my macbook is behaving strange, I want to erase all HD and re-instal the new OS X Mavericks

Erasing is rarely necessary. It will make it obvious if you have hardware issues. Backing up at least to two different locations is essential before you attempt an erase. And frequently before attempting any analysis anyway as hardware issues with the hard drive can start as bad behavior and just get worse. So without knowing what's wrong, you might just be putting your head in the sand, and hoping for the best. So make sure you have at least two separate backups.

hello,
I create one project. there, I create one textfield and button. after clicking it, the input add into JList.
when I click the list component and enter OK button ,it will go to another window.
When the input is fault, it show error in dialog box. then, when i click the OK button, it must go to main window and processed from first.
My problem is,
When I click OK in show dialog box, it is not going to main frame.

Wow that's a mess.
Normally when you want to go back to your main window, the only thing you have to do is hide your second window. Then the focus automatically returns to your main window.
Hiding a frame is calling setVisible(false) on it.
If you keep a reference somewhere to your hidden frame, you can easily show it up again without rebuilding it.
But post some other code.
What is "MainFrame"?
Is it a class with static methods for accessing MainFrame.emsMainFrame?
Note that objects/instances/variables/references should start with a lowercase letter, and classes should start with an uppercase letter.
Why do you call initcomp()? If it is a function for initialising the GUI components, then make it run once at the start of your program.

Hi everyone,
After having installed Windows 7 in dual boot with Bootcamp on my Macbook pro, I created a new FAT32 partition (using Windows 7 disk manager tool), so that I could put my common files for Mavericks and Win 7 on it. But my SSD Disk changed from "basic" to "dynamic", and then I was unable to boot from it.
That meant I couldn't boot from Mavericks, or Win 7 or Mac OS X Recovery disk partitions anymore. I was in difficulty, so I formatted my disk and installed Fedora.
Now, I'm running Fedora and :
     - Mac OS Recovery doesn't exist anymore on my disk
     - Netboot (Key 'N' on boot) doesn't work (the globe blinks during one minute and then Fedora boots...)
     - A friend gave me a USB key with Mac OS Recovery bootable on it but my Macbook doesn't allow me to boot from it (cross in the middle of the screen when I select the boot device). My friend owns a Macbook pro, I own a Macbook pro Retina. That may be the problem.
So, what are my solutions to reinstall Mavericks on my macbook (for free, obviously...) ? Should I visit an Apple store ?

If your Mac shipped with OS X 10.7 or later preinstalled, or if it's one of the computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery, you may be able to netboot from an Apple server by holding down the key combination command-option-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe. You should then be able to repartition the drive and install the original OS. After that, if you need to upgrade, download the current OS X installer from the App Store.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.

Well then when you erased your hard drive, your erased the Recovery partition, also.
Use Internet Recovery to either restore from your Time Machine backup or reinstall the OS if you don't have a TM Backup.
It will install the OS that shipped on that Mac. You can then upgrade via the App Store.

Configuration frame pop out of the main frame - how to do (architecture) ?

I have a main frame that upon it I have a config button I did.
This button pop open another frame in which the user config some variables which I need to use in the main frame actions.
What is the right way to do it? -
1. in the main frame constructor to create a config frame and save it as a data member in the main frame with setVisibility false, and when the user press the 'config' button I'll change the visibility to true
(and then if I want to take data from the config frame I'll take it from there)
2. To save only the config data in data members (this is a small window - 3 or 4 variables) and every time the 'config' button is pressed I'll build a config frame and in its' constructor I'll send the variables I saved in the main frame
and they will be shown in there (and ofcourse when the config frame will be closed I'll save the new variables in the data members and dispose the config frame)

I have a little problem.
I build my own class that extends JDialog (with check boxes, text areas etc.)
Then I Created a JOptionPane with OK_CANCEL buttons set it as my dialog content pane.
Now I see the the pane buttons at the top and all my components at the buttom, and its now good.
So Instead of JDialog i extends my class to JPanel and then called
'JOptionPane.showOptionDialog' , and set my panel as the message.
Now it looks good but i have another problem -
I want to do a validity check before the dialog is being closed.
Before I did with 'addPropertyChangeListener' method on my JOptionPane, but now I dont have an OptionPane because the 'showOptionDialog' is static.
So for conclusion -
How can I build a dialog thats:
1. Look like I want (text areas, check boxes, lables ...)
2. Has OK\Cancel button
3. Lets me do validity check after the ok was pressed (and if I want - wont close the dialog)
4. Return me values from the dialog (the text in the text area, the selection of the check box etc.)

your main frame needs to hold a reference to the second frame after its created. then use method calls (or even listeners depending on when you want the main to have the data) to retrieve the data.
you may need to do some tweaking/redesigning of how your frames work with the data they're displaying.

Hi,
I've been having my white Macbook for almost a year now, I think. But! I wanted to reinstall it. I wanted to know how to reinstall it back to like when I first got it new. The reason I am asking is because when I first got it, everything were already install for me, so I didn't have to do a thing. I just wanted to make sure I do it right. I mean I don't want any problem, it's better to be safe than sorry lol. It hasn't got any problem or what so ever but because I am getting a new logic 9 this Friday and I want everything wipe out just like it's new again, so my logic can work at maximum speed.
Basically I was just wondering if it's just like how you reinstall Windows, right? That's all am after lol
If it's just as easy as that then that's fine, just wanted to make sure.

There is no need to completely erase and reinstall. Most of us have never reinstalled since our computers were new. A Mac is not a Windows based PC. When there are issues with a Mac it can normally be resolved without completely wiping and reinstalling as in Windows based PCs.
That said, if you would like to start fresh, I suggest that the first thing that you should do is to clone your entire volume to an external firewire HDD so that nothing will be lost. You can always go back to the clone and recover it.
Once you have done that you can boot from the install disk, completely reformat, erase and then install the OS and install updates. (Please post back for step by step directions, if needed).
