i have iphone 4 and i was updating it to ios6, now my iphone dont conect to itunes. I have no system software updates available for my pc, I'm running the latest version of iTunes, have no other USB devices attached, and i have done this b4 with no problm.
now i have the usb-itunes picture on my iphone and my device do not show on itunes application in my pc.

iTunes is telling you that if your iPod is not connected to the computer it is normally synched to, all of your stuff will be gone. If this is the computer you synch your iPod to, then there is nothing to worry about...

This symbol means you need to connect your phone to your computer's iTunes via the USB cable and restore the phone.

You just said it, update failed and the iPhone was put in recovery mode. In terms of why the update failed, would you happen to know the exact error message and code that came up on iTunes because you could check what it means on the link below:

One needs to press the home and sleep / wake keys together for the phone to reset
The other thing I could recommend
Let the battery run out and the phone completely "die"
It may take a day or two with it not being used
Then plug it in to charge and see if there is any change in behavior
If you cannot get this to work - you may need to bring it to an Apple store

Restore the phone as a new device. There is probably something that was corrupted on your phone during the update and has been passed via the backup to the replacement phone. If the corruption/problem is contained in the backup, you'll need to re-sync your data, and re-install your apps manually. Restoring the backup again will only bring the problem back with it.
If restoring it as new does not fix it, then make an appointment at the genius bar.

Try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or .... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
For Safari ..... Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

I have an iphone4s and i am using assistive touch. When i update to ios6 the automatic screen lock doesnt work, but if i disable assistive touch the screen lock works fine. Some one knows about this problem?

Thought you could use this info about getting FireWire to work!
First, you should always Repair Permissions in Disk Utility before and after any update; I would do that now. If you installed your update with FireWire plugged in, your Mac may not recognize it anymore.
Try resetting your FireWire ports by disconnecting all FW devices, shut down your Mac and unplug it from AC power (wall socket) for 30 minutes. plug it back in and try FW.
If that did'nt work, download the combo update from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update, disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse, Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try. Yours is the 10.4.6 Combo update. Others reading, download the Combo that applies to your system. If you have an Intel iMac use this Combo link.
If that still did'nt get it Zap the PRAM. While restarting Mac hold down the following key combo Command-Option-P-R. Keep holding those keys down till you hear the second start-up chime, then release.
For those of you with Macs that are not PowerBooks or iBooks, a bad internal battery can cause FireWire to not be recognized, so make sure it's good!

I am an activist when it comes to rip-offs and I intend to set up a group to pressure the Ausralian government to legislate to make all computer software producers to make all new software compatible with all old software AT NO COST to the user.
I thought about that myself, but when it comes to Windows XP. It is peculiar that software companies get away with "selling" software that suddenly stops working properly. The problem with XP is of course an environmental one as well. There is a huge number of fully functional PCs that suddenly are no longer supported by Microsoft, and that are not powerful enough to take newer supported MS operating systems. What MS basically recommends people is to throw them away with a horrible cost for our environment.

The nice thing about owning this overpriced POS is that Apple not only doesn't support it, but also doesn't want to hear about anything negative regarding it. So I spoke to the so-called "support" people at Apple who successfully screwed up my contacts beyond repair. I got a nice email from Apple asking me to rate the support I got.
