HT201263 When I plug my ipod into my computer (since i've downloaded itunes 11) itunes won't acknowledge my ipod is plugged in

It makes an odd sound and then just doesn't acknowledge that my ipod is plugged in!

Then try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
