my ipod touch continues to show a white screen. i have restored it on itunes, and it is still white! Any suggestions?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

How do I repair the white screen on my ipod touch. I have tried to hard reset the ipod, however every time I press the top button to lock the screen, it goes to a white screen.

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

okay, so my ipod screen is white.
     i tried to hold the two buttons down for like 5 minutes.
     plugging it into my computer (which didn't amount to anything because the computer didn't even pick up that it was connected to my ipod)
     and coming on here to find any way to fix this.

I downloaded Quicktime7 Pro, and I exported a video to make it formated for my ipod. The video downloaded to the ipod, but when i play it, all I get is a white screen, not even sound! Is there a way to fix this?

Hi, it looks you can't properly export video via QuickTime. You mentioned you don't get icons on Desktop. Can you check the size of exported file? Few kilobytes instead of megabytes can be one of signs of something went wrong when exporting. My advise is to remove QuickTime from your system at all and then reinstall it from stand-alone distribution. You can find stand-alone installers on QuickTime download page.

Over the weekend my ipod Touch, generation 3, turned to a white screen. I didn't drop it or anything, just turned it on and it was white. I tried to turn it off and on with no luck, several times, it still just comes up as a white screen. I also tried a restore from my computer and again no luck. Did the screen die on me or is there something else I can do? It is over two years old and I am the only owner. It is up to date with software and has always performed flawlessly. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a logic board issue. Check with some third-party repair depots. Some have flat-rate repair costs.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
