HT201269 my iphone 5 did not restart after setup

I have backed up my old 4 and restored my new iphone 5 but it doesn't restart after backup and then when I plug it back in it wants to restore again?

Try connecting it to a wall socket charger and let it charge for about an hour.  Leave it charging, but see if it will start up normally.   If it does - I would quickly back it up, make my way to an Apple Store and get the battery replaced.

Now, were I a mindreader this wouldn't be an issue, but unfortunately, I'm not.
WHAT??? Now that's a disappointment! I was sure the all-seeing, all-knowing Prof. Kappy would instantly discover the problem thru time and space....
Ok, back to the issue at hand, the Prof. is right. In none of the OP's participation, nor in any of his choir of followers save mommy power is there the least hint of what Apple product is failing. While y'all get a move on and disgorge the details, may want to try a Safe Boot. Hold down the Shift key prior to the startup chime and wait awhile. IF it starts, then it means you have some third-party software that's causing the problem. Else there's a strong probability a complete reinstall will occur in your near future.
In the future and in spite of what some purists may say, be sure to service the system disk BEFORE patching. By "service" I mean booting up the Mac using your Install DVD (Snow Leopard or priors) or booting in Recovery Mode (Command R, in the Lions and successors), running the Disk Utility found in that mode and doing a Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions. Until NO errors show up. Cause patching up an already damaged system will only make things worse.

  • My Mac did not restart after changing permissions of "everyone".

The reason of my question is because somehow and for a reason I now regret, yesterday I did a very foolish thing: I decided to change the permissions of my hard drive.
I have been in Mac just 2 months. I am the only User and Administrator of this Mac.
I changed the permission of "everyone" to "no access" believing that I was just limiting access to "everyone" except me. But after that I could not restart my Macbook Pro. It did not go beyond the Apple logo. Looks like I was also included in "everyone.
First I tryed to verify and repair permissions with Disk Utility restarting with Command+R. It did not work. I could not restart normally.
Then I figured it out that if I could only access that "permissions" windows again I could revert the process to "just read". Problem was how to access that window.
Lucky me, I had a 6 days old Time Machine backup in an external hard drive and another 6 days old Carbon Copy Image in a different hard drive. I restarted from this Clone Image with Command +R, opened Disk Utilities, opened the mount point of this Clone, (:/Volumes/Mac109Clone), right clicked Macintosh HD (the internal hard drive), got access to the Information Window and revert the permissions of "everyone" to just read. Then I could restart my Mac normally.
    My 3 questions are:
The mount point to Macinthosh HD is "/"
The mount point to Mac109Clone (Carbon Copy image in external hard drive) is "Volumes/Mac109Clone.
    1) Is this what shoud be?
    2) What does "everyone" means in permissions: is everyone except me or everyone including me?
    3) Why the "verify and repair" process did not work?
    Thanks for the information.

You Mac already set up Permissions that would have protected you.
By applying settings that made sense to you, your Mac is now totally messed up.
Were you formerly a PC owner?  If so, please read this article on switching to Macs:
    http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/
    1.  If you have a password to login, you are already protected.
    2.  Do you have your "Security and Privacy" setting in your System Preferences set to Firewall "On?"
    3.  Stay away from non-Apple apps that promise "security," or "file cleaning."  They are not needed, and cause damage.
Actually, I would recommend that you reinstall your OS, to get your permissions back in order.  In the future, please know that your Mac knows much better than most users how to protect itself, and your information.
I just really hope you can successfully undo the damage you've accidently caused.
    All the best!
EDIT:  Others have had this "problem."  But if the users had left permissions as they were originally set up, they would have no problem.

  • HT201328 Unlocking my iPhone 4s did not work after I did the Restore in my device. Need Help

I received an email confirmation from my carrier that my request to have my iPhone 4s to be unlocked has been sent to Apple and completed, and I followed the instruction given to me for Restoring my device but  still not able to use other SIM card. I was advice that I will be able to get the unlock info from Apple when I do the Restore, I'm still getting the error message "SIM card is invalid...." when I replaced the SIM card that came from my carrier with another. Please help. I need to know what am I missing. Appreciate any help.

Yes, I believe the steps did Restore my device as new. I followed the steps given to me in How to Restore software in my device..still I believe the Unlocking did not work because I'm not able to use other SIM card

Try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. This can take up to 20 seconds to react.

  • After first time installation, system did not restart, just hanged.

    Hello
I am new to ur world of mac.
I tried to install os x 10.4 on an intel pc.
All went excellent. But at the end when it said to restart,
it just hanged there and did not restart.
I used the reset button, but it didn't boot
    error message was "B0 error"

That is right - upgrade to Mac as in purchase a Mac which now have Intel processors and the ability to also install and use Windows XP or Vista along with OS X on the same computer.
I wonder if u have gone thru Apple's OS X license agreement recently?
I have gone through the Apple website recently but I don't need to. Regardless, the answer remains the same and will not change. If you want to run OS X, you need to purchase a Mac.

  • Did not die after sending SIGKILL

In the past 2 days, I've experienced significant slowdown.
The only thing new is that I'm attempting to switch from Eudora to Mail.
Here's what is repeating -- ENDLESSLY -- per Console:
...com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.RemoteDesktop.agent[74]): Did not die after sending SIGKILL 865 seconds ago...
I have searched and there is no RemoteDesktop or ARD accessible on my machine!
    HELP

Just FYI, all copies of Mac OS X since, I believe, 10.4 have the Remote Desktop client included.
Check the Sharing preferences and see if either Remote Management or Screen Sharing are checkmarked. If either are, uncheck them and see if that stops the messages.
I presume you've restarted your computer, yes?
    Regards.

  • MAC Mini does not restart after Yosemite update

I bought my MAC mini in 2011 and I successfully updated to Mavericks with no problems.  I am not sure why my MAC Mini will not restart after I updated to Yosemite. The completion bar gets stuck around 30%.
    Any help or ideas appreciated
    Larry

Okay, this is strange.  I tried restarting three times yesterday with the same results. In fact I left it go overnight only to find the next morning that the bar was still stuck at 30%.  I did a hard boot a little bit ago and waited a few seconds. I restarted an it booted up fine.

  • My iPhone 4 can not reboot after upgrading to iOS 6; keeps trying and cannot shut off either.

My iPhone 4 can not reboot after upgrading to iOS 6; keeps trying and cannot shut off either.

I FINALLY got it to work on BOTH iPhone 4 and iPpad 3.  Here is what I had to do:
Had to DELETE all e-mail accounts including icloud.
Did a hard reset (hold down button on top right corner and round button on bottom center)
Then once it came back on, the iPhone had ALL of the accounts still on it and it was receivng e-mail.
The iPad receive e-mail until I did the steps above 5 times.  Plus, I had to add back all of the e-mail accounts vs. on the iPhone 4 they were there when my phone came on.
Now I am receiving e-mail on both devices normally.
No clue why this happened, but Apple needs to find a fix ASAP.
