  • Turn on problem

    hi,
today I had a problem with my mac. It won't turn on: I pushed the power button, the mac made the start sound but it is blocked on the gray screen (neither the apple logo appeared).
i made several tests, but nothing. then i try to restart the power manager and it works( infact now i'm writing here)
    but i have some questions:
    a) do you think that my turn on problem is completely fix now? and why sometimes macs have this sort of problem, as we can read in this document (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303234)?
    b) do you think that it could be useful if i run onyx fully in his features(i.e. deleting caches and optimizing the system)?

    hi,
today I had the same problem again. Yesterday when I turned off the mac, I noticed that it taked a long time to turn off (it stayed for about 2 minutes with the blue screen, with the gray wheel that rolling)
And 10 minutes ago when I try to turn on the mac, it won't boot (it was stopped on the first gray screen). than i tried again to push the power button, I disconnetted all the external devices (usb mouse and firewire dvd recorder), and then finally it turned on.
Do anyone could say me why my mac have this strange problem? And how can I do for fix it?

  • My solution for cannot turn page problem in ADE

It seems this problem has been there for a while. I have this problem in ADE 2.0 and 3.0. I solve this problem on my computer today.
This problem is not a "turnning page" problem but an UI refresh problem, if you turn page, close ADE and reopen it, you will find the page actually turnned,  I guess this problem occurs on a computer which have two display card. On my laptop, a NVIDIA, and an integrated. ADE works fine on NVIDIA and not on the integrated one.
So Here is my solution: Tell ADE not running on the integrated display card but on NVIDIA. You can do so by using NVIDIA's control panel program. "manage 3D settings" -> "program setting" tab, add ADE, and tell it running on NVIDIA.

System: Windows 7; graphics (onboard Motherboard) Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 Properties.
    I have the same problem:
ADE does not turn page *unless* I resize the ADE window after turning the page.  After resizing the ADE window, the page will turn.
I don't have multiple displays.  I don't know how to adjust my display setting to facilitate ADE.  Still looking for a solution... If you find a solution or a better product, let us know.

  • HT201401 Is there a fix for the will not turn on problem?

My iPhone 5 did not wake me up this morning and it would not turn on.  I was reading the news on it before retiring to bed, I plugged in the charger and left it on the night stand.  This moring it would not turn on with either the home button or the power button.  Holding the power button down for many seconds did nothing.  I put it on a different charger for 30 min or so, thinking the charger may have failed the the battery ran out, no go.  By going through the trouble shooting procedures on Apple Support I learned there is a reset procedure by pressing and holding the power and home buttons at the same time.  I tried this and it booted up and appears to be OK.  The battery was at 99% so it did take a charge while in the off state.  Is this a common problem and is Apple working on a fix?  This is my first iPhone and it's not making me feel good about the product now.

    Thanks for your persistence.

  • Nokia 603 cannot turn on , problem with ON button

Hi, I'd appreciate if anyone could help me
My nokia603 ON button works fine when the phone is already on, meaning i can press it to switch the phone off, but when the phone is off, and try to turn it on again by pressing the on button, it doesnt respond. any reason for that?
currently my phone is off, so i m having a lot of problem turning it on. any ideas on how to turn it on? i've tried connecting it to the charger and computer but it just doesnt respond
also as a last resort, is there any way i can transfer data from my dead phone to my computer without turning on the phone?
I really appreciate any help for my questions, thanks a lot for reading
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hello Hans, thank you for your advice
I managed to get my phone started after hours of pressing the on button and hoping for a response. Now it's already turned on and I plan not to turn it off again or else I will have to go thru the same process of trying to get it back up. It works fine when it is already on
I think unplugging and plugging in multiple times serves the same function as pressing the on button many times. I've tried that too, but it just happened that I got lucky while pressing the on button instead of while plugging it in
Yes my phone definitely has hit the ground a few times, but definitely not from a dangerous height. Maybe 2 feet off the ground? And yes also liquid damage but also a bit, like when I use it during a drizzle?
I've brought it to get checked , its not a battery problem they said. but they cannot do anything because its an old model.
Thank you for your helpful ideas. I guess the best way is to just buy a new phone and move on

  • Nokia C7-00 Turning Sensor Problem

HI all. A just buy the C7 and it seems that after every restart the turning sensor only works for 20-30 min, after thet not responding. Does anyone have the same problem? It could be a factory problem or some aplication does something to the sensor? I have to restart to work again for only 20-30 min. Help please

I was having the same problem, but figured it out... If you hold the phone upright then turn it the phone it works fine and the sensor works fine as it should. If you try to turn the phone in a flat position ie not upright  then obviously the sensor wont work properly and the screen will not turn accordingly.

  • Turning off problem

Like alot of people, i have been facing the same problem, once my ipod mini is on it wont turn off (unless directly plugged into the power socket or usb). Holding down play has no effect and it wont put itself to sleep no matter how many hours go by. Basically, if i turn it on and dont have access to a power socket or a pc it will remain on until the battery is completely drained. Things i've tried:
    a) updated the firmware using the updater, no change.
    b) reset all setings in the ipod, no change
    c) reset the ipod by holding down menu and play/pause. The ipod reboots, enters the menu and again doesnt switch off.
    d) tried literally every combination involding the hold toggle as suggested on some forums, no luck.
Basically, this is getting kind of frustrating since I cant use it for every day chores since once on it cant turn off. Im also suspecting this is not good for the battery as well. Its well out of warranty so im hoping somebody here has anything in mind to propose (or maybe im missing something).
    Thanks in advance

Since you tried all there is, I can't see any alternative but to send it for service to one of the 3rd party repair sites here in the UK. (cheaper than Apple)
This is not a frequently posted problem, and on the odd occasion I've seen it, it's always been cured by a restore.

