I have just updated my iphone 5 to IOS 7.1 and unfortunately it stopped working. I can not turn it on. Anyone got the same problem? My phone is already out of warranty so I have no idea how much it would cost to fix my died phone

My sons iPhone 5 did the same thing after updating to iOS 7.1.
You may have to connect the device to a computer running iTunes and do a restore on the device. Restore as new. If you don't have a backup everything will be lost but you may get the device working again.

Iphone randomly stopped working when i got up?

lock button won't work, phone will not turn off only go into a 'seizure' of black screen with apple logo. restored iphone 3g. and synced everything back onto it fine. also it's fully charged/can still text/call when plugged in. as well when i plug it in it shows the power off slide. and when i check for updates it tells me i have non and i'm up to date.

I have to hold down both buttons for awhile until the Apple appears and then everything seems fine... until it happens again. Once it happened overnight, so I missed my alarms. Another time, it was while I was at dinner.
Always it happens when the iPhone is on standby with the screen off and nothing particular happening with it. The iPhone 4S is brand new, hasn't been dropped, hasn't been messed with in any way.
Is there a way I can get a trace of what happened before I reset it? The system log (visible in "System Status" and other apps) starts with the reset, so it doesn't help here.

AV button stopped working when updates to windows 7 loaded

I have two HP touchsmart 600s. I use one to toggle to HTMI and then watch ATT uverse. When we downloaded the most recent window 7 fixes, the AV button on my remote stopped working. Is there a fix for this? I can no longer watch tv on my second TouchSmart.

Which Touchsmart model do you have. There are many that fall in the 600 series.
You have two options. You can uninstall / reinstall the drivers that are for the remote to see if that helps or we may have to roll back your system to before you did the updates to try to identify which update is causing the problem with the remotes.

I tried upgrading my i-phone 4 to the new oerating system iOS5 and now it stopped working. it says connect to i-tunes and when I tried doing it my pc does not detect I-phone. can anyone help?

well I only have a 3gs so I'm not all up on the current but the way I see it you have a few option's depending on the route you want to take,
If you don't mind loosing what's on the phone (if you want to try save info try 2 before 1)
1. (Best Chance) put the iphone into DFU mode, (1. turn off iphone while plugged into computer, then hold the sleep button count to three 2. then hold the home button whiile still holding the sleep button, count to 10 3. release the sleep button but keep home button,) then itune should detect the phone and offer to restore it, this should restore it
1b. I would repeat above with a active SIM card, doesn't make a difference where I live but you never know
I'd suggest this if your having problems connecting
1c. I would try On difference Computer (rule out bad download, currupt driver's etc etc)
If you want to try save the information then I would say you are doing some of this at your own risk as I'm not sure about apple rules regarding these, the steps should all be legal but might void your warrently so be warned!
2. Download a utility call Tinyumbrella ( http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/ ) and have you phone connected and run the program, on the left should be a list of connected devices (make sure itunes is closed) click on the device connected and on the right click exit recovery, hopefully your device will reboot normally, (there's also an fix recovery option but I've never used that)
2b this option is to jailbreak your phone as that "hacktivates" your phone if using this option and it works I suggest a FULL backup then follow option 1 above, download a program call Redsn0w ( http://blog.iphone-dev.org/tagged/redsn0w ) and follow the instructions that come with it, again if this works I suggest a full backup then follow option 1 about even if you do wish to stay "jailbroken"
this advice is just some idea's as you have given no information on what happen or firmware involved current mood of phone ^^ I can only hazard a guess at the problem< if after these steps is doesn't work i suggest trying to bring it back and get someone professional to look at it

HT1937 I tried to update to the newest version for my iphone and for some reason I am getting a restore the iphone on my phone and computer. Why is this happening, I dont want to loose all my info and have to put it back in.

Help Please!! my computer won't finish my update for my iphone and it says it needs to restore my iphone. I don't know why it is doing this? If I restore the phone with itunes it will wipe out all my media and contacts and I don't want to do that. But I can't use my phone it just shows a pic of a usb port plug in to a itunes note. Can anyone answer how I can get the iphone back to normal because I can't even use it.

Monday I ended up on the phone with Apple Support just to be sure I was doing the right thing and to check my back up info so I could be sure I didn't loose important data. They were very nice and helped me finish the process. When I told the tech that I couldn't download the new update and install from my iphone that is when I went to the computer and that's when I got this recovery mode thing on my phone. He told me there must have been a problem and that is why he thinks I couldn't down load it from the phone. I had to go to ITunes on my computer. Once we did the recovery we were able to check that I had a back up from the day before, so I didn't loose anything. He stayed with me til the process finished. I also found out I can prevent the auto sync for the future by setting the directions on that.
I am good now and my phone is operating fine, with the new update. Thank you all who commented back to me.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

IPhone 3GS stopped working after update

When I updated my iPhone to the latest version today everything went OK when downloading, but suddenly it told me that the disc (C:\ om my PC) was full. When I cleared some space it continued, but didn't find the software afterwards. In fact my iPhone froze with the image of the white plug and the blue iTunes music-logo afterwards.
I've tried resetting my PC and reinstalling iTunes. I've also held the on-buttons on top an at the bottom in 'till the white Apple appears, but my phone won't go any further. Neither do I have the option to reset anything from within iTunes, as it doesn't recognise my phone.
Now I'm wondering: Is there a remedy?

See if you can get it into recovery mode using RecBoot so Itunes will recognize it. Then try a manual install.
