You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad. Take note of the last part in my post about using recovery mode. That is probably your only option now.

It is trying to restore my new ipod from the backup cloud, but it keeps asking me for the passwords of three different itunes accounts, two i know are my friends accounts and I don;t even know whoose the third is. I must have some of their music on my library or something, but it won't backup without these passwords it seems. Is there a way to get around this? I have the music in my Itunes library and can listen to it all I want and burn it on cds but I cant get it to go on my ipod without their passwords. If you have music that was purchased on different iTunes accounts than the one you use, then you must provide the password, otherwise the tunes are not considered yours. You can turn off iCloud and just use the usual USB sync method. But I wonder whether you'll have the same problem?

I changed my email Apple ID through my IBM laptop. Now on my iPad the old id is still there. Tried deleting thru I cloud option but it is asking password for the old id which I do not remember and I have new Apple ID for my iPad.

Sign out of old ID and sign in with new.
Settings>iTunes and App Store>Apple ID

Apple set up the App and iTunes store to require a valid payment method evn for free apps.
You can however set up a new App store account withut a credit card. That account is only good for free apps.

You will need to sign up for your own Apple ID and then buy and download Lion by calling Apple and getting a redemption code.

The "backup password" refers to a password you created when you elected to encrypt your iPhone's backup. If you cannot remember the encryption password, you will not be able to access the backup.

You need to put a sim card into the phone to be able to activate it - you can't activate a phone without a sim card.
If the phone has just been unlocked, then you don't need an AT&T sim card. Just put any sim card of your choice into the phone and if it is now unlocked, then it should work.

The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. in that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Trying to restore my iphone 4 but i keep getting an error (2001).

The phone will only stay on when it is plugged in and it is the screen that says to plug in to itunes. I get the error 2001 when it begins to restore and sets me back to the beginning. ive tried to hard restart it but i cant unplug it or it turns off.
