cant update my macbook pro i have forgot my administration password

First off, you need to post in the correct forum.   10.9.2 is not the same as Mac OS 9.2. (12 years separate those two).
I'll ask this thread be moved.
Secondly, look at your Apple menu -> About This Mac and tell us what you have now.
If it is some version of  10.8, you can upgrade to 10.9, and then 10.9.2 free:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6131
If it is some version of 10.7, check the system requirements for 10.8 first, to determine if you can go straight to 10.9, then 10.9.2:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3761
If it is some version of 10.6 or lower, read this tip:

  • How do I update my macbook pro to have pages, keynote and numbers

how do I update my macbook pro to have pages, keynote and numbers?

Normally you have to get these from the App store.  Open the App Store application in your Applications folder. Have a look at the category Apple Apps.
    There is also this:
Apple - Up-to-Date Program for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote

  • How do I login to my macbook pro if I forgot my password?

How do I login to my macbook pro if I forgot my password?

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password. In OS X 10.10 and later, this option also works with FileVault, but only if you enabled it when you activated FileVault. It's not retroactive.
Otherwise*, start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities window appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar at the top of the screen—not from any of the items in the OS X Utilities window.
In the window that opens, type this:
    resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected. You won't be able to do this if FileVault is active.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but the Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as the login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • Cant Update Apps Macbook Pro

I recently purchased a brand new Macbook pro and I am having some trouble with the Macbook Appstore. I changed my Apple ID today and when I go to update any apps my computer is bringing up my old Apple ID.  There is no option to change the Apple ID or sign out on the updates tab of the app store.  I have tried logging out and back in using my new Apple ID on the Featured Quick links tab but it does not work.  Can anyone assist?

How can I delete and reinstall these applications that were downloaded without messing up my computer?

  • I cant get my macbook pro to have a full screen in safari please help?

I have tried getting my full screen back and its not working please help?????

First off, iOS 7 does not run on Macs.
Secondly, Mac Pros are desktops, and MacBook Pros are notebooks.  Something is not jibing with your signature and what you say you are running.  Please go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to tell us your Mac OS X version.
Go to Safari menu -> About Safari, or Help menu-> About Safari to tell us your Safari version.
That will tell us if fullscreen is an option.

Not sure what exactly you did (or not), but it looks as if you should attempt doing it all again, only this time all right and by the book. Many millions have done so, and sure it'll work for you as well.
If you've indeed purchased ML already, you'll find it exactly there in the App Store: under Purchases.

Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Problems after efi 2.5 update on macbook pro 13 inch(mid 2010)

i don't know if it's related but after i updated my macbook pro 13 inch mid 2010 efi firmware to 2.5 i'm having usb problems.
the problem started after i went to software updates and downloaded efi firmware 2.5, but i didn't restarted right away actually i downloaded the efi firmware around 3pm and shut down my computer around 1am, and in the morning when i turned on my mac it made a strange noise and then restarted. then when it restarted my usb external hd wasn't working well, it takes around 10 minutes for me to be able to watch a video directly from it, and my 3g usb connects but the speed is really slow, so i cant use it. i don't know if efi firmware update is related to usb, but somehow it made my usb ports stoped working properly.
so is there a fix for this?

What you should do is time consuming but really helps (it helped for me)
Go to your disk utility setup and select your harddisk drive, then click on verify disk permissions and after that repair disk permissions, don't ask me why it runs in this order but it seems to elliminate the cause. you will most probably see some repairs being listed.
the next step is to "repair disk" procedure, allthough it could be possible that it can not and then it will tell you to use your setup disk that came with the computer, insert disk hold command and "R" at same time and you come into the menu to repair or re istal software etc.
I ran the repair mode, then re installed my operating software and it seem to resolve this issue but also the long start up problems.
    good luck

  • I updated to MacBook pro last night and now safari won't open

I updated my MacBook Pro last night and since I did this I can not open Safari.  It crashes and sends a report to Apple.  Not tech smart enouh to figure it out can anyone give me simple suggestions?

    ted39 wrote:

Please elaborate on what exactly you mean by it "won't open".
Do you try to launch it and get an error message from the Finder (for example, something like "This application is damaged and cannot be launched....")? Does an icon for the application ever appear in the Dock when you try to launch it? Does it start to launch and then immediately crashes (Finder will display an "unexpectedly quit" dialog)? Or does it start to launch and never seems to "finish" launching (in other words, it basically hangs and is unresponsive)?
If the application crashes, please post the contents of the crash log here.
Otherwise, if the application seems to be hanging, can you, before attempting to launch it, open the Console.app application (it's in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder), and see if anything is reported when you attempt to launch it? If so, please post it here.

