do this?
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB cable to iPhone, the device should power on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If none of these works, visit your nearest Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider or wireless carrier.

quickly begin to hold down both home button and sleep/wake for around 7/8 seconds.
as soon as the iphone screen goes black release finger from sleep/wake button but continue to hold home button.
an apple logo should appear on the iphone screen
continue to hold down home button
itunes should now let you know it has detected a phone in recovery mode.
choose to restore iphone.
once completed restore from back up if desired. -

IPad 2 - did an erase and reset and now it will not respond
I did an erase and reset on my iPad 2 and now it will not respond, not even by plugging it in to a computer.
I attempted to do this last night before 10pm and it is after 1pm and is still "cycling". (The little circle in the middle of a black screen that just goes round and round)
I've tried to power off with side and front buttons and I have plugged it into the computer as well. Computer is not recognizing it is even there.
HELP!Powering Off by using the two buttons? Did you reboot it this way?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -

Sorry, there is nothing you can do until the device is removed from the sellers Apple ID.
