HT201229 When I  block a caller what message do they receive ?

Just wondering what the other parties see or are sent when they are blocked ?

Understand that the iOS 7 "Block" does not truly block the call, it is more like a selective "Do Not Disturb".  Calls and text from the "blocked" individual are still sent to your phone, but the iPhone does not send an audio or visual notification to the user.  The caller will still go to your voicemail box (if it is set up).  To truly block calls and texts, you have to contact your cellular carrier.  There is usually a fee from the carrier to block a caller, but the person will receive a verbal notification from the carrier that they cannot complete the call.

If I change my number and forget to give to some people.  What message will they receive when they text my old number?   Thank you!

more than likely they will never know the text did not go through. If the number was assigned to someone else they will get your text message. I did this last week and the person texted me back asking who I was. I responded and apologized and they said no problem.

Flip the ring/silent switch on the left side of the phone from silent (red showing) to ring position.

  • When I block my caller Id what does the other person see.

My question is when I block my number/caller id on my iphone what does the reciever of the call see? Restricted/blocked or could it possibly be a bunch of numbers?? Like 13 digits. would it depend on the phone the other person has like if it is an old flip phone?
(when scrolling down I dont know the operating system) so ignore my answer to that if it even shows??

Depends on the carrier you use and the recipient's device. More than likely Blocked.

  • My sister's iphone volume will not go up or down and her ringtones do not ring when she gets a call what should she do?

My sisters Iphone volume buttons do not work and the phone does not ring when she gets a call yet when she is in settings. What should she do?

    Hi,
If it's Not the Silent Switch...  Try a Reset of the Phone...
    Turn the Phone Off...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
    Usually takes about 10 - 15 Seconds...
    Turn the Phone On...

  • HT201229 How to block" No Caller ID " call from my iPhone

Have a phone call often from No Caller ID , is there a way to block this caller?

you can block all numbers not in your contact list by doing this:
    go to settings
    open "Do Not Disturb"
    slide on "Manual"
    tap on "Allow Calls From"
    Select "All Contacts"
All calls from numbers not on your contacts list will now be blocked. You can however still see all numbers that attempted to call you as missed calls. Verify the numbers and if legit, add them to your contacts list to receive any future calls from them.

  • HT201229 If I block a number , what does the caller, or text messager get as a response on their end?

If I block a number . What response does that party get if they call or text my number?

The call/message simply won't go through. If iMessage, it will show as delivered, but it actually won't be delivered.
Here's what it sounds like on their end, for calls:

  • Is there a way to block unsolicited calls and messages in iPhone5?

Hello to all. Guess my title to this post is enough for me to get an answer from learned members of this august forum! Thanks inadvance!

Thanks Rojmer for joining this thread. Your answer seems to be an attractive solution to the problem I am facing but I am a novice in these matters and would love some clarifications:

Every time I get one of these calls I immediately add the number to one of the contacts in my contacts app under the name Telemarketing 1, Telemarketing 2, etc.  I have about eight numbers in each contact item.
I was just about to ask you how you could squeeze in 8 numbers in each contact, but proceeded to check it out myself and learnt that you can put in more than even 10 numbers under each contact! I guess that I can put in many more numbers too!
My next question is related to how you could create a silent ringtone?
[Then I created a silent ringtone with one of the ringtone creators in the AppStore (iTunes also sell them) and assigned the silent ringtone to those contacts items. ]
Could you walk me through this process? FYI, I have found this free app and have downloaded it onto my iMac:
How can I create a 'silent' audio file to drop it into the required space provided?

  • HT4534 I installed facetime on my computer in May 2011. It worked great at first, but now the volume goes out when I am on calls. What can I do to stop this from happening? Its not my speakers,I have used Skype and Google+ and the volume never goes out.

The volume on my facetime goes out very frequently. I can hear the person just fine, but they can not hear me. I have checked my app store to see if there have been any updates to the version of facetime that I bought in May 2011 and it's not. Is there anything that I can do to fix this problem?
By the way it is not my speakers. I have used Google+ and Skype, and they both work just fine and the volume does not go out.

Thanks, it seems that it doesn't like to play games, which is a bit of a bummer as i bought this specifically because it was capable of doing that.  To be fair, it is capable... I just need to get used to a sound like sitting by a washing machine on spin cycle...  Wish they would make people aware of this in the Apple Store, its very misleading and not at all desireable.

  • Since last upgrade my phone won't ring when I get a call or text message

Anyway to get phone to ring when I get a call or message. Since the last upgrade it will only ring occasionally

    Hi BrendaQ,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone does not ring when you receive calls or messages, start with these steps:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

  • When I make a call I can hear the person I call but they cant hear me. But when I put my phone onto loud speaker they can hear me then ?

Hi I have recently had a problem with my Iphone 5. When I make a call to someone I can hear them fine but they cant hear me unless I turn it to loud speaker then they can hear me, I can still talk to siri and on face time but not for a normal call. What would be making this happen ???

    Hi Kel134,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are having microphone issues on your iPhone when you place a call to someone and they cannot hear you unless you activate the speaker function. In this situation I would recommend the steps in the following article to help isolate and resolve the situation.
    iPhone: Microphone issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5183
    Resolve the issue
Follow these steps, testing after each.
Make sure nothing is plugged in to the jack connector.
Make sure nothing is blocking any of the microphones (refer to the pictures below to find your device's microphones). Check for these:
    Dirt or debris
    A screen protector or case
When you're holding your phone next to your ear, make sure you don't block the microphone with your fingers or shoulder and make sure to speak into the microphone
Turn the iPhone off and then on.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
If necessary, find general iPhone hardware troubleshooting suggestions.
For further assistance, contact Apple Support.
    I hope this helps,
    -Joe
