HT201210 Restore issues iphone 3G

I followed the advice of this article

and I managed to restore my iphone via iTunes without an error. Once the restore was done the apply logo came on the screen, some progress bars appeared and then nothing, the phone will turn off and then this cycle will repeat.
Please help.

how many times you think?
the first time i had to hold down the home key for almost 20 mins

Reccuring "Restore" Issue iPhone 4

I have an Iphone 4 for Verizon that I have had for over 6 months now. Just recently, my phone is begininng to lose service and just after a certain amount of time, usually a matter of minutes, the message stating "iPhone cannot make or recieve calls. Restore from iTunes" will pop up.
Leaving me with no cell service, wifi or 3g capabilities. And sometimes, more often than not, not allowing me to restore using iTunes. It has happened to me over 5 or 6 times now.
The first time it happened I brought it into Apple and they themselves couldnt restore it at first. After 3 restores they finally got it back to factory settings. Handed it back and said "Have a good day" with no explination.
Now it is happening more often!!!!!!
My phone also is NOT jailbroken and is NEW from the Apple Store.
Anyone have any ideas? troubleshooting advice? ANYTHING!?!?

Sounds like you should make a trip to the Apple store and get a replacement/repair done. If you have had it only 6 months, then you should still be covered under the hardware warranty. Provided this is a hardware issue.

my iphone 4 wont make or recieve calls or texts, it told me to update and restore. i tried and it almost finished and stopped then says an error occured, now it wont do anything it just says to plug into itunes. i dont know what to do, can anyone help?

You could try plugging it into iTunes, like it's telling you to do... It's in recovery mode.

The display of the Iphone 3Gs showed something like "Restore required otherwise neither a phone call can be received nor made"
I pressed the update and restore button in iTunes, however, this comes now up with an error message: "The iPhone could not be restored an unknown error occured"
I have followed the guidance iOS: Resolving update and restore messages without success.
The iphone displays now an USB plug and iTunes symbol, which I believe means that it is in Restore mode.
What is the next step from here?

You'll have to connect your iPhone to iTunes. If you encounter an error during the restore process, please post the exact message and/or number here.

I am trying to restore my iphone 4 ios 6 to acheive unlock. hit restore and it unloads software, confirms with apple then displays the 3194 error. I have turned off my virus scanner, unplugged all usb except for iphone, edited the hosts file and run diagnostics which showes communication with apple is fine. There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
Delete ALL your email accounts.
Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON. Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.

Hi, I also get the message "itunes could not restore the iphone because the password was incorrect" though I am never prompted to enter a password anywhere! Nor was the backup password encrypted to begin with! Really strange, any pointers will be greatly appriciated!

I tried installing ios7 via itunes. It took a back up of the iphone no problem, then installed ios7. When I went to restore the iphone the last back up was not the one done today. When i tried to restore it I got and error message 2003 which is not listed on the useful information list of error messages.
I would realy appreciate it if anyone could throw some light on what has happened and suggest anything that might help

Well, it is indirectly addressed in that list. These suggestions should assist:
Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you're using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.

I had a similar issue with my Daughter's 3GS - I tried restoring it with "Restore Mode" and it would not do it. A quick search led me to MacRumors.com where I found an article on restoring your device via DFU Mode. It takes awhile to do it, but it definitely fixed my issue.

I was restoring my iphone via itune and the restoration was not completed due to incomplete disk space. I cleared the disk space and restarted itune. When I tried to syn it again, I received this error message: this iphone cannot be used because apple mobile service not started. How to resolve this issue?

Make sure you've got atleast 2-3GB space on the hard drive of the computer where your operating system is installed.
Download the latest version of iTunes : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
After installing, try restoring the iPhone once again
This should solve your issue!

Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.

can't restore my iPhone 3gs. Tried 4 different Macs and 1 PC, all issue error response, mostly errror 2001 snd the PC cited error #21. Even tried different USB cable.
It started by not turning on and it still does not unless plugged in. Then once it displayed a colorless grey screen that said "no service" and the battery symbol said 100 %. After resetting the iPhone it now is recognized as an iPhone in recovery mode.

My work issued iphone won't restore the backup. I get an error that my password is wrong. I tried variations of all recent passwords. Checked various threads and saw one that suggesting to use the "Change Password" feature under "Encrypt iPhone Backup" as a faster way to find your password. After a few wrong attempts I then successfully changed my backup password and wrote it down!!
Now when I tried to restore my backup with my shiny new password I get the same error that "iTunes could not restore the iPhone "my iphone" because the password was incorrect" The "Encrypt iPhone backup" option is checked and grayed out. I assume the fact its grayed out means its a policy set by my company. I cannot uncheck the "Encrypt iPhone Backup" option. My company IT helpdesk can't help me as they say they don't set a password or force its encryption. The phone has Mobile Iron 5.7.4 app installed as a corporate requirement.
Any ideas? I am using iOS 6.1.3 and I will not update it to iOS 7 since I cannot restore my backup. Learned this the hard way when it wouldn't restore after the iOS 5 to iOS 6 update. I have an iPhone 4s.

This is a problem. We also set a policy which requires users create a backup password. That way if they salvage their computer, someone that buys it at the Thrift store won't be able to access what might be company data. The problem is that the password is only required one time, when the initial backup is made, and it might be a year or more before you need to use it to do a restore. Here is an article which may help out...at least with some ideas on password ideas...http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5162
If you can't remember it, you can always transfer your content to your computer, music, apps, photo's etc, then setup the device as new and transfer the content back. This won't allow you to get various settings, and points on games, etc, but at least you will have the really really important stuff. If you are connected to an enterprise mail server, that will restore all of your mail, contacts and calendar.
