I am having the same issue. After hunting around on the community boards for a while, I noticed that ZoneAlarm Firewall came up fairly often as causing issues with syncing. I re-activated the firewall that came bundled with my less-than-a-year old Windows 7 pc and completely uninstalled ZoneAlarm. I dragged and dropped one of my playlists to the iPhone 3GS and then most of my music then came back, but I am still unable to get all my custom ringtones (created in i ringer) to reload. I've tried dragging and dropping to no avail (I use "manually manage" because I add audio books from the library).
Others have posted these same issues and the odds that we are all doing the same exact wrong thing seems astronomical - there must be an issue with the latest firmware update. Different iPhone versions, different OS on computers, PC v Mac - all having problems after the latest update. Coincidence? Hmmmm!
If you do have ZoneAlarm, it might be worthwhile to change that...

I need help figuring out how to get the latest itunes i am way behind, but when i do a search in the intunes store it doesnt look like a legit download it looks like i'm downloading something else.... and my computer does not even acknowledge when I connect my iphone in and it's an imac =( i am trying to sync to delete old files and messages

What version of OS X do you have on the iMac?
Note that you can only sync an iPhone with one computer. If you change computers your iTunes content (music, videos, podcasts and apps) will be erased from the phone.

try using another cable with the present adapter. if still it is not charging then connect to a computer through both the cables . Still the issue is persisting then it should be ur lightning port. Use an Antistatic brush(old tooth brush would work), clean the port. Look for any foriegn material.Use a safety pin or the sim ejector pin u got along with the pack if ur not able to do with the brush. !CAUTION: Donot use a blower. then connect the iPhone. if it is still not charging then arrange appointment with the service team.

Was your phone ever locked to a different phone carrier than the one your on now?
If so how was your phone unlocked?
Very rarely is the server unavailable.
Is your phone jailbroken or was your computer used to jailbreak a device?

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. Iphone 5s not detected in my computer

I use my iphone 5s to take pictures for work and up until about a week ago I had no problems downloading picutres from my phone to my computer, which is a home built computer running windows 7. My iphone shows up in device manager and the drivers are good and it also appears in itunes, however it doesn't show up in my computer as an external device even though there are pictures to be downloaded. I have been on several forums and tried several different things, really hoping someone here knows the answer...

It won't show up as removable storage since the iphone does not support disk mode. There is nothing for you to do.

Songs can be removed from your iPhone by tapping 'Songs,' then swiping the song, then tapping Delete.
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

Iphone 4 not syncing to itunes

My iphone 4 will not sync to itunes. itunes recognizes it but when i sync, it will say that the syncing failed to start. Any advice?

I am having a problem with my iPhone 4 not syncing to iTunes in Win 7. It says "cannot read contents of iPhone, please click on restore to reset the iPhone to original factory setting."
I have tried many possible solutions but still the problem persists.
Including
1. Reinstalling iTunes
2. Power cycling my iPhone
3. Disengaging the iPhone automatic synchronization in iTunes
4. Deleting all previous iPhone sync backups
5. "Resetting the sync backups"
6. "Resetting the network settings" on my iPhone
FYI
1. Ironically, I am able to copy my pictures and videos from the iPhone using Windows Explorer.
2. All of the music was strangly deleted from my iPhone
3. The problem appears to have coincided when I installed iTunes 10 on August 31st.
4. At the time of that the problem surfaced, I had used almost all of the 32 GB of memory on my iPhone and was not able to take iPhone videos because of an error message that my "memory was full" [I have since deleted 5 GB of Apps from my iPhone and it currently says I have 4.5 GB of free space when it is shown in Windows Explorer].
5. The Hotspot feature on my iPhone abruptly stopped working around the same time that the problem surfaced. When I was last able to use the Hotspot feature, my iPhone indicated that there were actually 2 devices connected to my iPhone 4 Hotspot. But I have never given out my password, so possibly my iPhone was accessed by an unauthorized user.

Iphone does not stay connected to wi-fi.

When using apps or when in sleep mode my iphone does not stay connected to my wi-fi. All other items within the house have no issues with staying connected to my wi-fi.

By design, when entering sleep mode, the iPhone will disconnect from WiFi to conserve battery. If you want the WiFi connection to remain persistent, plug your phone into a power source.

Iphone 3gs not being recognised by Itunes 10.1.2 on my Imac

Hi all,
This seems to be a common problem but all the posts that say they have succeeded don't work on mine. My problem started when my iphone was not being recognised. I did everything re-installed itunes, restarted computer etc and I finally went into DFU mode. Itunes recognised then but said it needed to be restored. At wits end i did this, now i have no phone as itunes wiped everything but since it wont recognise it again i cant get the phone past the connect to itunes/emergency call screen. I also tried deleting the file "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig" but i cant seem to find it where they said it would be. If i can find this file apparently this will help me but it simply not there.
Really hope that someone might have an answer that will work for me because i really need my cell phone back
P.S I have the latest itunes and Mac OS X 10.6.6
