A while back I had to do a reset on my iPhone 4. When I did this I lost all my purchased iTunes music. All of the songs were purchased through my iPhone and never transferred to my computer. At the time, I only had 8g of memory and no storage left on my phone so I was never too concerned with putting the music back on it, I just used pandora when I wanted to listen to music. I have since purchased an iPhone 5 and now that I have more storage I would like my music back. I tried going into iTunes and searching for the songs thinking maybe I would just have to re-install the same way I would if I deleted an app and wanted it back, but all it sasy is "purchased" and gives me no option to re-load the song to my device. It doesn't even give me the option to purchase again. Anyone have a solution for this?

Downloading lost itunes music from support and running out of space on HD

Well it's been a long process, but to make things short:
I called support to get help in recovering lost itunes music on emac running panther. The support folks were easily able to locate the purchased music which also included some movies and TV shows (son's computer). we were able to initiate the downloads, however part way through the process I noted that the drive on the emac would probably fill up, and it did. The emac has a external drive. I want to move the itunes music folder to the external drive, which I probably should have done first.
So now is it possible to move the itunes music folder to the external drive and then continue the restoration and how would this be done, precisely. I have searched and read a few articles on this process and I was confused by giving a iTunes Music folder path to "whatever new location you want your iTunes media files to be stored in". If I get into this will the computer prompt me and show the external drive as a possible new location of the folder, or do I need to enter the new location and what would the new path look like in words?

I just realized I have a different iCloud account set up on my phone. The one on my Macbook is the one associated with my ITunes account. Could this be the problem?

Lost iTunes Music

I just reformatted my PC because of some driver problems, and I didn't think twice about it because all I really had on it was some media. Now I'm noticing that I can't find a way to get any of the stuff I bought off of the iTunes store back, which was over two hundred dollars worth of albums. Where do I get them back from?

The policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage."
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are quite cheap these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

Lost ITunes Music Card

I sent my nephew a $50 ITunes Music Card for Christmas and the package I sent it in was lost by UPS. (That's what Brown did for me!) Assuming the card was destroyed, not stolen and used, can I get it replaced? And if it was stolen, is there a way of tracking who used it? I couldn't find any information about this on the Apple website.

This is somewhat easy. My neice gave me one for christmas and iTunes won't honor the 16 digit code. So even if it is stolen I doubt it will work for them either. However she bought it at Target so at this point i don't know who is to blame YET.

TS4062 Have lost itunes music library from my iPad

Cannot access my iTunes music library from my iPad3. It was working fine until I installed iTunes on my netbook (windows 7) yesterday. That seemed to result in losing my music library on the iPad. I also have the iTunes account on a desktop pc. Any suggestions as to what caused this and how to fix it? Thanks!

iOS devices can only be synced to one iTunes library.
You probably allowed syncing of your iPad when you plug it to your Netbook which was previously synced with your PC (by the way, you posted on the iTunes for Mac forum). It that time, you must have seen a popup warning telling you that your iPad is synchronized with another iTunes libray.
If you sync your iOS device with an empty iTunes library, it will result in deleting everything on it. In you case, you should plug back your iPad in your PC and then, select to restore it from your latest backup.

I lost my itunes after syncing and older iphone to my powermac g4. Originally I had an older ipod nano that I would sync to the g4 and everything was fine. Lost itunes music even though preferences had been set in advance for not automatically syncing.

My itunes library had been fine. I had been using an older ipod nano to sync with my itunes library and had been doing manual syncs, with the preferences in itunes set for not allowing "ipods or iphones" to sync automatically. I found out that apple had a program to replace the battery on this older ipod nano, so I sent it in. It was great, they didn't have an exact replacement and sent me a later ipod nano. However, this ipod nano is so new - I will have to get a newer computer with a later operating system to use it.
So, I thought I'd use my old iphone to listen to my old playlists. I thought the preferences were set for not automatically syncing iphone to itunes.
I've had problems in the past with the syncs with this iphone and my computer because of the USB port (1.1). I'm thinking this was the problem.
The apple store did something to update the software on my iphone when it wasn't working one day. I think that when I tried to sync the iphone to the g4 cube via the old port (1.1) it basically wiped out everything on my itunes. Whatever was my selected playlist for my iphone - that was the only music
that remained on my computer and the iphone. I only had about 20 songs purchased on my library, but alot of music that had been downloaded, I gave away those original cds. I did have a back up on my external drive, but that thing died a few weeks ago from some random power outtages we had this fall.
I'm not looking to purchase retrieval software or have some outside third party to retrieve it for me. It's not that much music lost. I just wanted confirmation that this is what happened: that my old iphone sync is what erased the music.