  • Bizzare turn-on problem for MDD Mac

Very strange problem here. My Dual 1GHz MDD Mac won't turn on UNLESS I unplug the power cord and plug it back in! Then it will start up just fine!
I have replaced the PRAM battery, reset PRAM, repaired permissions, all the things I can think of. The Mac works perfectly, but if I shut it down, I must pull the plug and plug it back in to restart it.
    Any ideas?
    Mike

    Open Firmware reset-nvram?
Booted w/ battery out (just once) and then replaced?
    PSU okay?
    Apple Hardware Test?
    PMU reset?
Unplug the machine, pull the clock battery, hit the power button to discharge. Then plug it in without the clock battery. The machine should boot perfectly. Shut down, reinstall the clock battery, and now the system is fully functional.
I feel booting with CMD + OPT + of keys on startup to Open Firmware and thence, reset-nvram is the best first step in troubleshooting hardware.

  • New strange turning off problem

i've not spotted this one on the forums yet, my MBP is powering down suddenly, not suspending or saving just ping power off.
This seems to be happening when battery gets low as if it's misjudged the timer and suddenly run out fo juice.
Most people are having an issue with it bombing out after only a few minutes on battery, not me it's doing a couple of hours then pop.
I contacted apple care mine is not a seriel number in the recall but they are sending me a new battery anyway, read more here

I used the macbook pro on battery mode again last night to test if it will turn off again without warning. It did. The sleep indicator flashed. I tried to turn it on again using the power button but it wouldn't. So I just left it and went to bed. Today, I tried to turn on the macbook pro on battery mode again. It turned on suprisingly. And now the indicator is saying 43:58. So does that mean it will run 43 hours? I've been using the macbook pro for about an hour and a half or so and says its 37:11. Can anyone tell me what do u think is the problem here? it seems too good to be true that my battery will run for 37 hours.

  • Satalite P300D: standby and turning off problem

I have a problem with especially the standby modus. When I close the laptop he is supposed to go to standby, and sometimes he just does that, but other times(especially if I do it two times after eachother) the ventilator will go on extremely loud and the screen will turn black and the only way to stop this is to push the on/off button until the laptop shuts off. Sometimes I have the same problem with shutting the laptop down.
I think it started right after installing windows 7, could it have something to do with that?

    Hi mate
Well, this could be possible since the Win 7 supports a little bit different power management settings as well.
    I recommend checking the BIOS.
You should update it if a newer version is available.
Furthermore you should install the Win 7 VAP (value added package) which can be downloaded from the Toshiba European driver page

  • Satellite A30 hibernation and turning on problems

    hi
i have had my toshiba sattelite A30 laptop for 14 months now, and havent had any major problems until now. whenever i turn my laptop off or put it into hibernation, it wont restart normally the next time i use it, it just acts as if it is starting, then stops and turns itself off, and will do this over and over until i remove the power cable and take out the battery, then put it back in and restart, and then it just acts normally.
i have checked and deleted all viruses on my hard drive, but this problem is worrying me.
does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
    thanks

    Hi,
did you tried to reinstall the Toshiba Power Saver yet?
A friend of mine had also hibernation problems and he reinstalled the power saver!
We dicussed about it and it can be that the hibernation file is damaged and have to be generated new!

  • MSI 770-C45 with TV turner card problem

My problem is that  it will freeze up after I start the TV turner program.  I have tried two different TV turner cards, both are of PCI-E 1X interface.  Both TV turner works fine in other motherboard of 780G chipset (Vista or Window 7).  Currently I am using Mygica 8557 in a 64 bit Windows 7 environment, the computer will freeze 30 seconds  after the TV software (TotalMedia) start . However, I can ran 3DMark2006 without any problem.  Before using Mygica 8557, I use another TV turner PE186Q , the case is even worse, the computer will freeze during driver installation (Vista 32bit) .  But the same card work fine with another brand 790GX motherboard.
I would suspect it is the IRQ problem but since there is no adjustment option for PCI-E resouces in BIOS, there is nothing I can do.
Did anyone have the same problem like mine ?
My config is as follow :
    Phenom II 545
    MSI 770-C45
    G. Skill DDR3-1333 2G x 2
    WD 320G hard disk
    ATI 2600XT

Tried with 1 stick and the system was alot more stable, no BSOD's or any kind of freezing.  I ran prime95 overnight with 1 stick and all was fine, if I insert another stick the system is still stable but I get an error in prime95 after a few minutes.

Re-test the each stick alone. [You may have defective stick]
If each one is stable at his own, before fill all 4 DIMM's:
    * Leave Memory timings to Auto
    * Ensure 2T is used
    * Drop memory freq. to 1066
    * Apply memory voltage recommended by memory vendor

Reboot. I think your USB driver crashed.
If that does not help, uninstall (via control panel) ALL apple software, reboot (again) and then reinstall it all again.
