HT201269 i have just had a new ipad

is it possible to transfer all th files music, pics apps etc onto my new ipad off my iphone through itunes? i have tried to do this by setting up my ipad2 from the latest back up of my iphone 4s, is that what i have to do as it does not seem to work or do i have to do this via icloud, sorry nut i am a little confused, thank you

Music isn't included in a backup, so restoring to a backup won't copy that onto your iPad. If you don't have all of your iTunes downloads (apps, music etc) on your computer's iTunes then you should be able to copy them over via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) - the actual apps are also not included in a backup, just their content and settings, so for a restore to work fully you also need them on your computer's iTunes.
For photos, then those taken with the phone should be included in the backup ; photos that were originally synced from a computer won't be (as they should already be on your computer there is no need to duplicate them in a backup).
If you have music on your phone that came from other sources (e.g. CDs) which is no longer on your computer's iTunes then do you have it on a backup ? If you don't then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back, and you can then sync them to your iPad.
