HT201269 moving all music from iphone 3gs to iPhone 5

I am upgrading my 3ga phone to the 5 and before I started I synced my old phone to the cloud.  I went to start up my new phone and everything was restored from my old phone except my music.  Only 5 songs out of 161 songs were transfered and now they are no where to be found....can anyone help?

If the missing songs are purchased from itunes then download them again http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
If the missing songs are songs that were on your computer then they should still be there just sync the songs to your phone.  For information on how to sync music read this, this or this.

    Hello babichanjacob
Change how it syncs by enabling Manually manage music and videos, then you can drag and drop the music that you want on your iPhone. Revert it back to test to see if that resolves the issue.

  • Songs won't play after I deleted all music from iPhone once

    Hi,
I'm using iTunes Match on my iPhone and think it's cool but I have a problem: When I used iTunes Match for some time, it had downloaded lost of music to the phone and the phones drive was full. I then deleted all music from the phone (via Settings -> General -> Usage). The problem is that the songs still appear as being on the phone but I can't play them anymore. Also I cannot download them from the cloud again as they appear as still being on the device.
Has anyone experienced that as well?
    Marco

What kind of network are you one when you try to download the songs again? Wi Fi or 3G? From your description it sounds like 3G, and by default being able to download over those networks is disabled. To enable it go to Settings > Store and set "use cellular data" to ON.
Also, even though you delete the actual files from your iPhone you will see the track as being available. All tracks not stored locally on your iDevice will have a cloud icon next to them. To see just the tracks that are stored locally go to Settings > Music and set "show all music" to OFF.

  • How do I upload all music from iphone to windows pc

My pc died and all the music (purchased and old cds) is all on my iphone.  How do I upload all the music and not just purchased music back onto windows pc?

If there is a way for you to remove your hard drive from your pc you can recover your music folder that way. you may have to find someone with a pc like yours to insert your hard drive in their pc to transfer all your files onto an external hard drive. once you find yourself a new pc, download iTunes on the new pc and transfer all the music/apps you recovered from the old pc hard drive(now in the external hard drive back into the music folder in your new pc. then use itunes to import all the same music and your library over. it worked for me. At some cases automatic downloads do take place so watch for that. if that happens duplicates of every song will populate. easy fix, just search for duplicates and delete from your library.
    hope this works

  • Itunes removes all music from iphone during sync

Every other time I connect my iPhone to my computer the sync with iTunes causes the iPhone to lose all music. I only sync one playlist ("On-the-go") which contains all the albums I want on my phone and for my purposes is sufficient. I do not use iTunes Match (not even subscribed), only use iCloud for "Find My iPhone" and have very few "purchased" items as part of the playlist. All other purchases have been moved off the iPhone. In iTunes "Sync only checked songs and videos" is checked.  When I discover that the music is gone I can see in the Music pane of iTunes that none of the playlists are now checked. This is something that iTunes is doing by itself, I always leave one playlist checked. I'm getting a bit fed up of this - its been going on for several weeks now and takes far too long to copy the music back and then re-set alarms and other apps that use the music.
Any constructive suggestions would be gratefully received.
    iPhone 4S iOS 8.1.3
    iTunes 12.1.0.50
MacBook Pro (mid-2009) OS X 10.8.5 (NOT Mavericks as claimed below!)

I fixed this problem by dumping iTunes altogether and going with Amazon Cloud player app on the iPhone.  Much better experience than iTunes and iTunes Match.

  • How to clear all music from iPhone 5

I want to completely purge the music in my iPhone 5, hopefully in one fell swoop. Wasted half an hour trying to find out how in iTunes help.
    Thanks!

    Hey Jeff Neufer,
Thanks for the question. You can clear all of the music from your iPhone 5’s storage by navigating to Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage > Music. From this page, tap “Edit” and then the minus sign next to “All Songs”, then confirm by tapping Delete.

  • Synching ringtones erases all music from iPhone?

