ipod touch 4g is frozen it has an itunes symbol with a usb cable picture on the screen.i pluged it in the computer .because i had no storage on the ipod to update the software it said there was an error . i did a back up before but will music backed too? music on this ipod is from previous computer.
will the back up restore music?

And what did the error message say?

Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Frozen IPOD Touch w/ USB connector symbol

IPOD touch is frozen with USB connector/ITUNES symbol on screen. I can only turn the IPOD on and off, and it always comes back to this screen. I've connected it to my MacBook, but ITUNES won't allow it to connect until I enter the passcode on the IPOD Touch....which obviously I cannot do. I cannot reset IPOD Touch. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so what do I do? Thanks in advance...

Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB to iPhone, the device should then power on.
Restore your iPod.

IPod touch frozen and itunes cannot detect iPod?

It just began with me connecting my iPod to my mac and a window popping up saying "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly, and you must manuually eject the ipod before each disconnect".I didn't know how to update it again (because my itunes is the lastest version already). You can't even see the contents (music, apps, books) of my ipod on itunes. I forgot to eject it manually today and now my ipod is frozen on the homescreen where all the apps are. Did you try to reset by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, untilt he Apple logo comes back again? If this does not work, try to connect in recovery mode, explained in this article:

With your iPod still connected to your PC, try a hard reset. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck, try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode using the instructions in this Apple support document and then restoring it to factory defaults in iTunes.

Windows 7 64 bit, iPod touch 2nd gen, iTunes sync issue

I have Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium and am frustrated to death. I have spent days wiping out my iPod trying something different an only to start all over again. I am not a n00b to computers and only ask because I only find a trail of tears and none of the problems I see look specifically like mine.
I have been following this issue since Feb 2010 and notice reports that are sort of similar back to Jan of 2009. Anyway here is my problem.
iTunes will recognize my iPod touch 2nd Gen. iTunes will "sync" apps and data. iTunes will not sync movies, music, books, or software upgrades.
I get an error code that changes depending on what I am trying and seems to lead to no where. I can't honestly remember the code anymore.
I can sync with this same computer using Windows XP 32 Pro win a VirtualBox VM, but can not do it directly from within Windows 7. So hardware and drivers are not the issue. I reinstalled iTunes with a Vista 64 bit install that I found online which appeared to work temporarily then ultimately I ended up back where I started.
I actually switched to Windows (from linux) because I got tired of the VirtualBox method. Quite ironic that I am still facing the same issue.
On top of the not being able to sync properly from Windows 7 64 bit. Everytime I try I have to put in hours of work to get my Ipod back to working order as iTunes only allows you to sync with one computer and is slower that snail poop in January. In order to try again I have to be willing to commit to the problems that I am most likely to encounter.
So my questions are
1. Does anyone have a clue why Apple has not fixed this issue? or is there a solution I don't know about?
2. Is there an easier way to attempt a fix that does not require me to re organize my 70+ apps on my iPod?
P.S. I do not have an intel based chipset as that seems to have been an issue for others. I have

Are you sure that you downloaded the 64 bit version and not the 32 bit version? I would delete the download and try again. You also might want to look at the iTunes forum since youu have an iTunes problem and not an iPod problem.

Connecting iPod touch using USB 1

I just got my iPod Touch this evening. Before it arrived I made sure I had the latest system software and got the latest iTunes but I forgot that I had an old G4 which only has USB 1.1 and iPod Touch needs USB 2. Is there a way to upgrade to USB 2 ?
When I connect the iPod Touch does not appear on iTunes or the desktop.
Any suggestions ?

You should probably buy yourself a USB 2.0 card that fits in one of the PCI slots in your G4. They're quite cheap now, and will add 2, 4 or more USB 2.0 ports to your Mac.

Yes. You can sync an unlimited number of iDvies that you control to one iTunes library/account. If using the same iTunes library on the same comutr just make sure that yu go to the ap. music and other pane for the iPod in iTunes and select sycn selected items. Not the the whole library. That way each iPod can have it own contents.

Remote App on IPod Touch Connect to ITunes on Win7

Is anyone having a problem making the Remote APP on ipod touch connect to ITunes on Win7 over WiFi? Itunes sees it alright, asks for a Passcode which the ipod supplies, considers it and then says it is invalid. I'm open to suggestions.

Yes it is, I click on the "Remote" button, type the passcode into iTunes, it thinks for a while then comes back and says "invalid passcode". The two are communicating or iTunes wouldn't show the "Remote" button or display the passcode entry window.

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
