HT201210 recovery mode / restore loop - HELP!

Hi,
My iphone settings advised me of an update this morning, I updated the iphone as prompted.
Now my iphone 4s is stuck in a recovery mode / restore loop and I am unable to go into DFU mode as the power button is not responding...
I have tried about 20 times today to restore my iphone but it stops after a few minutes saying the network timed out... I have tried this on 4 different computers and get the same message each time.
I need my phone for work so its really frustrating.
The 4th computer is not even recognising the iphone as a device.
Any ideas?

Maybe you'd like to tell us what the error was, exactly?

i have done a recovery mode restore and my i phone 3gs still wont activate????? can any 1 help pls

90+% of the phones sold on ebay are hacked or jailbroken.  The symptom you describe is typical of a hacked or jailbroken phone that was updated or restored. It has either been re-locked to the original carrier, or the damage done by the hack is now preventing it from activating at all.
It may or may not be fixable, but you can not get help with it here. There is a good chance it will never be able to activate.
There is a very slim possibility that the activation servers are simply overloaded by all the new iPhones given as Christmas gifts, but my money is on a hacked, now bricked phone.

Your BEST bet is to go to an Apple store and let them recover your phone.

  • HT1689 ran out of space while trying to ask question! ipad synced, new ios update 10 hour installed, itunes apparently stopped working, ipad mini requires connecting to itunes. ipad detectecte recovery mode, RESTORE.  Restore what? Whole bloody thing?

I just synced the iPad Mini. then installed ios7.04. After 10 hour installation found that iTunes was frozen, and ipad required to be connected to itunes!restarted computer, reconnected ipad Mini.  Now "ipad detected in recovery mode, restore" Click on "OK" and the only usable default left is reset factory settings.  Does that mean i have to go through the whole rigmarole again?

Unfortunately yes it does. You might want to temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software and that may speed up the process. However, you have to restore the iPad again, if it is in recovery mode.

  • Recovery mode on loop with iphone 4 on ios 7

Please help. I attempted to update to IOS 7 this morning. It went into the recovery mode after updating. As I didn't want to lose the data on the phone, I read many sites that suggested using TinyUmbrella. I've run TinyUmbrella's EXIT RECOVERY to no avail. It keeps looping back into restore mode  a second after the USB/iTunes window disappears and the Apple logo finally appears. On the left side of the TinyUmberellas window, my iPhone appears as ? a number. After running EXIT RECOVERY, a second number appears and another one for each time I run it.  Also, my sleep/lock button doesn't work and got stuck....but that happened 6 months ago and I've been using it without the sleep/lock button for the last 6 months. I would appreciate any help. Thank you so much.

my phone just started doing this. did you ever fix this?

  • IPhone4 in recovery mode, restore stops half way through with an error message.

Hi, please help if you can. I have an iPhone 4 running the latest IOS which for some reason hung on start up with the Apple logo. It would get out of the loop, so got it into Recovery Mode, connected up for restore fine. This happens fine, then half way through the restore there is an error message, saying the restore cant be completed. I've tried it on three machines, different cables, different USB ports, and am now stuck.
Its unloced but not jail broken.
    Thanks go your help.

  • Recovery mode restore failure

    I need your help
I updated my laptop MacBook Pro from Maverick to Yosemite unfortunately we got stuck when updating. No BACKUP! We are really regretting about this.
    We are on recovery mode.
Did the First Aid, They could not verify and repair the disk that's why they could not update.
When on Restore, I opened the Macintosh HD by Image, I could see my datas are still there.
On recovery mode, tried to restore but they failed as Input/Output error. But my external hard drive is new(Format Mac OS Extended(Journaled) and works on other laptop.
Do you have other ideas how to back up this?
    Your help will be appreciated.

Connect the external HDD to the MBP via USB (or firewire).
Boot the MBP with the Snow Leopard install disk ans select the external HDD for installing the OSX.
After the installation, restart the MBP selecting the external disk.  (startup manager)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1310
Open the internal HDD and copy as much data as you can on the external HDD.
If successful, swap d\rives or install a new HDD in the MBP.
    Ciao.

  • "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode" restore and doesn't work

I'm trying to put my music on my new iPod and keep getting this error message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore the iPod before it canb work with iTunes". I click "restor to factory settings" and then the same error message comes up when it's complete. iTunes does recognize my iPod, it just doesn't seem to realize that I've already done what it's telling me to do. Going around and circles and can't get my music on...:( Help, please?
    Thanks!

  • My 3g phone is in recovery mode can anyone help please

Hi All, I bought a 3g Iphone, connected to my ITunes and now in recovery mode, cant get out of it. Please help
    thank you

    1. Disconnect phone from iTunes, leaving the cable plugged into the USB port ON THE COMPUTER (not an external hub or keyboard port
    2. Press the home button and while pressing, plug the dock end of the cable into the phone, and continure pressing the home button until iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode;
    3. Follow the prompts to restore.
If the above sequence doesn't work, try this:
    1. Start iTunes and plug in phone
    2. Press BOTH home and on/off buttons for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, then continue pressing the home button alone until iTunes detects the phone in Recovery Mode, and follow the prompts to restore.

  • Iphone in recovery mode? PLEASE HELP

Hello everyone. the iOS 8 update came out today and I wanted to download the update through my computer onto my iPhone 5s. i plugged in my phone and it said backing up and all. It then said Validating update and my iPhone went to the white screen with the apple logo and the bar started moving. As my phone was updating, it was almost finished when something came up that said it couldn't be downloaded, because I had an older version of iTunes. The iPhone still plugged in, I downloaded the new version of iTunes. (11.4) Then I unplugged my phone. I plugged it back in and it said that my phone was in recovery mode and it needed to be restored to factory settings before I can do anything. I am so worried that I will lose everything. I didn't click restore yet because I am afraid I will lose all my photos(over 9,000) and everthing else I have on there. If I click restore iPhone, and it goes back to factory settings, i'll have iOS 8 but what about all my content? Will the option to back up everything from when i first plugged it in be there? I'm scared to click restore and not be able to restore from backup. I can't do anything on iTunes but click restore. If i go to file, devices, it wont let me click restore from backup. If I restore back to factory settings to get out of recovery mode, will i be able to back up all my content? PLEASE HELP. I know for a fact it was backed up a few hours ago, it says exactly when. If I hit restore iPhone, and everything goes back to factory settings and I have the new update, will I be able to Restore from backup? PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello Sozanalmohammad12
Restoring your iPhone is your only option to get it back up. You can check for that back up that happened before you originally tried to update.