I know how to make ringtones, but when I click the "snych" button on the ringtones tab for my phone in iTunes, it warns me that synching ringtones will remove all music and video from the iPhone. I tried it anyway, and it did remove everything else that I had syched previously. Why would this happen and how can you avoid it?

Well, it makes absolutely no sense, but I discovered that I can synch ringtones by dragging and dropping from the ringtones section of the library to the iPhone when it's connected to the laptop. It seems dumb to have everything else erased from the iPhone if ringtones are synched from the iTunes screen, but synching ringtones (and other content in the library) with drag-and-drop works fine so I'll just do that from now on...

  • I cannot remove songs that downloaded to my iphone 5 from cloud off my iphone, i deleted all music from iphone but they still remain

I upgraded to a iphone 5 and transferred my music to my new phone.  Apparently what i think is happening is that my purchased music is automatically downloading to my iphone and I do not want this.  I have checked manually manage music etc on itunes and turned off music from icloud on my phone so I think im ok there.  My problem that I am having is that I cannot get rid of the music it already downloaded from the cloud.  Please help I just want this off my phone.

I have the same problem. I have 21 songs that cannot be deleted. I have tried to delete them from my phone using itunes. I have deleted them from my itunes library completely and when I sync the phone they just keep coming back. The phone shows the cloud symbol to the right of the song title. When you touch the symbol a circle with a square in the centre represents loading the song. When that is complete I try to swipe form right to left and a delete button appears. Great! but when you touch it the song remains and the cloud symbol has returned. I have even tried a master reset on my phone to no avail. I do not have itunes Match and when I log into the cloud there is no where I can see where these songs are stored. My fifteen year old daughter has spent 4 hrs trying to figure this out and she gave up! HELP PLEASE! The songs are an album my daughter purchased from the itunes store using my ID and although she loves them on her ipod I can't stand them and can't get them off my phone. I don't even know how they got there in the first place. Arrrrgh!

  • How do you transfer ALL music from iPhone to computer?

I got a new macbook pro and want to transfer all my music (also the ones that weren't purchased from the iTunes store) onto it. How?

The iPhone is not a storage/backup device.
You should copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Transfer all music from iphone to new macbook pro

I would like to transfer all my songs from my iphone which was sync with a PC to my new macbook book pro, i have transfered all the itunes purchased songs but cannot transfer all the other songs. I have transfered all contacts etc... to the new macbook, but no joy with the remaining songs. can anyone help?

The conventional way to do this would be to just grab the songs from the PC where they originated. However, if you'd rather pull them directly from the iPhone, you'll need a 3rd party tool such as PhoneView. I hope this helps!

  • ITunes removes all music from iPhone 4s

Then when I try to resync the still checked songs back to the iPhone, it quickly finishes the sync with no errors - but no songs are copied back to the iPhone.  If I set iTunes to manually sync - same thing.  No errors.  The only way to get the songs to sync again is to do a complete restore of the iPhone (which I've now done twice in two weeks).  I have iTunes Match setup but not on the phone as it is crippling slow and the volume of music (about 7800 songs) makes it impractical to download songs in the slow interface.
What is the problem??  Why is iTunes randomly dumping my phone's music!?
I sync my iPhone with my work computer (Windows 7 - iTunes 10.7.0.21).

I fixed this problem by dumping iTunes altogether and going with Amazon Cloud player app on the iPhone.  Much better experience than iTunes and iTunes Match.

  • How do I prevent itunes from moving my music from its original place ie folders in an external drive when I play music from itunes. I have all my music in artist folders and separated by MPG3/MPG4 and FLAC folder within the artist folder.

How do I prevent itunes from moving my music from its original place ie folders in an external drive when I play music from itunes. I have all my music in artist folders and separated by MPG3/MPG4 and FLAC folders within the artist folder and itunes moves the track/s whenever i try and load selected music to my ipod/iphone. I've tried to find some sort of preference to prevent this, but no joy? What am I missing?

Try opening iTunes preferences. Then click on advanced tab. Then uncheck "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library." By default, iTunes copies music to its own media folder when you use iTunes to play the music.

I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over.  Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over?  I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another.  Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
