Yes, a message pops up on the computer that says..."The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred. (3014)" I tried to research this and tried all of the things Apple suggested but still am not having any luck with it. Thanks for any assistance you may provide!

  • When I updated to iOS 8.1 on my iPad 2 it failed when installing it's in recovery mode and when I go to iTunes to restore it downloads the update to about 900 Mbps then gives me error 9006

    Hi Willy,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The article below provides information about specific update and restore alerts, including the 9006 alert that you saw when attempting to update your iPad 2 to iOS 8.1. Try using the instructions provided to see if the issue is caused by a conflict with the security software on your computer.
Resolve iOS update and restore errors
    Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.
    I hope this helps,
    -Jason

If you didn't back it up, your data is gone. There is no "solution" after the fact.

  • I have a ipod touch 4 gen with 8gb but it is stuck in recovery mode and when i try restoring it it says cannot restoe then error 1604 what do i do

i have an ipod touch 4g with 8gb but it is stuck in recovery mode and when i try to restore it an error pops up saying that the ipod ipod can not be restored then the number 1604 pops up how do i fix it

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • I was in the process of jailbreaking and updating my ipod and when i was updating it,it went into recovery mode and now i cant get it out of recovery mode so what can i do??

i was in the process of jailbreaking and updating my ipod and when i was updating it,it went into recovery mode and now i cant get it out of recovery mode so what can i do??

    Go elsewhere:
Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty and also means that you will not get any support from Apple, including from this Apple forum. Jailbreaking can't be discussed in this Apple forum.
Unauthorized modification of iOS has been a major source of instability, disruption of services, and other issues

Make sure you are using current iTunes on your computer. Click the iTunes Tab at the top of this page. Or try to Restore your iPhone with a different computer.

hi my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and when i went to swtich the phone off the apple logo came up and the loading bar at the bottom. what do i need to do to get it back to normal.

If you want to start the Restore Process over then follow these simple steps. Restart computer. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both home and power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click Restore button of iTunes.

  • I have tried to sync my iphone 4.  Usually no problem but today it says the phone is in recovery mode and the phone seems to be frozen

I don't usually have a problem syncing my ipone4 but today I am getting a message on my Mac saying my phone is in recovery mode.  My iphone is frozen with an illustration of the connector and itunes.

Legitimate unlocking does not require the original carrier's SIM after restoring the phone. So maybe something went wrong, for which you should contact Orange. Or maybe you didn't do the unlocking through Orange.

  • HT201401 My phone is stuck in recovery mode and itunes wants me to do a restore, but I don't have my information backed, so I will lose a bunch of my information/photos if I restore it.

Can anyone help me with my phone being stuck in recovery mode?  I have looked all over the internet and have had no success.  I have not tried to restore it with Itunes, because my data is not backed up and I don't want to lose it.  Tinyumbrella would not work and the apple support website is completely useless!

Thanks, I figured that out, so I went ahead and restored it, which also didn't work!  It gave me an error 3194, which I also can't figure out.

  • My iPod Touch won't restore on iTunes! It's stuck on recovery mode and I can't get it to restore after I updated the software! Help?

Okay, so I got an iPod touch, 4th gen, 32gb, brand new and running perfectly fine two years ago. Used it for about six months, lost it, and finally found it again a month ago tucked away in my recliner. It was as dead as a doornail, but I had it charged up and ready to go in a few hours.
So I wanted to get a special app for my iHome, as well as spend all of my accumulated iTunes cards that were previously useless due to the fact that I had lost my iPod for a year and a half. The app store said I had to update to the current software to download anything new, so I did just that about half an hour ago, updating to the latest version of iTunes and downloading the new software for my iPod like I was supposed to.
Only when I applied it to my iPod, it went into Recovery Mode as expected, but I can't restore it! I've made sure there's no extra USB attachments in it, my firewalls are currently down to get around this stupid thing (just turned them back on because it wasn't working), and feeling like I just let all this money slip down the drain.
If you have any relevant advice, please help! I'm running on Windows 7 with the current version of iTunes (64 bit). Help!

  • My iPhone 3 is stuck in Recovery Mode and now will not even come up in iTunes

I bought my phone last week and only received it yesterday and last night, i was updating it on itunes, when it went into recovery mode.
I have tried many different ways of getting it out and nothing has helped at all.
And now, my iTunes will not even recognise the device.
When I was trying to restore the phone it kept coming up with code 1015.
    Please help!

    Morning lisa-mariefromqld,

  • Crash during update to 6.1.2 - iTunes won't connect to the phone, stuck in recovery mode.

Latest update for iPhone 5 has put it into restore mode - iTunes doesn't acknowledge its existence. Anything I can do just to bring it back to life?

Are you running the very latest version of iTunes? Mine was quite old, and I think that may have been the problem. I think this because I managed to get my phone working again by borrowing my sister's macbook and using her iTunes (up-to-date) to restore my phone. Then I restored my phone to an iCloud backup. Worked for me, might work for you too.

  • Hi, my iphone 5 encountered an unknown error while updating to iOS 7 via itunes and is now stuck in recovery mode and prompts me to restore the phone when I connect it to itunes but then I would lose all my data. Any suggestions please?

Hi, my iphone 5 encountered an unknown error while updating to iOS 7 via itunes and is now stuck in recovery mode and prompts me to restore the phone when I connect it to itunes but then I would lose all my data. I DO NOT have any back ups on itunes. Is there anyway to get out of recovery mode without restoring or recover data after a restore?
Or any other suggestions please? Thanks

As pdroth said, you should have gotten a backup made when you started the update of iOS. If you cannot find a backup, and the phone is in recovery mode, there are no futher suggestions to make. To get the phone working again you have to restore. You cannot force a backup at this time since it is already in recovery mode. It will not allow anything else but a restore at this point.

  • Ipod stuck in recovery mode and won't restore. says it can't connect to the network.

My son tried to jailbreak his ipod touch like an idiot and of course it did not work. Now his ipod is stuck in recovery mode and I can't get it to restore. I get a message that says:the ipod software update server could not be contacted. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later. I have internet access and everything is working but itunes can't connect to it. Why? I have been having issues with itunes for a couple weeks now. I can't connect to the store and redeem itunes cards either.

Make sure the setting for your security software allow iTunes to contact Apple servers:
iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues
As for the iPod, since he tried to modify the software, the only thing that could help would be DFU mode , we can't help much more, problems with jailbroken devices can't be discussed in theses forums, due to the Terms of Use.
Your son has to ask those people for help, which encouraged him to jailbreak his device.
