HT201269 How do I disable imessage on a phone that was traded to Best Buy ?

How do I disable 'imessage' on an i phone that was traded to Best Buy?

Do this first
Wipe iPhone/iPad/iPod touch clean
There are a few steps to do:
Switch off iMessage in Settings > Messages
Switch off FaceTime in Settings > FaceTime (iPod touch 4th Generation or later, iPhone 4 or later and iPad 2 or later)
Delete iCloud in Settings > iCloud > Delete Account
Finally Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Un-register your device: https://supportprofile.apple.com
Now you can sell/give.

  • How do I disable iMessage verification of phone number?

I've recently changed my phone to an android and wishes to keep my iPhone 3GS as an "iPod" and use the imessage feature via WiFi. After removing the sim card and enabling/disabling iMessage, I managed to send out iMessages via my apple ID.
HOWEVER, iMessage receives messages to my phone number! as my current android do not support iMessage, recipients whom have iMessage have their messages lost somewhere in the iMessage server. It showed that the message was delivered but neither my android nor 3GS received it.
Then I realised that the iPhone was still trying to verify my phone number!
Is there anyway to stop this? It is causing troubles when the other parties with imessage tries to text me on my samsung.
Turning off iMessage on my 3GS would allow messages to get through to my samsung, but I would like to preserve the feature of imessage on my 3GS for texting purposes.
After googling for help, I've came across this solution, but apparently it does not help either.

It's about unregistering the iPhone from the support site.
So, anyone can help me out on this? Much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Were you and your wife sharing the same Apple ID for iMessage on each iPhone?
I have a business and personal iPhone with iMessage activated on each. I receive iMessages on both devices sent to either cell phone number along with an option on each to send new iMessages from with the appropriate number on each iPhone, and both numbers are available with the Messages app on my Mac.
If your wife is using the same Apple ID with iMessage on her iPhone, her iPhone will need to be unregistered as well and she will need to use a different Apple ID when re-activating iMessage on her iPhone.

  • How can I disable iMessage on my phone number now that I don't have an iPhone?

I transfered my number to an iPhone for about 3 months. Now I'm on a different phone with the same number. Every time an iPhone user tries to send me a text/SMS message, it's sent via iMessage and I never receive it.
I've removed the phone number from my Apple Support account. iPhone users still default to sending me iMessages. iPhone users can manually choose to send me SMS and I will receive the message. I receive text/SMS from every other type of phone on every carrier without fail.
How can I get my number out of the iPhone/iMessage system entirely?

    Go to https://supportprofile.apple.com
Log in with your Apple ID and password.
Select the product you need to de-register (your iPhone, for example).
    Click Unregister

  • How do I disable imessage to a phone number without the phone?

I switched from my iphone 4 to the galaxy note 3. I love the phone but whenever iphone users text me it is still sending in imessage. This is obviously an issue because a lot of my friends have an iphone still. I have went into my account and disabled all devices on the icloud. I have also turned off imessage on my ipad and my parents imac. When I switched my phones at the store they bought my iphone, so I do not have the option to turn it off on that. I need a solution to where imessages only get sent to my email or just as SMS. I thought that when I switched I would have become unrecognizeable in imessaging, but obviously I thought wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Clyde. I called that number but they told me to go to icloud.com and delete the number while looking at it under Find My iPhone. It didn't change anything. Other iphone users can still send me imessages. Is there a way I can delete my whole account and basically unregister my information from the system?

  • How do I disable iMessage for my phone number?

I recently upgraded my iPhone 3GS to a Samsung Galaxy S3.  Consequently, I now no longer use iMessage.  My wife has an iPhone 5 and when she tries to message me, it always tries to send as an iMessage instead of a standard SMS message.
I have done the following to try and eradicate the hold iMessage has over my messages.
    On the iPhone:
Put my SIM back in so it's the same number
Disabled all the email addresses from iMessage
    Signed out of iMessage
    Turned off iMessage
    On my Apple profile
    Unregistered ALL my devices
Removed all but the minimal required information
    Changed my Apple ID password
What else am I supposed to do to fix this?  It's becoming a real pain not getting SMS messages now.

  • How can i disable imessage from automatically starting up when i turn on macbook air?

how can i disable imessage from automatically starting up when i turn on macbook air? i dont know my imessages to pop up on my laptop when it turns on. But i dont want to disable imessage totally on my macbook.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, check that Messages is closed when you turn off your MacBook. This is so important because, by default, OS X will reopen all opened apps the next time you start your Mac.
Apart from that, when you go to  > Shut Down, or  > Restart, in the window you see to restart or turn off your MacBook, unmark "Reopen windows when logging back in". This will avoid that your Mac opens all opened apps the next time you start the MacBook, so Messages won't start automatically at startup

If you do not want to receive your text messages on your Mac, open Messages, go to Messages menu (in the menu bar) > Preferences > Accounts, choose your iMessage account and untick your phone number or disable your account

I am no longer using an iPhone, how do i disable iMessage? I have already reset the iPhone back to factory defaults but when iPhone users text me it goes to iMessage and i do not receive the texts.

Only two ways I know of: 1. Put your sim back in the iPhone & turn iMessage off, or 2. If you registered your phone online with Apple, & setup a support profile, delete the phone from your profile.

    How do I disable imessage?

    Go to Settings...
    Disable iMessage (Turn it off).
Lock the ability to change account settings.  This is done under Restrictions settings. By doing this, your child cannot turn iMessage back on.  Only those with the Restrictions password can do so.
When you open iMessage, it says it is restrcited!
