HT201263 How do i restore factory settings to my ipod without an itunes account?

I know about turning the power off and then holding the home button until the "Connect to iTunes" screen pops up.....but what if I no longer have the computer or itunes account used to set the ipod up with?

Place the iPod in Recovery Mode and connect to a computer and restore via iTunes. Yoo will need an iTunes account. You can create a new one if you want.

If not successful, try DFU mode.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Is there any other solution to restore factory settings??
It will work definitly. But turn off the phone first and make sure you push all three buttons tight and turn on the phone. You have to keep them pressed until handshaking logo or pin enter is appear. I have use it so many time since my beloved 6600.

  • How do I restore factory settings on my MacBook Air?

I have sold my MacBook Air (bought in August 2011) and I need to restore factory settings.  Can someone please help?

As quoted from apple member Kappy
Boot from the Recovery HD by restarting the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and "R" keys until the computer starts from the Recovery HD. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
At this point all your data are securely removed. You can shut down the computer or reinstall Lion from the main menu.

  • Is there ANY way possible to MANUALLY restore factory settings for an ipod classic, FROM the device ITSELF (as opposed to restoring from iTunes or forcing a reformat elsewhere)?

I have 3 iPods:  1 Touch and 2 Classics.  The Touch and 1 of the Classics are both working fine; the other Classic is not showing up in iTunes, My Computer, or in Device Manager.  While I CAN do a simple reset, it accomplishes nothing, and I am UNABLE to get the faulty Classic into "disk mode".
Based on what I've encountered thus far, I have a suspicion that my faulty Classic somehow thinks it's formatted for the Mac, as I DO see the serial # and I do NOT see "Windows Format" in the About screen on the ipod itself.  Is that even POSSIBLE?  I have never used a Mac, but that's what the documentation I've read on this Support Site have lead me to believe.
The faulty Classic will charge ONLY in a wall charger; it clearly wants nothing to do with my laptop as it refuses to stand up and be recognized in iTunes or in My Computer....why??!!??    I DID try all of the other obvious troubleshooting items; I tried different USB ports, different cords, different laptops, and even different ipods.....BUT....all is well with everything else BUT for this pain-in-the-@$$ ipod.
IDEALLY.....since my ipod refuses to make itself available for me to "restore factory settings" via iTunes, the way it SHOULD be handled....., I'm wondering if there are any hackers out here that know of a way to FORCE a MANUAL restoration of factory settings of the ipod, via super-secret "key strokes" on the ipod itself (and not via the iTunes software that is curently useless for this particular ipod)....?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!  Without your assistance, my Classic ipod remains an expensive door stop and/or paper weight.  It's behavior at this point is nothing shy of rude and inconvenient!

There is no way to restore/reformat the device without connecting it to a PC or Mac.
Have you checked the iPod's dock connector for signs of bent/damaged/corroded pins that could prevent a full connection with your PC?  If there is any lodged debris, take a can of compressed air to it to blow it all out.

  • Can I restore to factory settings in my iMac without compromising iTunes or iPhoto?

I recently purchased a new iMac, but it seems to be running slower than it should. I fear this is from the transfer it completed from my old macbook. Can I restore factory settings and erase all the unnecessary stuff without erasing the items in my iTunes library or iPhoto library? Please advise. Gracias.

Putting it back to factory settings means erasing the hard drive. Your iMac did not come from the factory with your music or photos on it, right?
Move those libraries (the iTunes library is in your Music folder, the iPhoto library is in the Pictures folder, unless you moved either one previously) to an external hard drive. Then erase the internal hard drive and reinstll the system. Reconnect the external hard drive. Launch iPhoto while holding down the option key on your keyboard. When it asks where to find the library, point it to the library on the external hard drive. Do the same thing with iTunes.
    Best of luck.

  • HT1339 I have an iPod Classic.  No menu appear any more.  How do I restore factory settings.  I wanted to sincronize my iPod and then everything was deleted

I have an iPod Classic.  No menu appear any more.  Ican i Restore my iPod's factory settings?

Well the iPod is supposed to be synced from YOUR iTunes music library, if you used other means to put music on there then the iPod is going to sync to only what's on your itunes music library when you connect it.
You need to put the files into itunes.
Far as your other issues, sounds like the drive is dying.

  • How do I get the music from my Ipod to my Itunes account?

I recieved an older (2007) IPOD classic.  I want to add it to my computer along with the music already on the IPOD.  How do I start an ITUNES account with this used Ipod and NOT erase all the music already on the IPOD?  Years ago I had to use IPOD agent to do this.  Does this still exist?

  • How do I load music on my new ipod without using itunes?

I am having tons of problems with getting itunes to pull up on my computer. I believe that my computer has a pretty nasty virus in it and it is causing problems with many of my programs (internet explorer, norton, and other programs). I am having my computer worked on later this week so I hope to get the virus taken care of. I am aware of the many different virus cleaners and checkers that are free to me on the internet and I do plan on using them. But right now the issue is time. I don't have any. I am leaving tomorrow morning on a trip and would like to have my nice new 30gb ipod loaded up with some music that I already have my laptop to pass the time on the flight.
Again I do not need a pitch for using itunes....I know how cool it is and I plan on taking advantage of it as soon as I return and have time to fix my computer issues. I just need to know how to load what I already have on to my ipod.
When I connect my ipod via the USB cable and pull up that drive I see the files: Calendars, Contacts, and Notes. I am assuming that I need to create a "Music" file that I will then drag-and-drop the MP3 copies from my computer to the newly created file. Is this correct? If not....then what do I need to do?
Thanks for the much needed help.

    Sorry jrock,
You can use iTunes files to load other mp3 players with music files but iPods don't function like other mp3 players. You can't just load mp3's onto an iPod and play them, you have to use iTunes.