The old iTunes library was lost with the old PC. However, it all that music and content is still on your iPod there are many ways you can extract this content from the iPod and import it back into iTunes.
Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the new PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

Recovering Lost iTunes Music Files

Aight, so i accidently did a System Recovery. and i had never backed up my files (stupid! i know.. =\ ) and i lost everything!! At first, iTunes wasnt even working for me, so finally i uninstalled it and quicktime and then reinstalled them both, again. But when i opened it, all my Music Files were gone! i had over a thousand songs!!! (Before i uninstalled & reinstalled itunes & quicktime- i looked in Windows Explorer FIRST to make sure my music was where it usually was, and it wasnt there- so i know i didnt lose my music when i uninstalled it!) Is there anyway i can recover ALL my Music Files?? So far, theyre still on my iPod - but im afraid im going to lose the songs off my ipod when i connect it to the computer. I looked around this forum already and i noticed one guy had posted somethin about this Recover4all thing - and i tried using it but i dont know what im doin. I cant find anything... except for a freakin SHORTCUT to iTunes (which doesnt help me!) Any ideas???

If you erased your hard drive (which is what most system restore disks do), then you erased your music tracks. Just reinstalling iTunes won't get them back; you'd have to copy them back from a backup or your iPod.
The easiest way to copy your tracks back from your iPod will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC, some of which work quite well. I don't have a specific recommendation as I've never used any of the PC utilities, but check the reviews.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

Lost iTunes music off iPhone

Ok here's the problem and I know it's my fault but some help would be so nice.
I have an iPhone 3GS and I just downloaded the new 4 software off a friends computer(big mistake) but I don't have the computer I usually sync to so I was desperate. Now that I have the new software and that works well, I have discovered that all my music has been wiped from my iPhone iTunes. Most of these songs I have already backed up on my normal computer(when I get to use it) but there are some songs that I have purchased on my iPhone iTunes but have not sync them to the computer yet. Please tell me there is a way that I can get my purchased music again without having to buy it a second time??

It has always been basic to backup all important info. If you are doing the basic, then this policy is not an issue.
As provided, you can request an exception, but they are under no obligation to allow it.
The recording industry requires their money from Apple.

Lost itunes music file

my hard drive crashed and was replaced - lost all my itunes files and thought the ipod would be the backup - when attached the ipod to the new itunes - it erased the music library on the ipod. any way to get it back?

As long as you have not reloaded much (or any) new information to the iPod, the following links will direct you to software that has a (small/medium/good) chance of recovering some or all of your iPod’s deleted music files. Several responders indicated that Recover4All worked for them (although it could be as a result of being first on the list below). Most are not shareware or freeware, so you may have to spend a little money.....

Lost iTunes Music directory

I recently lost my network drive, once I got the drive restored and all my files restored, iTunes lost track of about half my songs. Now it wants me to locate those songs which are still in the same place, is there anyway to get iTunes to relocate all my music files for me?

I lost my hard drive and had to replace it and updated to win7. Now I no longer have all my music on itunes. But everything is on my ipod touch, can I just plug it in and the new itunes will download my library from the ipod? Help...

Lost iTunes Music during hard drive replacement

had to have my hard drive deleted and reinstalled. unable to reload the back up from external drive. Lost all of my music ~ unable to locate in iTunes. Is there a help line or a way to locate and reinstall missing music? Thx!

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

Lost iTunes music (iTunes need an enhancement)

I kept my iTunes library on a NAS (Network Attached Storage), that I connected to wirelessly from my Macbook with Tiger. I decided to migrate to Leopard on the same device because Safari kept crashing on me, beach ball, etc.
So I copied my Library to a USB device to sync afterwards (I didnt' care about playlists etc, only Apps, Movies, and Music).
When I built up the local Library on the device to Leopard I then configured Time Capsule on the Macbook. Just how I wanted.
Only I discovered that some of my Movies, all of my Applications and a few songs I purchased were not in my Library.
So I went to the Genius Bar, and was able to get 2 movies back, and all my applications from, thankfully, my iPhone. Using the sync feature.
That left about $60 worth of content yet to re-import...
But where did it go?
iTunes has this AWESOME feature, that when it launches before the remote storage is available, it will revert to default storage WITHOUT WARNING YOU.
So I made purchases at the time when the NAS device was not available, and iTunes didn't warn me the content was now local instead of the previous location.
Therefore after I rebuilt my MacBook, all that content is now gone.
I sent a request for the Apple Store to redownload the specific movies (Dark Knight, Elf, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation), but according to their TOS, I won't have the right to redownload and must purchase again.
Is this right? Should I have to repay for a flaw in their software? The software should warn me that the last known repository is not available, and that any purchases will be placed locally, and to "Consolidate Library" when the last known is available again.
This really irks me that I would have to repay for already purchased content (it's all in my purchase history).

How can I down load my Lost Itunes Music?

I recently had a virus attack on my computer.
How can I get all my purchased i-tunes songs re-down loaded?

Connect the iPhone to your computer, launch iTunes.
Select the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window.
Select the Music tab.
Setup your music that you want synced, then click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.
