    Do this:
    Create a separate user account for you. Launch iTunes, then Store>Authorize this Computer. Then:
    By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are using a new computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone.     Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in itunes(under the edit menu if using Windows).
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
    You should be good to go.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
    (Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
    In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
    If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
    Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
    If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

    I've reserved an iPhone 4 for pick-up in store and was wondering what the procedure was to change telecom provider. I'm currently with O2 (but out of contract) but may switch to Vodafone if the tariff is better. During the reservation procedure is said you could choose a contract during pick-up but was wondering if I needed to do anything at my end i.e. grab a PACS number?

    I doubt all authorized resellers will get the new phone on release date. Your best bet is an AT&T store or an Apple store(reserve ahead on the 15th). If you want this to go smoothly, pre-order on the 15th for pick-up at your Apple store on release date or have it shipped to you.

    ohkay.... so my iphone decided to turn off on me while i tryd opening the app. clash of clans, and when i turned it back on, it displayed the apple logo for 10 - 15 seconds on the screen before fading out and shutting down. i have tryd all recomnded steps and none have worked. my itunes detects my phone in recovery mode, but after retrieving all necesary data for the restore process. when itunes prompts waiting for iphone, the apple logo is dsplayed on the screen for 10 - 15 seconds and then fades out and shuts down... has anybody found a fix for this problem?

    It's quite probable that your iPhone has a hardware problem. Contact Apple Support or make an appointment at an Apple Store and have your iPhone evaluated.

    You can get your photos off your phone.  If they are all in Camera Roll just import them to your new computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).  If some of them were synced to your iphone from your computer (i.e., in photo library) just use an app like PhotoSync and send them to your new computer wirelessly.  For that matter, you can sync your phone with your new computer without losing your data and settings if you carefully follow this guide: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.  Your only issue will be non-purchased music on your phone which is not in your new iTunes library, which will require 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer from your phone to iTunes (or you will have to rip you CDs again to import them).

    For photos, you need to sync from old device to computer then from computer to new device.  Use Itunes to make a backup of the old device then restore to the new one.

    I had all of my pictures (about 1000) in icloud and i went from an iphone 4s to the 5s. Well my pictures were there when i first activated the phone but after i did the update they were ALL gone and it would be really fantastic if i could have all of my pictures restored onto my new phone since i thought that was the whole point in having the icloud. doesnt do me any good if i cant actually have any of my pictures that i saved to icloud for this very reason. when i upgraded i could keep my pictures. icloud.com doesnt help. none of the settings in my phone help. i feel like im going to have to reset my entire device and start all over again like its new. which i really dont want to do.

    Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and install any updates available.
    Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
    When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.

    This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
    Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
    Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