  • I got an iphone 4. I had to update my macbook pro to Lepard just to sync. I updated to lepard. Now when I try to sync itunes does not recognize my new iphone 4 as mine and wants to erase everything I have bought using the phone.

I upgraded from Iphone 3g to iphone 4. I had to update my macbook pro to Lepard just to sync. the **** thing with the new iphone 4. I bought and updated to lepard. Now when I try to sync itunes does not recognize my new iphone 4 as mine and wants to erase everything I have bought using the phone before it will sync! It says everything on the phone now will be cleared in order to sync it with my existing info on the computer from my previous iphone. How can I just get everything from my current iphone 4 into itunes, basically add it to the info from my previous iphone 3g that is currently in my itunes?  I dont want to lose what I have on my phone currently....I paid money for half the apps for crying out loud.
I was so frustrated by this when I first bought the phone that I just pushed it out of my mind and NEVER synced it. Please help...

Nope - you cannot restore a backup from a newer iOS version on to a device running an older iOS version.  The reverse works, but in your case to use your backup, you must update to iOS 7.0.3 - no other option if you want to use that backup.

  • HT1338 I updated my MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion and now it is starting slow and opening with some of the programs. How can I fix the problem?

I updated my MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion and now it is slow in starting up and loads a number of probrams. How can I fix the problem?

Have you tried starting in Safe Mode and see if the slowness still occurs?
    Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items (-), you can always add them back with the (+). Also look in /Library/Startup Items. Nothing is put in that folder by default, so anything in there is yours.
    Reboot normally and test.

  • When I updated my macbook Pro to Maverick, I lost I Photo. How do I get it back to manage my pics?

When I updated my Macbook Pro to Maverick, I lost I Photo. It seems as if my pics are still on the laptop, but I have a really hard time finding them. I no longer have I Photo. Can anyone help me in getting that application back and putting my pics back in it? I loved the faces feature. Thank you!

    Run the >software update>iPhoto
If you have a legit copy of of iPhoto you are eligable for the Mavericks compatible version. Look for it in your applications folder along side the older versions.
If not purchase it on the AppStore to regain access to your iphoto library as you knew it.

  • I've updated my Macbook Pro and my iMac with Maverick, updating the various apps. On my Macbook, everything functions perfectly. On my iMac, I get the Your System has Run out of Application Memory, and it's based our Mail, the only app not updated. Ideas?

    Maverick and Your System message
I've updated my Macbook Pro and my iMac with Maverick, updating the various apps (Pages, Aperture, iPhoto, Numbers & iMovie, too) in the process.
On my Macbook, everything functions perfectly. On my iMac, I get the Your System has Run out of Application Memory message. But it's not Calendar, it's Mail that not only won't open, but when it does now, it takes the entire system out with it.
I open Safari, and it works. I open Firefox, and it works and Safari still works. I open Calendar and it works, Safari and Firefox continue to work. I open Reminders, and everything still works.
I open Aperture, and it opens Finder instead, showing the 3.5 update that was installed two days ago (and Aperture has functioned), but doesn't seem to update the app; after about 20 seconds the update disappears and I can now open Aperture and it shows I'm now opening the updated Aperture, which it didn't show before.
I click on Mail, and the cursor spins for ten minutes. The mail window finally opens, but the cursor spins and does not connect to upload new mail, and I finally Force Quit Mail. Since the Maverick update, even though Mail was not updated (and maybe because Mail was not updated), I have been able to receive emails twice, and then the program crashed.
Besides the Aperture app, Pages didn't fully update on the iMac, and I had to remove the old Pages icon from the dock after the new program loaded up from Applications.
    Any ideas?
