My time machine keeps shutting down.

Shutting off is a problem..
Certainly check the cord.. pull it out of the TC and inspect the pins in the TC and the contacts inside the cord end.. unplug it for safety .. you are looking for burn marks where the contact hasn't been good. If all is good I really doubt cords are a major issue.. Apple supply good quality ones and other than a pet chewing on it or the cord being bent and handled a lot, which is unlikely with a TC.. it should be fine.
The A1409 is gen 4 and you have an early model which is great.
You need to use the v5 utility so you can see the logs. I am not sure what OS you run, but if you are on Lion download the utility.

If you are on ML tell us and I can give instructions to install it.. it will not install simply due to the out of date installer.. not incompatibility.
Once you can access the logs you can see a bit more detail of what is happening and track it .. if it keeps dying see if it has popped up temperature warnings or any kind of indication of trouble.
Apple used a WD green drive in them.. certainly I have seen more dead drives lately than on any of the early models. I don't know how apple has the cheek to call the cheapest green drive on a market server grade.. but they do. A dead or dying drive can have all kinds of effects.

I bought the Time Capsule over a year ago and it's been working very well. Recently it has started to power off for no apparent reason. Many support forums say that there is a fault with TC and it overheats and shuts down. Also have read that TCs only last 12-18 months.

I, too, have the Droid 4 and have experienced the random shut downs, tho not as frequently as you seem to be experiencing it. You said you did a factory reset - another option to try (that seems to help mine) is a system cache clear...
Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
Press volume up/down simultaneously to go into system recovery
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select
It also may be a rogue app or a conflict with an app. Have you recently installed a new app? If so, try removing it ans see if that improves things.
How long have you had the phone? Is it still within the one year manufacturer's warranty?

When Time Machine was turned on, the destination was set to an external drive. I was completely confused about what was happening until I used Houdini to reveal the hidden volume. Boot in safe mode. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:

That it is still working is miraclous.. most have died.. lots started flaking out at 18months to 2years..

I have a ipod nano shuffle, 6th gen. I bought it when I had Windows Vista. I upgraded to Windows Ultimate 7. Now it keeps shutting off. Have to press power button and touch arrow to restart. 3 to 4 times a song. I ran diagnostics. Passed until end.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

No, push the headphones firmly all the way in. The headphone jack on new nanos is very tight, make sure the plastic on the headset jack is flush with the body of the nano.

Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

I'm not sure about that. But what you could try is to set the Update Preference to "Manual" and try updating at a time when the Network may not be as busy, like late at night or early in the morning.

Evetually yes.
If your pictures have been in the same location (same folder, same subfolder, ...) for more than a week, then copies if them will remain in your TM backups until it fills up. They are then vulnerable to being deleted.
If they've been there for less than a week, TM could delete them as early as a month from now. If they've been there for only a few hours, chances are TM will delete them tomorrow.
This is why TM is not the best tool to use to archive data that you will be deleting from your main hard drive. Copy them to a dedicated external drive, or burn DVDs.

Macbook Pro seems to be bricked by ML install. Upon restart it shows a progress bar which makes it to about 15%, and then the machine simply shuts off. Help?

Title pretty much says it all. Install seemed to be going fine, then upon restart it hit a gray screen with a progress bar for about 30 seconds. Once the progress bar makes it to about 15% the machine simply shut off. I tried turning the machine on again a few times, but each time I had the same issue. I then tried running the 10.8 recovery disk, but it just showed the gray spinning wheel for about 6 hours. Any ideas?

Something similar issue with me too. Intallation went fine. Then it started updating java once reboot it got stuck on grey screen. It wont boot at all. That spinning wheel keeps on going forever. :(

This is something you should log. Whenever your machine shuts off randomly, make a note of the time and what you were doing on your machine at the time. You may find that the shut downs aren't random at all. I had a similar problem with "random" shutdowns, and discovered that there was a power supply issue.

Experience shows the network drops off after several hours. But yesterday I turned the iMac off, and the network remainded up (I could see it on my iPhone and iPad) throughout the night. That's the first time that has happened since I got the new iMac. Never had this issue with the old machine. I transferred all file to the new machine from a Time Machine backup that was up-to-date. Am working with Apple support. They had me do a re-boot of the AirPort and will call back tomorrow AM to learn it did not solve the problem, but turning off the iMac does. Darn.
