It sounds like iTunes seems to have lost track of all your music and you must locate each file individually. I would recommend at this point that you check for 3rd party plugins to see if there are any causing an issue:

Thanks for the question. The following article outlines issues with free space, capacity, and a large amount of "other" space. While it refers to iOS devices, most steps are applicable for your situation as well:

One symptom of this issue will be displayed in iTunes where the Capacity indicator for the iOS device will report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the device. To resolve this issue:
- Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
- Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
- Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
- Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.

Connect the iPod to your syncing computer and restore it via iTunes. However, if iTunes asks for the unknown passcode you need to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore the iPod from backup. For recovey mode see:

This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). Configure the music to sync back over to your device from under its Music configuration tab. If your library is smaller than the capacity available on your Nano, you can set it to sync your entire music library by enabling the Sync Entire Library option from under this tab. Otherwies, you'll have to select only certain artists, albums, playlists, and genres.

Can not call a static function with-in a instance of the object.

Another FYI.
I wanted to keep all of the "option" input parameters values for a new object that
i am creating in one place. I thought that the easiest way would be to use a
static function that returns a value; one function for each option value.
I was looking for a way to define "constants" that are not stored in
the persistent data of the object, but could be reference each time
the object is used.
After creating the static functions in both the "type" and "body" components,
I created the method that acutally receives the option input values.
In this method I used a "case" statement. I tested the input parameter
value, which should be one of the option values.
I used a set of "WHEN conditions" that called the same
static functions to get the exact same values that the user should
pass in.
When I try to store this new version, I get the error:
"PLS-00587: a static method cannot be invoked on an instance value"
It points to the first "when statifc_function()" of the case function.
This seems weird!
If I can call the static method from the "type object" without creating
and instance of an object, then why can't I call it within the body
of a method of an instance of the object type?
This doesn't seem appropriate,
unless this implementation of objects is trying to avoid some type
of "recursion"?
If there is some other reason, I can not think of it.
Any ideas?

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
3. Do you use MobileMe/ iCloud or another server based sync solution like Google or Yahoo?
4. Do other changes to synced information like Address Book content sync successfully back and forth?
Based on your description it sounds like you have a 1 way sync issue. Events sync fine between the iOS devices and fine from the computer to the iOS devices but not from the iOS devices to the computer.
Try:
Backup your computer and iOS devices before doing anything else:

Make separate backups of critical data:

Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
I can't download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
