How can I unlock the password of my iPod touch without having to lose data?
You see, I'm trying to transfer the data from my iPod touch to my iPhone and I can't unlock the password of my iPod because it's cracked and I can't use the iPod at all. And the only way to unlock my iPod is by getting rid of everything from my iPod and I don't want that. What should I do? Can anyone help me on this?
- Can you create a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and then click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up? If so do that than then restore the iPhone from that backup with all apps already in the iTunes library. The iOS on the iPhone has to be greater than or equal to that of the iPod.
- Otherwise you are out of luck.

You should be able to recover the media with the tips in this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That should switch the assocation of the device to the new library but it is not something I've personally tested.
When you get it all working, make a backup!

If the music on the iPod was purchased through iTunes you can try Transfer Purchases.
Connect the iPod to the Mac and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPod name on the left side of the iTunes window under the devices heading and select Transfer Purchases. That should transfer the music into the iTunes library on the Mac.

My friend has this ipod touch 4gen and she no longer has the laptop itunes was on. So she sent me on a mission to reset the ipod she has now forgotten the password to. I've been offered an ipod touch screen last Christmas and it's only a week ago that I took it out of its box. I still can't figure out how to transfer my music library from my laptop to the ipod. But I've installed some apps thinking I would be able to listen to my favourite radio station and play some games wherever I go and to my disappointment nothing's working if not connected to an internet connection. I thought an ipod was an improved walkman and actually it is nothing but a device that should be connected to the internet to work.
Considering that I don't have a free internet connection to the internet on my mobile phone, I was just wondering wht's the purpose to have an ipod? I really consider to go back to my old walkman... You can only sync with one computer. If you sync to another computer then the iPod media from the iPod get erased (as the message says) and is replaced with what is in the iTunes library of the second computer.

- Try entering the screen lock passcode on your iPod if not done already
