Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:

To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod touch is stuck in recovery mode and won't restore?

Okay my Ipod Touch is stuck in recovery mode and will not restore because "the ipod software update server cannot be contacted". I have tried to restart my computer, restart my ipod, tried different computers, and re-intalled AND updated my itunes and it still will not restore. It is stuck on the picture of the usb cable pointing to itunes and won't do anything else. I'm trying to restore it because my memory was full and I wanted to clean it out and now the ipod is useless, please help me restore it!

My iphone is stuck in recovery mode and itunes will not recognize my phone. I've tried pretty much every trick i can and i still do not know what to do. Someone please help me

I've done all of these, even trying a different USB port, and still, nothing. This is really confusing. Windows 8.1 said something to do with USB malfunction or something and nothing works. I need to restore my iPhone quickly and nothing has happened. My cable is not genuine Apple product. iTunes makes the noise that it makes when I connect the device, but it doesn't say 'iPhone is in recovery mode' or even say 'iPhone' in the corner. I am really fed up and would really appreciate a response.
    Thanks,
    Nathan.

  • HT201263 My ipod touch is locked in recovery mode and I need help

The ipod is locked in recovery mode. Everytime I plug it into the computer iTunes pops up and says it has detected ipod in recovery mode and it must be restored before using it with itunes.
After I go throught he extracting software and then it locks up in itunes saying its waiting for the ipod but it just sits there for hrs with no result.
    I need help please

No. You have to restore. To allow the restore try the following:
    - A reset.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Manually placing the iPod in Recovery Mode
    - Placing the iPod in DFU mode.

  • My iPod (4 gen) is stuck in recovery mode and it will not restore. How do I fix it?

So here is what happened: my iPod went dead and when I went to plug it in to charge I noticed it wasn't doing the normal little battery charging symbol nor did it pop up with the apple symbol. When I opened up iTunes it told me that my iPod was stuck in recovery mode and that the only way to fix it was by restoring it. As much as it pained me to do so I did it anyways. It did the routine update and restore window, I waited the 28 minutes, but still nothing. Now when I go to restore it a window pops up that says that the iPod cannot be restored because the iPod update server cannot be contacted or is currently unavailable. I'm at a loss. This the the only form of communication that I have available to me and I need it fixed A.S.A.P. Please help!
    Additional Details
    My iPod is NOT jailbroken.
Now it says and unknown error occurred (3194) please help!
The lock/hold button on my iPod is broken. My iPod cannot be locked, unlocked, or shut down using this button.

  • IPod Touch 4g stuck in recovery mode and lock button broken

A few days ago my lock button stopped functioning, and seeing as I'm not brave enough to try and fix it myself and I haven't been able to take it to get fixed anywhere yet, I just enabled the internal lock button feature and, frankly, hoped for the best. This afternoon I connected it to iTunes because after updating to iOS 6 too many things have been going wrong. There was an error message (I can't remember which one :S) but stupidly I decided to restore it (mainly in the hope that iOS 6 would sort itself out I guess). Once it had finished extracting files, there was another error message, which again I can't remember, but it was something along the lines of iPod cannot be restored basically. Then it went into recovery mode, and I've been unplugging, plugging in, shutting down my computer and all sorts of things all evening. As far as I can tell, the only way out of recovery mode is to hold the lock button and the home button down for thirty seconds ish until the apple logo comes up. Except my lock button doesn't work. I guess I'll just try and get it fixed this weekend but if there are any other solutions that would be awesome! Thanks!

    - Let the battery fully drain and try again to restore after charging for at least an hour.
    - Try on another computer
    - See if you can cycle the iPod in and out of recovery mode with:

  • Ipod touch 3g stuck between recovery mode and apple sign

    Hello everyone,
I was hoping someone could assist me... I have an iPod Touch 3g (32gb) that is stuck in recovery mode.  Once in a while, it'll go to the start up Apple Logo... but then it'll go back to the recovery mode/connect to iTunes screen.  To add to the fun, sometimes it would go into regular iPod mode and I can surf the net, and do regular things.  However, when it goes into that mode... the screen would flicker between the regular screen and a greyish screen.  At that point, I shut the iPod off... but when I do that the iPod will turn itself back on (yes, it's strange).
Anyone with any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have tried to recovery the iPod on iTunes... once it "succeeds", it goes back telling me to recover the iPod again so it's basically looping.  I've tried to recover this device with another computer with iTunes... same result.  I can't get this thing on DFU mode.. as it won't respond to it.  I've also tried various USB cables.
Is there any hope? (or any ideas in terms of what could be causing the issues)
    Thanks a bunch.

Thanks, I'll try it out, and update here.  It might take a little while for the battery to drain without being used.

  • My iPod Touch is stuck in Recovery mode and would not respond. Please Help!

Hi! I have an iPod Touch 2nd Generation 8GB. Yesterday, I tried to update to iOS 4.0 from 3.1.3 by way of shift-click restore because my iPod was jailbroken. When the restore process was about 95% done, I received a "Send Error Report" and in every time I do it whether if I am downgrading back to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3.
My iPod touch is still stuck in DFU/Recovery mode. I tried using another of my USB cable, USB port, and computers but to no avail. I even reinstalled iTunes and I still get the same result.
Please does anyone know how to fix this?

Restoring and updating normally also produces the same result.

  • I updated last night and now my ipod touch is stuck in recovery mode and I don't want to do a factory restore!

How do I get out of recovery mode, that my ipod touch suddenly went into, after updating last night? It does not recognize my ipod anymore and I don't want to restore it back to factory conditions. I have tons of things on the ipod and don't want to lose them! Is there any other way to get out of this 'recovery mode'??

  • I've accidentally apparently put my iPod Touch 4th Gen into Recovery Mode. I have not jailbroken. When I plug it in to my Windows 7 computer, it says that all values are n/a. I tried restoring and I got error message 2005. It won't turn on. How do I?

As the title says. Please, help me, I'm a little worried. Is it possible that I have somehow bricked my iPod?
EDIT: My iTunes is not up to date, I updated it last the week iOS 5 came out, it tells me that there's a new update. Could I need this update to restore to iOS 5.0.1 from my PC? Because I just did OTA to get to 5.0.1.

Never mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!
P.S. For anyone who experiences this, here is the fix: Hold Power and Home in unison for 6 seconds, then power on as normal.

Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise.
