  • Where are the stickies stored in time machine?

    I had to reinstall my MacBook Pro but becaue the problem seemed to be software failure I could not use the Time Machine Back up to do the reinstallation. I have found everything now apart from the Stickies - are they not backed up by Time Machine? If there are then where are they!!

    Open the Library folder in your home folder by holding down the option key and selecting
    Go ▹ Library
    from the Finder menu bar. Enter Time Machine, select a snapshot, and restore the file named "StickiesDatabase".

  • HT201250 Where are the Time Machine step by step instructions?

    I'm looking for the screen shots of how to even start setting up the time machine. I see the instructions for once you get there, but it doesn't do me any good if it can't show me how to start. This should be easy to pull up. This is a Mac. This should be fairly straightforward. Right? So, why no instuctions on how to start Time Machine, its options, settings, and all that?

    System Preferences. Time Machine.
    System Preferences is something you should know about if you do not. You can access it from the Apple Menu, and it is a default item in the Dock.
    I have no idea where there are screen shots.
    There's one slider and two buttons. Not really a lot to look at, or be confused by.
    The slider says ON and OFF.
    One button says "Select Disk"
    The other says "Options..."
    If you wish to select a disk, choose "Options..."
    Just kidding.
    There are no "magical options."
    For Step by step instructions:
    To turn on Time Machine:
    1. Slide switch to On.
    To turn off Time Machine:
    1. Slide switch to Off
    To select a disk to use:
    1. Click Select Disk.
    2. Select a Disk.
    To Remove a Disk:
    1. Click Select Disk.
    2. Select Disk.
    3. Click Remove Disk.
    To exclude Items:
    1. Click Options...
    2. Click Add (  + ) button.
    3. Select folder to exclude.
    4. Click Save.
    To remove items from exclusion:
    1. Click Options...
    2. Select item
    3. Click Remove ( - ) button.
    4. Click Save.

    Hi,
    Perhaps, you can try to change the current workspace or to restore the default preferences of InDesign (Shift+Alt+Ctrl+Del at the startup of the application, on Windows).

  • What are the proper xattr in Time Machine folder hierarchy?

    Hi there,
    this is a highly technical question as I am trying to reconnect a corrupt Time Machine volume to its original Macs, one of them running SL, the other Yosemite.
    I tried what Pondini advises on his website, including a migration of the network preferences. When first plugging the TM volume, I get this in the Console:
    16/01/15 02:32:12    com.apple.backupd[38751]    Starting standard backup
    16/01/15 02:32:12    com.apple.backupd[38751]    Backing up to: /Volumes/TW2/Backups.backupdb
    16/01/15 02:32:13    com.apple.backupd[38751]    Detected system migration from: /Volumes/Time Machine/Backups.backupdb/snowy/2014-09-16-141637/Macintosh HD
    16/01/15 02:33:19    com.apple.backupd[38751]    Backup content size: 646.7 GB excluded items size: 444.5 GB for volume Macintosh HD
    16/01/15 02:33:19    com.apple.backupd[38751]    Starting pre-backup thinning: 242.65 GB requested (including padding), 69.61 GB available
    16/01/15 02:33:19    com.apple.backupd[38751]    No expired backups exist - deleting oldest backups to make room
    16/01/15 02:33:19    com.apple.backupd[38751]    Error: backup disk is full - all 0 possible backups were removed, but space is still needed.
    16/01/15 02:33:19    com.apple.backupd[38751]    Backup Failed: unable to free 242.65 GB needed space
    16/01/15 02:33:24    com.apple.backupd[38751]    Backup failed with error: Not enough available disk space on the target volume.
    I don't understand how it can detect a migration but still can't delete older backups on this drive to make room.
    MAC address
    So I followed a rather old link on MacOSX Hints to reset the MAC address on the drive, and now I have:

    The MAC address in 3c belongs to the Snow Leopard Machine, the 00 one to the Yosemite machine. I know it sounds weird, but it is unclear how TM recognizes its backup drive. I first disabled ACL with fsaclctl (taken from a Leopard install DVD), and it worked, as said by:
    sudo /Volumes/TW2/fsaclctl -p /Volumes/TW2
    Access control lists are not supported or currently disabled on /Volumes/TW2.
    Made sure the hidden file with the MAC address was correct, then re-enabled the ACLs.
    ACLs and Xattr
    Since the internal HDD had to be replaced, I wrote the com.apple.backupd.SnapshotVolumeUUID with the new HDD UUID in directory "Backups.backupdb/snowy/Latest":
    Latest cubytus$ sudo xattr -w com.apple.backupd.SnapshotVolumeUUID 361B184E-E1FF-3860-95E2-XXXXXXXXXXAE "Macintosh HD"
    Then went up two levels and checked the xattr:
    Backups.backupdb cubytus$ ls -al@

    Each computer has the correct addresses and HostUUID, i.e. the current ones.
    Yet neither of those give the "Reuse existing backups" shown on Pondini's website, and tmutil on Yosemite doesn't succeed in reconnecting to the backups.
    What is the point I am missing?

