I want to make a slideshow to view on my television with image's duration ranging from seconds to an hour or more and I want to use my iPhone or iPad mini to control the television through my Apple tv.
I've been unable to locate an app that will do this. The Photos app that comes with the phone or iPad has extremely limited duration controls. PhotoStream seems to load everything from my phone or iPad not allowing me to just load up a set group of images.
iPhoto for iPad is getting some terrible recent reviews. I tried a couple other free apps but they don't use Airplay.
I can do something like this with iPhoto and my MB Air, but it's kind of ugly to have the computer open in order to connect by Airplay to my Apple TV. I've thought the iPad or iPhone would be a lower profile controller.
Am I out of luck? Thanks for your help. Since I'm uninterested in loading all my photos (the only option) into photostream, I won't be able to use the settings in ATV. I guess I'm just stuck with using iPhoto on my MB Air. Thanks again.

There is no way to stop iTunes from doing exactly what it is designed to do.
The iPhone is designed to sync with one and only one computer.
If you have moved/copied your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then iTunes wiping your device is no problem. You would simply sync and iTunes will put all the content back. -
I have a new computer and want to sync my Iphone and Ipad2 to the new computer (PC) instead of the old one, is there an easy way to do this?
Extract from one of our senior participant.
Syncing with new computer
1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources. -

I have an iPhone sync'd to my iTunes. My boyfriend has his own iPhone with his iTunes account set up within it. We want to sync his iPhone to my iTunes account on the PC but we want to retain everything from both phones and the iTunes account. Is this possible? Help!

Is this possible?
No. If you connect his phone to your iTunes account/computer, ALL iTunes content on his phone will be erased. By design, iPhone syncs or manually manages iTunes content with ONE computer at a time. -

How do i get my itunes from my old computer to my new computer so that I can sync my iphone
1. I had my iphone 4 synced with my old computer.
I have a new computer and want my iphone to sync with this computer.
I am not interested in any music syncing
I do not want to overwrite anything on my iphone
I want the information eg apps that appear when I sync on my old computer to work exactly the same on the new computer.
I do not want a new library.
2. I have tried to backup my phone on my old computer and i receive the message."iTunes could not back up the iPhone "Bronwyn's iphone" because the backup could not be saved on the computer."
To try to resolve this I have removed most photos, I am unable to remove one
I have transferred all audio recordings
I have over 200gb of space on the computer.
3. At one time I received the following messge The information on the iPhone 'Bronwyn's iPhone is synced with another user account. Do you want to sync this iPhone with the information from this user account instead?
Merge info - merges the information on this iPhone with the information from this user account.
"Replace Info" replaced theinformation on this iPhone with the information from this user account.
Then the clickable choices .
This box has not reappeared.
3. I am absolutely fed up trying to find a solution.
This should not be this difficult.
I welcome any and all help
but I do ask please provide simply easy to follow steps.
May thanks
BronwynYou should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

I have a 20gb iPod that needs music from ITunes. On my new computer I am trying to sync but I get error message "could not copy to iPod because file could not be read or written. Attempting to copy to the disk failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." I have tried several times and have reset to factory settings.
Is the new PC running XP as well, Chalotte?
If so, I might start with the following document (your error message is a possible symptom of the issue too):

My iMac calendar and contacts no longer sync on iPhone and iPad?
I updated iTunes on my iMac a few months ago. Since then my calendar and my contacts on the iMac have not been syncing on my iPhone and my iPad. My memory says there used to be an "Info" button at the top of the iTunes interface when I had my iPhone or iPad connected to the iMac for syncing. Do not see that button any more? Have been looking and looking for some new way to sync my calendar and my contacts, but have not found anything. This is one of several disappointments with the new iTunes. How do I get my iMac, iPhone, iPad calendars and contacts to sync??
It's been a real pain to have to enter calendar and contact information into all three! My iMac runs on Maverick, my iTunes is 11.1.3, and the iPhone and iPad run on iOS 7.0.4Hello Bev76,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like contacts and calendars on your iPad are not being synced to your iPhone 5, but the data syncs from iPhone to iPad.
If you are using iCloud for your contacts and calendars, start with the troubleshooting steps in the "iOS" or "Troubleshooting on iOS devices" sections of these articles:

I have downloaded Itunes 10.5.1 It refuses to recognise my iphone or ipad to sync.
I have reloaded it and restarted my pc but nothing changes..
Any ideas?I had a similar issue on Vista and started researching this after being unable to sync my iPhone4 or access the iTunes Store after upgrading iTunes and Safari. Found a thread here that gave me the tip to uninstall ALL Apple software and then reinstall it all. This includes QuickTime, Application Support, Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, etc. You can find all this in the "programs and features" control panel (or whatever the Win7 version of it is). It will even let you uninstall there.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling (and burning about 3 hours in the process) all the software I had uninstalled. However, after I had installed iTunes and before I installed Safari, I started iTunes to see if I could access the iTunes Store and I could!
Well, I thought I was on my way to full syncing and iTunes Store browsing pleasure..."must have been a bad install" I said and promptly reinstalled Safari as well.Once that was done, I started up iTunes and was met with the same blank iTunes Store screen, and was unable to sync my iPhone. Sigh.
So - uninstalled all Apple software again and resinstalled JUST the iTunes package. This time around, full success with iTunes Store and iPhone syncing!
Obviously, a browsing engine/rendering failure on the part of Safari that doesn't impact the browser in iTunes until Safari is installed.
1. Uninstall all Apple software
2. Reinstall ONLY iTunes package
3. DON'T reinstall Safari -
I'm not sure how to sync contacts and iCal between my older Macbook Pro and my new iMac. I've searched on Google for a few explanations, but they seem fairly complicated. Are there any easy ways to make this happen?
Is this a one time sync or do you want to keep them synced all the time?
If it's a one time sync you want to use Setup Assistant to migrate your data from the old machine to the new one. You can use the Lion Setup Assistant tips for help.
If you want to always keep them synced you have several alternatives. First is you can wait for iCloud which will be released this Fall according to Apple. You can find information about iCloud at www.apple.com/icloud. Several years ago I began using a tool called Synctogether which syncs Bookmarks, Calendars, Contacts, Widgets, Dock Items, Mail Accounts and Mail Signatures. You just check what you want synced, for example I do Bookmarks, Calendars and Contacts. This app sells for about $49 I think, however if I were you I'd wait for iCloud which will give you 5GB (which is a LOT) for free. -
HT1296 my computer crashed and i want to sync my iphone to a new computer ow can i do this?
is there away to sync my iphone4s to a new lptop?
The EASY way is to restore the backup that you must have kept of the computer that crashed to your new laptop. In lieu of that there's a much more complicated process that preserves most, but not all content: Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
-
Looking for help please???
You need to copy the iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer; do this while iTunes is not running, then launch iTunes and you will see it. You can then safely sync. If this is not an option there is a MUCH more complicated way to do it: Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