    Hey 2cpd2,
    I see that you need help with restoring your computer from a Time Machine backup. Here is an article for you that should be able to address this question for you:
    OS X Mavericks: Restore items backed up with Time Machine

    You can also find more information about using Time Machine here:

  • Where are the labour and setup time cost maintained ?

    Dearest all,
    Does anybody know which transaction screen that labour cost is maintained ? and setup time cost ?
    thank you,
    me

    Hi,
    If you are talking about labour cost and setup time cost in c/w product costing, please refer to the following points:
    1. Create activity types for labour and setup.
    2. Plan the activity prices for cost centeres using KP26.
    3. Specify these activity types in the costing tab of work center using tcode CR01 or CR02 (If work center is already created).
    4. Specify consumption units of activity types in 'Routing' using tcode CA01.
    5. Specify the strategy sequence for activity type valuation in the valuation variant under a costing variant using tcode OKKN.
    6. Complete the cost component structure to ensure the required cost elements are mapped.
    7. While costing the product, system will pick up the unit prices from KP26 screen and the number of units from Routing to calculate the activity costs.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

  • Where did the startup disk for Time Machine go?????

    The icon is not under devices or on desktop. When I clicked the circle with exclamation mark in the center on menu bar it indicated TM is turned on. I get the message that startup disk cannot be found. If you can help, please explain in a way that someone (me) who is not a "techie" can understand.
    Thanks,

    I appreciate your help. After doing that still nothing happened so I changed the power source and now it is working again. I added a big surge protector power strip, before I must have had too many things plugged to the in-wall adapter.

  • HT201250 (1) Where is the "Time Machine menu" and the choice to "Enter Time Machine" (mentioned in the "Restoring data from Time Machine backups" section)?

    1) Where do I find the "Time Machine menu" and the choice to "Enter Time Machine" (as mentioned in the "Restoring data from Time Machine backups" section in the Mac Support article "Mac Basics: Time Machine")?
    2) How would I restore e.g. a particular photo from a backup I made with Time Machine? I can see how this is done with Word documents, but can't see how to do it with photos?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    1. The Time Machine icon is on the menu bar.
    2. If you want to do that with individual photos, it's the same way as for documents. If you want to do it with iPhoto, you have to restore the whole iPhoto library, not only one photo

  • Bug report: Photoshop can't record an action where you insert the menu item "Tile all horizontally".

    I am running CS6 beta on Mac OS 10.7.3
    Photoshop can't record an action where you insert the menu item "Tile all horizontally".
    Expected behavior: add the tile all horizontally action to your actions.
    Behavior: nothing happens.
    This does work for Tile all vertically.

  • Where are the users startup items physically located?

    Hi all
    I messed around with my login items as I had a startup problem (very slow startup). I 've deleted the Microsoft AU Deamon, now I want to reinstall it from a backup - but where is the thing???
    Where are the users login items physically located?
    Thanks

    Where are the users login items physically located?
    The physical login item process could be located any where. Your ~/Library/Preferences/loginwindow.plist initiates login applications or processes.

    - The iTunes backup that iTunes makes included photos in the camera roll. If yo go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices what is the date of the backup? Is it when the photos were on the iPod? You have to restore from that backup.
    - What may have happened is that you backup the iPod after you restored the iPod but before restoring from backup. iTunes only keeps one backup and overwrites the previous backup with the changes.

  • Repainting problems of the Menu items in Oracle Help Navigator

    All,
    I am facing a strange problem when using Oracle Help for my application which is developed in Java,Swings.
    Whenever, I open Help for any component through my application, the menu items in the Help screen are not visible. They are not getting repainted. Only when user drags the mouse over the items, they are getting repainted and visible to the user. This has been raised as a bug by our testing people. I couldn't get any help in aspects of any errors/exceptions being logged when the action takes place.
    Where can I have the log files for Help window?
    Can anyone help me and guide me to the right solution in this regards.
    My environ is like this:
    Windows NT, JRE1.4, Oracle Help - ohj-jewt-4_1_16.jar,
    Thanks in advance for all.

    iweb2 navbar is rendered by javascript widget, therefore you can change navbar font style with javascript; this is an efficient way to change navbar font style.
    Copy and paste the following into your pages using HTML Snippet:
    <script type = 'text/javascript'>
    function changeNavbar() {
    navCSS = parent.document.getElementById('widget0-navbar');
    navCSS.style.fontSize = '0.75em'; // font size, change to less than 1em to change font smaller;
    navCSSbg = parent.document.getElementById('widget0-bg');
    navCSSbg.style.textAlign = 'center'; // navbar list alignment;
    clearInterval(chkNavbar);
    chkNavbar = setInterval('changeNavbar()', 500);
    note: You won't see the changes in iweb, but you will see the change when view the pages online - after publishing.
